Is this still the current status or are there any plans to support the old Windows versions for a little longer?

Thanks and regards, Martin

Hi, I love the new, little weather app/temperature icon in the upper left of the Firefox home page. HOWEVER, I really want to change it to a city closer to me. I looked up how to do it, but the directions seem WRONG. I cannot hover and find any way to change locations. Is it because I'm on a Mac? or ?

Can you help me? I'm using an iMac computer... everything works, it's updated, what could be wrong?

thanks, Kathy P.

I recently posted a question in - as I thought - the Mozilla community/support forum. I don't exactly remember the link I went to, but since I am logged in to my browser with a Firefox account, I could opt to log in to that forum with it, I didn't need to type my password, just click the button to use my existing account. So far so good.

I got an answer via e-mail. The email contained no plain link back to the post or answer. It contained a big green button "Mark as solved" and a link "This doesn't solve my problem", graphically positioned as to make it quite analogous to the big green button.

I didn't want to quickly mark the answer as either one, I wanted to go there to reply.

In the answer, however, the person answering me included a link to another post. I hoped that, clicking on this one, would - first of all - be of interest, and - secondly - lead me back to the forum in a neutral way so that I could find my own post there via my profile. Again, I clicked on a button to use Mozilla to login. Now I seem to have a second profile, the two are obviously not the same. Also, the forums don't quite seem to be the same. Support Mozilla vs Connect Mozilla. Why are they handled differently, why didn't I get the option to login with my firefox-account, when Connect Mozilla even gets my email adress automatically from it?

So, I had to try one of the buttons, they have different link addresses. I obviously tried the one that said "This doesn't solve my problem", and it plainly led me back to the answer on the (correct) forum and opened the replyform, also showing a button again: "Solved" and "This doesn't solve my problem". Why isn't the link in the email just labelled as linking you back to the forum, like "View thread" or "Reply to thread".

In addition I did not easily understand how to vote for the suggested idea in the linked post. A community manager had posted the reply that the post is now idea-status and that it is open to "votes (aka kudos)". No link or button to do it. Some scrolling around led my eye to an answer in the post to have one kudo, so I understood it had something to do with the like-button. Scrolled up to the original post, which did not have the word kudo on its like button, just a number. Hovering over it I finally got to know that I could give kudos by pressing this button. I got confused since several answers had this button. It was just a like-button to me, not the special vote-button that only appears if a manager opens the vote. Why is the manager text not just: "Vote (aka 'leave kudos') by clicking the like-button, which is now enabled."

16.7.2024

I read this German article:

Firefox 128 liefert per Default Daten für Werbetreibende

Mozilla lässt eine neue Technologie für "datenschutzfreundliche digitale Werbung" in den Firefox einziehen. Die Aktivierung erfolgt ohne Einwilligung der Nutzer.

Which means Firefox 128 Delivers per-default Data for Advert agencies. Mozilla allows a new technology for "Date protection friendly digit Advertising" on Firefox. The activation is without permission from the user.

This is not good at all. I am now thinking of rejecting Fierfoy and moving to Opera or similar. Why did Morzilla take this fatal step?

The latest Firefox update has made it impossible for me to log into https://www.discover.com/ I consistently receive the following error message: "Your account cannot currently be accessed. Outdated browsers can expose your computer to security risks. To get the best experience on Discover.com, you may need to update your browser to the latest version and try again. For questions, please contact us at 1-800-347-7769. We're always available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Pop up blocker in the address bar has been manually turned off and antivirus VPN has been manually turned off. Discover has told me the problem is with the browser not their website. I can access the account via one of the less secure browsers (edge) but am not comfortable with that company and would prefer this glitch being fixed if possible. Firefox info is version 128.0 and it automatically updated earlier this week. Thank you. Enjoy your weekend. Laurie

Hello everyone, I don't know where it comes from (my screen or moz update), but I have a problem I didn't have before. When I open the tabs menu, the option to close a tab by sliding it laterally is way too sensitive. When I slide vertically to navigate, I very often close one of my tabs. Very annoying. I checked in the parameters if there was an option to deactivate that (Especially that there are crosses on each tabs to close them. The lateral sliding is pretty useless). Is there an option in about/config to deactivate that parameter please ? Thanks in advance.

