When I bring up a spreadsheet online in google docs Firefox starts dimming the screen, others tabs run slow. The screen dimming will last, for 2-3 minutes, and then clear up, 2-3 minutes later it will dim again. The fewer tabs I have helps, but not the answer. IMO the problem has gotten worse over the few upgrades. I have an HP 2000 Laptop, CPU 1300.000 MHz, memory 7586 MiB.

ctrl+v does not work on imgur.com

i am using original Firefox, lawliet fox, Firefox by tophe, pale moon and cyberfox. also i'm using ie11, opera, chrome. only chrome accept ctrl+v function on imgur.com. it does'nt matter login or not. i can't figure out what cause is. it depends on my pc environment? or something else? could you solve this problem please?

Hi, I was wondering can Firefox history be restored? I had history from June 2014 and Firefox deleted it all last week, is there a way for all the history to be restored or not? I really hope there is, I just had some important sites in there and I always referred to them but now all the history is gone, is there a way for me to restore the browsing history from June 2014 until now? If there is, how is it done? Is there any easy and simple way to get browsing history restored? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you so much.

Last week my browser auto-updated to version 36.0 and I am now no longer able to connect to certain internal corporate websites. These sites either have self-signed certs, or certs signed by an internal CA. They do not use certs signed by publicly known "trusted" CA's.

For example, one of the errors that I receive is below:

Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to [HOST]:[PORT]. SSL peer rejected a handshake message for unacceptable content. (Error code: ssl_error_illegal_parameter_alert)

Although a warning message is received in IE or Chrome we are given the option to proceed and the site opens correctly, despite those browsers also indicating that the servers cert is not trusted.

I have added the internal CA's cert to the Authorities tab in the Firefox Certificate Manager, but am still not able to connect to the internal site.

Firefox allows me to accept some incorrect certs (or at least it did in the past), why is this not the default behavior with *all* certificate related problems? I realize that there are malicious sites out there, but there are also internal ones that are being blocked as well. Is there a config option that can be set so a user is prompted for all cert errors and they can decide to proceed if desired instead of just being blocked from the site? I understand blocking by default, but there also needs to be a way to proceed for advanced users.

Are there any configuration options to loosen the cert standards for sites? All other sites seem to load properly and otherwise there are no problems with the browser.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I wasn't sure where to.

I have a 25 inch wide HP - HD LCD monitor , since installing it , Firefox AND Google Chrome only show the page in the center of the screen all scrunched up , there is nothing on either side of the screen but the blank color of the webpage i am on (including this page) , this only happens in Firefox and Google Chrome , Internet Explorer (which i cant stand) shows the image across the screen the same way it would on a normal 19 inch monitor

I tried Full Screen , and this does not fix the issue at all , all it does is take away the address and menu bar , and the image is still in the middle of the screen all scrunched up , the attached image shows what most all web pages look like (the image shown is the page i am currently on to post my issue , as i just took a screen shot) , about the only page that looks normal is every page in Internet Explorer , every page i visit in Firefox and Google Chrome , including eBay ,Craigslist , and any forum i go to , looks like the attached image , again , this only happens in Firefox and Google Chrome , i just (last night) did a complete reformat and fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit , and SP1 , this is the same issue i had before the reformat and clean install , this is Firefox Version 36.0.1 and it says its up to date , i have tried every setting , including zoom and zoom text , with it doing nothing to spread the image across the screen as it SHOULD be

I don't know how, but for some reason this Omniboxes.com virus hijacked my Firefox and I can't get rid of. What happens is that it forces Firefox to always go to Omniboxes.com when I open it up. The weird thing is that it only happens THE FIRST TIME. My homepage is set correctly: I can go to my homepage when I click on the button, and it also does so when I open up a new window. Right-clicking on Firefox and going to Properties also revealed the target destination is set correctly.

In addition I've deleted the harmful program from the software manager already, and ran the Malwarebytes program (and Quarantined harmful files). I've also checked Task Manager but no shady programs seem to be running in the background.

