No video from Fox News ( other sites OK ) using Firefox update 50.0 even in safe mode, adverts play but not site video just a rotating circle. Latest version of Shockwave Flash and Flash Player installed. Running Windows XP SP3 IE runs fine with Firefox. On a second computer Firefox runs good with Fox News using Linux Mint. Tried the usual trouble shooting methods,Ie delete temp files, cookies even reloaded Firefox. Nothing seems to work. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

After I've updated the Firefox browser to 50.0, I started having issues browsing multiple tabs. Whenever I have a tab that runs HTML5 (Youtube video or Twitch stream), and I'm on other tabs browsing, there is a high chance that my tabs crashes.

It doesn't happen in Safe mode, but even after I've manually disabled the few addons I have, it still crashes (I have no theme to my browser).

One of the techs at Bleepingcomputer suggested I contact you for this problem. They went through my computer for malware and gave me a clean bill of health. Tech said he knows it has something to do with certificates, and that he wasn't really an expert on FF. I have several addons that contain important data I would hate to lose. So I'm wondering if there is an easy way of doing this without reinstalling FF and all of the addons again, backing up and restoring data.

I'm using W10 and FF 64-bit. It's a Lenovo laptop.

I've updated FF from 48.0.2 to 49.0.2 and all my saved passwords are gone. The "Show passwords" button is blank. FF no longer asks to save my password. Did an uninstall, removed profile and reinstalled. No luck. Key3.db (and others) is not created. If I go back to 48.0.2, everything is fine.

For quite a number of months Firefox continuously crashes or becomes unresponsive. Every time this occurs, Firefox will not close, but must be forced to close. At every crash or when forced to close, I get the Windows OS error message that a plug-in has stopped working and must close. That plug-in is always the Adobe Flash plug-in.

I am on the Firefox Beta channel and religiously apply all beta updates. I also religiously keep Adobe Flash updated. However, since I do not fully trust internet notices, I never allow a software vendor to automatically apply an update.

I should also add that this scenario happens many times during every day, except those days I am not using Firefox or do not access a website that invokes the Adobe Flash plug-in.

Can you shed any light on why the Adobe Flash plug-in quits working?

Thanks for your assistance. David R Breed

I'm trying to drag and drop a picture to folder, same as I often do on my other computer. Firefox seems to be putting links to the URLs of the pictures in the folder, instead of saving copies as expected. As far as I recall the other computer saved copies without having to set anything, and I think the default behavior should not differ. No matter how I hard I think that thought at the computer, it still doesn't behave. How do I get it to do as I wish?

The behaving computer is using Firefox 50.0 on Windows XP SP3. The naughty computer is using Firefox 50.0 on Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3.

On Dec. 27 Firefox crashed and all the history is gone. The only other profile I have is from July, just before I switched to Windows 10. So basically all history between August and December 27 is gone. The places.sqlite file in the July was 10, 240KB and has all the history from July and going back a long ways. The December 28 places.sqlite file is also 10,240KB but has no history before today.

I've read about places.sqlite being key in extracting the history, but I don't understand how to access it. I've created new profiles and copying and pasting each of these files, but the results are the same. I am still missing the 6 months of history.

How can I retrieve it? Is it possible to copy browser history of activity in Chrome into Firefox?

Thank you.

If I click the shortcut, I can choose to open it directly or to download it. I choose open in with excel (2013) but before doing that, the file download first and then opens in excel. If I refresh firefox, the problem is solved but after one session, the problem occurs again. Other times, it last for a week or serveral weeks and then occurs again. Some pc's have this problem, others don't. All have the latest updates of firefox / windows... There's no logic explanation, it occors with windows 7 - 10 thanks in advance...

"You should not be trying to use CCleaner to control close or clean up Firefox. Firefox has its own options for clearing History, cache and keeping its database updated and backed up."

I copied this from another discussion of this issue. This applies if you don't mind having persistent data logs, cookies etc. That don't clear even after a restart. I've used Mozilla browser a long time. Since the late 90s. This has just started in the last week. I've reinstalled Ccleaner, Firefox.. Cleared my DNS cache and still it happens. Every time I close firefox and run ccleaner it has to force firefox to close. I have verified the persistent data after restart then after a brief browsing session. (Opening and closing the browser) and doing a restart of my PC cookies and site preferences are still stored. I am looking for truth and why this is happening. I've noticed a lot of new traffic since microsoft removed privacy. Since, as far as I know, Mozilla is not part of microsoft so why this recently started after all this time is baffling me.

I've looked at the suggestions on the way here, and none of them really address when I think is my "complaint".

See attached.

When I open the bookmark menu, I want MY stuff at/near the top.

I am sure in older versions I could move the two FOLDER names further up towards the top of the menu. They are where they are (shown in RED) and I would like them up near where the GREEN arrow is pointing.

If I TRY to move them there, they get put in to another folder and I have to play "chasey" to find them and where they are. Say just under "recently bookmarked".

The idea of a bookmark system is that the sites you go to a lot are THERE, quickly and easily got to. Not having to open the menu, and then scroll to the bottom to get to the most used sites.

Anyone know how to get them where I mentioned?

I am about at wits end. I have been trying for about a month to try to get auto-fill forms to work. I worked fine until about a month ago and it quit working. I tried the new and updated version with same results ZIP-ZERO. I am pretty much computer illiterate, and the solutions (directions supplied) might as well be blueprints for a nuclear bomb. I wouldn't understand that either. I did a google search and found a couple of little programs a. Dashlane b. Roboform that have you-tube instructions. My question is will either one of these work with firefox.

Flash keeps crashing, with no other extension, in a pristine, vanilla Firefox, on all three machines I maintain. For the record, these are a custom LGA 775 Asus motherboard from about 6 years ago, a similarly old Dell Optiplex of a similar age, and a brand new HP Spectre x360. The graphics systems and their drivers have no similarities. Firefox just doesn't work with flash on these machines.

Forum questions about this keep recurring, and keep getting marked as solved, when they are clearly not! No solution is posted, just a flag for 'solved' which no one bothered to remove quicklu enough.

Is there a silver bullet for this that I am missing, or should I just uninstall Flash and rely on HTML5? Has Firefox stopped supporting Flash and I've missed it? Is there a clash between Java or another common pluggin? I can't find any dependencies like that when I try activating pluggins. If Flash is the only pluggin it crashes! I cannot even keep it running long enough to turn off the acceleration on the Adobe Flash page where you are supposed to right click to access options. Edge seems to work perfectly on the Flash sites I need to access, but I don't like not using Firefox.

Is there a fix, please???
