This question, I'm sure, has been asked before. I just can't seem to find the CORRECT solution. This has been going on now for, I know, a year or more. I just get tired of trying to find the solution so I just deal with it. Well, I've got to the point that someone has had to have the same problem as I and has found the solution. Problem: Almost(not every time), when I open a link in a new window, after the site opens, FF immediately switches back to the originating website from where I clicked the link. I then I have to reselect the the new window for FF to refocus on it. This does not seem to be version specific only because FF has updated its versions multiple times over a year and still having the same issue. Of course, no other browser I use does this. I've always been a FF fan so don't like to use other browsers much.

FYI; FF 31.0, WIn7x64 is up to date. All software(Adobe, DX, slvrlt, etc) is up to date as well. No Java installed.

In the past few weeks, I get this annoying message every 15 seconds, whenever I go to www.huffingtonpost.com:

"This web page is being redirected to a new location. Would you like to resend the form data you have typed to the new location?"

I have not entered any form data.

This message started appearing after my office installed new web content filters The message does not happen in Internet Explorer, nor does it occur on my home laptop using Firefox. My office IT folks claim their content filter is not the problem (their usual reply to such inquiries). I would like to know if there is a setting in Firefox that can fix this issue.

I'm having problems watching videos from youtube. Everytime I go to log onto that website, a message saying "the connection was reset" pops up. I tried doing some of the things suggested in the articles, (resetting firefox, clearing the history, cookies, catches,...) and for some reason nothing is working. Is it possible that there is something else I need to try?

Thankyou for your time:)

this is an annoying situation I encounter a lot. steps to encounter this problem: 1. open 3 or more tabs, for this example they are called tab1, tab2, and tab3 in spot1, spot2, and spot3. 2. go to tab1 and close the tab switcher. 3. open the tab switcher, and close tab1 by sliding it sideways. 4. after tab2 jumps to spot1, tap it to switch to tab2. 5. observe the bug: firefox for android skips tab2 and instead opens tab3.

this happens to me a lot and I often don't notice it in time. after this happens I close the tab in spot1 (tab2) thinking that was the tab I just viewed.

I've waited for a new release (FF31) to see if it had been fixed but nope the issue is still there. In my Feedly I've kept one specific feed populated just to test this. Whenever I try to read that feed Firefox freezes my entire computer not just the browser. It goes from usually around 500mb to well over 2gb in a matter of seconds.

I've read that addons can affect the browser behavior but even with them disabled the leak still happens.

I'm not sure where to go from here. Anyone have any pointers or a solution? I really don't want to have to switch to Chrome just to read Feedly...

Pressing ctrl-k used to take me to the plain vanilla version of Google's homepage. Apparently, this has changed, as of Firefox 31. Pressing ctrl-k now gets me to some sort of Firefox-branded wrapper around the Google search box. Is there a way to change this new behavior back to the old behavior?

Thanks, Brendan

Ok this Firefox/Flash issue has been a problem for a few years now and it seems the Mozilla want to keep sidestepping this issue by blaming the users. I dont have the answer but can maybe point in the right direction.

Its late 2014 and and this issue is still a LARGE PROBLEM!

The reason our computers are locking up, or hanging is because when Firefox needs to use the flash plugin, it has a bug which start to eat away at the amount of storage space available on any given computer. You can 1st open your TASK MANAGER. Then open the Firefox browser. Next in the task manager and find the line for (firefox.exe), also monitor the 2 lines for (flashplayerplugin). But mainly the firefox.exe, and in that line NOTE to the MEMORY USAGE. This is the problem. Now open YOUTUBE in the browser and watch a few videos. as you do this the memory will grow and grow and grow to Gigabyte, thus overloading a computers memory and lagging and locking-up will occur. You need to close the Firefox browser to get the memory to stop increasing. People who have 8GB or less of memory are most effected, and Firefox developers who say for you to go to the Flash Help page and uncheck to HARDWARE ACCELERATION are just lazy and stupid, because they still to this date have never addressed this issue. WE CANNOT UNCHECK THAT BOX. because our computer memory locks up and doesnt allow it to be unchecked, so your answer of telling us to do this is not a solution... CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME IN THE FIREFOX DEV TEAM, probably not they are satill asleep or playing on their phones. Try setting up a minimum computer and bringing this problem as I described, then find US A FIX FOR THIS 4YR OLD ISSUE!!!

Here is a solution one person suggests, but it will not work for me because my lack of a large amount of computer memory hardware will still not allow me/us to UN-CKECK THE HARDWARE ACCELERATION BOX...

START (( Hi, I solved this shit.

Flash video/content crashes instantly, so it makes it impossible to right-click it and enter the settings to disable hardware acceleration. This issue wasn't solved for over 2 years in other forum posts, but I finally did it. You have to temporarily DISABLE all your recording and playback devices in the windows' sound menu. this will let you play flash content (it did help me), just enough to disable hardware acceleration. I am surprised Mozilla survived despite being unable to debug their own software - no respect to customers ad their time. )) END

As i said this still did not work for me, but right clicking on any flash video will allow you options... So instead of going into SETTINGS on trying to unckeck HARDWARE ACC., Instead I went into Global Settings>Advanced> and deleted all (Browsing Data and Settings).

Next I right clicked on the video, and unchecked LOOP and PLAY options. This seems to have decreased the memory build up in the TASK MANAGER somewhat.

I run the latest updates of FLASH (14.0.0.179), versions of Firefox (31.0), on a win7 64bt unit that has a z97 intel motherboard with 8Gb of memory.

Maybe just 1 smart and un-lazy Firefox Developer can follow up on this Flash bug issue... I mean its almost 2015 and its still here and you are losing browser supporters, and eventually your jobs, wake up now!

Hope this feedback helps, have a nice day.

Hello,

on one of our workstations running Windows XP, the MP4 videos are not displayed in Firefox (version 31). The problem is reproducible for example with the following page:

http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html

In the location of the MP4 area, the following error message is displayed "no video, the format or the mime type is managed was found." (Translated from french).

The two other video formats in the same page are displayed without problem.

On the same machine, the MP4 video is also displayed without problem in Google Chrome.

And the video is also shown on another computer with the same version of Firefox on Windows 7 but this time (I have not tried other Windows XP workstations).

I can see here that the last versions of Firefox are supposed to be able to read h264 video in the "video" tag of html5. Or does it deppends also from the Operating system ?

Any idea?

thanks for your help, Fred

Hello,

I've successfully saved my bookmarks and browsing history in the past. Transfering them from an old hard drive to a new hard drive.

I was trying "Backup" my bookmarks, but after choosing a location to "backup," firefox freezes for a few seconds but no json file is created.

Also, when I look up the "boomarkbackups" folder, the last saved file was sometime in June.

Can someone help me?

Thanks so much for your time and help.

Cheers, KevinH