Anyone know how to fix this? As said, the weird thing is it ONLY happens once on startup, never after that as long as I have Firefox open. I've also got a few add-ons and extensions running (confirmed safe), so I'm not a fan of resetting Firefox.

On several websites that I visit regularly (e.g. Autosport.com) Fiefox will not display text whilst other browsers do. This is very frustrating because I much prefer Firefox! I have screenshots of Firefox v IE but apparently I can't post them until I have a received a reply.

All Addons went missing after recent update of FF. Backup was also deleted. How the hell that happened? got me? Went back to reload add on extensions that I was needing to use. However, the add on toolbar did not appear. Tried the restore add on tool bar extension. Now I see the add on toolbar in the tools menu checked that was not there before. However, the add on toolbar is still not showing up. Selecting custom is worthless as it does not show any of the extension add ons. I can check on the downloaded extensions from the add on menu and they are enabled. However, they are not working nor showing up as they should!

This is a more serious problem than simple click here or there.

How do I prevent firefox from using HTML5 player in youtube and use flash player instead? I am not sure what advantage HTML5 has over Flash. I noticed that Flash plays smoother than HTML5 and there is also a difference in quality of the video at low resolution. HTML5 does not seem to have smooth streaming compared to Flash. I may be wrong and I am ready to learn the advantage of HTML5 over Flash. But until then I wish to revert FF to its previous behavior of playing in flash.

If there is no way of bypassing this player (html5), how do I set it to ask before I allow it to play the video? I dislike videos playing automatically as soon as I open the link or any websites (reason why I set Flash player to 'ask to activate').

Today I tried to launch Firefox from the Norton Support menu, It took more than two minutes to load. After that it takes two minutes on restart. When it finally runs all websites a lightening fast, except for Norton, which is very slow if at all. Three sessions with norton chat support have not improved anything and following the Firefox troubleshoote including reinstallation have not solved either.

When i upgrade to Firefox 36, i am having problem of "Add exception of untrust connection" with netscreen firewall.

The problem is that it will show the normal "this connection is nor trusted" screen with the button "Added exception of this website", but if i clicked on the button, nothing happened.

But this problem seems at the moment only with netscreen firewall web console (link is https://IP/nswebui.html), other website doesn't have this problem.

I tried to reinstall Firefox but this cannot solve the problem.

Would you please kindly help?

When I visit an https:// url on Firefox version 36.0.1 I am getting an exclamation mark instead of a padlock::

The same websites are showing identity information and padlocks when I use other browsers like Chrome or IE so the problem is with FF. I have no proxy in the tools>options>advanced>network>settings (so it's not that).

since the last firefox update, I have noted that DRM has wrecked my viewing video experience. Most players malfunction by freezing, blacking out screen, video not playing, while sound can be heard, etc. Display downloads is also malfunctioning and will not display, when downloading free videos. Also I have noted that video play has been sluggish and pausing a LOT in middle of streaming.

Its bad enough dealing with ISP and the like but DRM just plain kills the experience and is causing me to seriously look for a browser that actively circumvents DRM all together.

I been a big fan of mozilla for many years and its been my go to workhourse of a browser.

BUT the caving into DRM, rather than say to users that - hay because of DRM, we are unable to supply you with DRM content. we do not believe is forcing a flawed system onto you, which leaves you scratching your head as to why your unable to view content or impose DRM that deliberately breaks your hardware without informing you of the fact the DRM just broke your hardware.

your actively screwing the end-user, because most end user has NO IDEA that its the DRM that is breaking their computer or wrecking their internet experience . Most if not all instances that DRM engages it fails to inform the end user that that is the reason that what they are tempting to do is being blocked by DRM.