Hello! I accidentally clicked to restore default setting in the customize toolbar menu, and now all of my tab/address bar/bookmark bar setting and locations are different and I don't like it at all. Previously, the address bar was above the tabs and the full length of the window. Now the tabs are at the top and the address bar is on the same bar as the bookmarks I have saved to the bookmark bar. The address bar goes full length if I remove the bookmark bar but I want to have both on the screen at the same time, on their own bar, as I did before. I have looked through the all of the settings and customize options, and can't find anything that will move my address bar to the top above the tabs, or a way to keep the address bar and bookmark bar open and available separately. Help! Thanks. :)

Why on God's green Earth is there a widget by default that has access to my location? I understand that it's just for weather but it is seriously unacceptable that a browser that claims to care so much about privacy plasters my location on my screen for all to see when I open a new tab. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea and how can I turn it off?

If you open this website: https://www.zonnebloem.nl/ with the option Enhanced Tracking Protection the cookiebot popup banner is not shown as the third party tracking cookie from domain https://consent.cookiebot.com is protected and NOT loaded.

Does this mean Mozilla Firefox sees the https://consent.cookiebot.com cookie as a third party tracking cookie that needs to be blocked as nobody gave consent to load the cookiebot consent popup?

Question 1: Is according to Mozilla Firefox https://consent.cookiebot.com a third party tracking cookie that needs to be blocked if you as a user want to have guarantees over your privacy online?

Question 2: Is it not strange to see Firefox blocking a widely used cookie consent system to protect users by giving consent to select which cookies will be set yes/no?

I recently got seriously worried when I became aware about the new AI firewalls these days, which monitors or inspect SSL encrypted packets, before the packets reach to the main website. These new AI firewall systems are installed in some countries by their governments to suppress free speech, or just spy on its people. These firewalls, as you may already know, uses DPI-SSL system, which decrypts packets traveling from user to the main website. To decrypt the HTTPS packets, these firewalls uses its own self signed CA certificates. So I am asking the firefox developers, that why you guys allow this privacy issue? Does the packets sent from a firefoxe browser to other websites are also decrypted, by these firewalls? If yes, then why you guys allow this? Firefox must ONLY allow a specific CA certificate made for firefox browser only. Firefox browser must never let other third party softwares, or any software, to decrypt its encrypted packets. This is a serious privacy issue. With these firewalls, they can see what users write in chats, or posts, they can see witch content we are watching on a website, they can see who we follow on social media platforms, they can see which content or posts we like and etc. Even passwords are not safe anymore, which e use for any website of platform. When passwords are not safe, so does our accounts of various websites. This is a serious privacy breach.

These firewalls is a weapon for those countries which want to suppress free speech or suppress opposition sides in a government or spy on its own people.

Please let me know if I am mistaken or my concerns are genuine.

I am on a Windows 10 Pro PC 64 Bit OS with 16GB of memory, running Bit Defender Total Security. I have used Firefox for many years and have never had a problem The browser is version 128.0.2 (64-bit). A few days ago in the application menu told me there was an update and said to install it because it couldn't check for updates. I downloaded and installed it three times now, but the problem still persists. My Bit Defender also keeps popping up messages telling me "firefox.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an unmatching security certificate to aus5.mozilla.org. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since the used certificate was issued for a different web address than the targeted one." I have had over 2000 of those messages in the past few days.

I have never had an issue like this before. Is there a glitch in the most recent update? What can I do to fix it outside of resetting my browser, which logs me out of my google accounts and causes me to not be able to get back into them.
