Dramatis Personae:
Me (a Chrome user, but attempting to help a Struggling Co-worker)
Struggling Coworker (co-worker who is not tech savvy, prefers Firefox, and would like to keep the Firefox settings he has been using historically)
Poser Coworker (the guy who broke Struggling Coworkers Firefox)
Issue:
I am submitting this on behalf a Struggling Coworker. Last week, Poser Coworker made some kind of changes to Struggling Coworker's preferred Brower, Firefox, supposedly to speed up or make Firefox more efficient. Struggling CW is unsure of what Poser CW did, aside from "remove a series panes." As of writing this post, his Firefox runs for a few seconds or minutes and then crashes. Any fixes involving the search box will not work, as the search box does not execute on anything inputted therein (Firefox just sits there doing nothing, no error message, no thinky icon, just the original input information as entered). The issue is not the internet connection nor the hardware, as Struggling CW is using successfully Chrome as a workaround.
Our IT vendor has traditionally been of limited assistance, so while Struggling CW has engaged IT vendor, it may be more efficient to receive feedback from the Mozilla community, where there are people who know what they are talking about and are motivated to fix the problem (as an example, IT vendor cannot even successfully explain to me or provide me instructions for the proper Outlook settings to get it to work with the email server and security settings that they have arranged, while sales tech company's IT successfully instructed me to set up a complicated security device on a different network, so it's not me!)
I have already attempted the fix recommended here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075976); the problem persists as described. My objectives here are to get Firefox fully functional without losing any Struggling CW's settings or profile data. The issue, I am guessing, is either with Firefox or some process that Firefox uses with his operating platform and/or his PC).