Hello everyone

I think that recently I had to update Flash version and it was all okay even after the update. But yesterday videos on YouTube all of a sudden stopped displaying. Just like that, in the morning they were okay and then around of noon, all of sudden blank. Didn't install anything new or something.. now I only get White screen with no any border, just an empty spot where the video should be. Beside that, any other flash content [i.e. videos on Facebook, vimeo are not displaying as well]. All I get on YouTube is constant "loading" indicator beside the cursor which keeps blipping.

Now the strange thing is first - I have no problems with this on other browsers like i.e. Google Chrome, and second.. IF I uninstall Flash from my PC, I can watch YouTube videos on Mozilla although the max resolution is 720p.. and vimeo/facebook videos will still not work. How da heck is that even possible? O.o

I've tried a lot of different things and nothing helped.. here are some of the them [I hope I won't forget something]

- Uninstalling Mozilla/Flash then installing them again - Uninstalling Flash, then letting Mozilla suggest me to add it - Disabling/Deleting all of my extensions - Turning off that hardware acceleration thingy - Deleting cookies from YouTube then adding them to exceptions - Clearing out whole history/cache or whatever - Right clicking on the "empty space" where video should be.. to see if any options will pop-up [Of course they don't, there is no video to start with] - Scanning for viruses [Nothing]

Can anyone please help me? Any suggestion, what can I do?

I also tried it using Safari w/the same results.

This has been going on for several hours.

FF36 still will not download any files on my laptop. Once in a blue moon if I double click on the file in the download box it will start and finish but usually the DL fails. It doesn't matter the type (pdf, xls, doc, zip, etc.) nor the site (Mozilla, Google Chrome, my home network, https, anywhere). It also continually displays the FF crashed dialogue box when I shut down it down. I took the extreme measure of completely removing FF35 Ultimate Uninstaller Pro, running ccleaner, spybot, malware bytes, and Norton. I then downloaded FF from the Mozilla site using (ugh) Chrome and installed FF36. One file worked, then nothing. One file is also permanently marked as paused and telling FF to clear all downloads doesn't work. The desktop version works just fine. What gives? The desktop and laptop are running the same Win 7 Home Pro SP1, same antivirus, same antimalware, same everything.

Most videos will not play (like on Facebook page) I have researched ALL OVER and tried many suggestions. Firefox is up to date and so are my players such a Flash player. I go to the same video in Chrome and it plays. Is my only choice to DELETE Firefox and USE CHROME which is not my choice.

I just updated my copy of Firefox to version 36.0 on my XP SP3 computer. As soon as the program starts, my firewall alerts me the Firefox is making an outgoing UDP call to 239.255.255.250, port 1900. I deny it and it immediately pops up again. The second time I deny it, it stops for a while and then after about a minute or so, it repeats the process. I made a rule to block the calls. Does anybody know what's going on here? According to my research, 239.255.255.250, port 1900 is the IPv4 multicast address implemented through Universal Plug and Play. Why would Firefox now need to be calling that local address? Is there something I can disable in Options to stop Firefox from making those calls? I try to minimize the number of rules my firewall has to use whenever possible.

I have found a work around for all the people having server not found problems with FF36.

If you manually set your network adapter DNS to an external DNS server (as opposed to your local ISP) then the problem goes away. I set mine to use the two google DNS servers:

 Preferred: 8.8.8.8
 Alternate: 8.8.4.4

Not a clue why this works but it is 100% successful on my desktop PC, whereas before I could hardly connect to a webpage with FF36 without multiple page refreshes and much frustration, even though FF35 was fine and rolling back to FF35 was also fine.

Something has changed in FF36 and either the way it handles DNS or the way it works with some network adapters.

It is nothing to do with add-ons, profiles or firewall software as I have tried all of these things and only the DNS change made a difference. I even copied over a full working profile and the program files directory for Mozilla from my portable which was having no problems and the problem still existed on the desktop, which is why I started looking at the network adapater since everything else between the working PC and the non working one was identical.

Hopefully this will help the developers to pin down the real cause of the problem and fix it in the next release.
