Hi all, New (ish) user to TB here so please be gentle ha ha!

I was using a 2013 Mac on Catalina and recently moved onto a 2019 Mac running Sequoia.

Everything copied over from old system onto new, however when I opend TB on the new Mac, my font is tiny and when I open a new email that is tiny too. The only way to enlarge it is to hold the CMD key and press + 6 times to get it to the size I want it.

I have been through all the articles etc to try to get it to stay enlarged, but as soon as I log off and back in, it goes back to being tiny.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thunderbird version: 140.1.1esr (aarch64) MacOS 15.6

After the most recent Thunderbird update, I noticed that one of my local folders was completely empty. When I do a search for an email that was in that folder, the email shows as a search result, but when I click on the search result, it opens a new tab and says 'no message found' - although a preview of the email is visible in the search results.

I have tried restoring a backup of the local folders from my Time Machine backup, and while restoring those files did wind back all the other local folders and emails, it did not restore any emails into the problematic folder, even going back to my oldest time machine backup on the 26th of May this year - when I know the emails were still accessible - didn't help.

It's clear that the emails are still there, in some form, since the search function can sort of find them, however there is an issue retrieving and viewing them.

I am hoping someone can help! Thank you in advance, Claire.

Thunderbird is set as my default email client on my desktop Windows 10 in the default apps and it's set in the Default Programs control panel but when I try to send a document on my desktop to mail recipient, a message comes up saying there is no email program associated to perform the requested action. It is set in Thunderbird as well as the default mail client. Cortana is no longer accessible on Windows 10 on my pc. Thunderbird is set as the email client in the registry settings, I have only a few Startup programs running on startup and cleared the cache in Thunderbird so I don't know what else to do to fix this?

I have Comcast as my internet service provider. I use Thunderbird to download a copy of my e-mails from their server and send e-mails out through their server. Until about a month ago, Thunderbird, which I used for many years will not send my e-mails but will still allow me to receive my e-mails. When I try to send an e-mail, I get an error message that says Login to server smtp.comcast.net with username (then my e-mail address).net failed. I had read on Google that Thunderbird was having some trouble and one of the fixes was to uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it. Also, to check my settings on my computer which I did and nothing has worked. When The message doesn't go through, after this failure message, I then get this message "Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.comcast.net. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'. I tried changing my password and it did not help. I also contacted the Comcast security team which was able to help me with a previous Thunderbird issue but not this one. They said the problem was with Thunderbird this time. Can anybody assist me with this please?

Recently, the Thunderbird email product quit working propertly. It requires me to log into the account each time I wish to open an email. This has been happening for the last week to 10 days. I have to reenter my password each time. Example, I open an email after logging in for the whatever many times it has been during the day, and I need to answer the email but need to get some information first. I go get the information and the email program requies me to log in again, even if it has been just a few minutes. This has not happened in the past. I have been using Thunderbird for a very long time, many many years and never had this happen before. I loaded the program on my laptop that I use when I travel or am not at home. Same thing happens with it.

This is highly frustrating and time wasting to have to do that. There is nothing I have found that shows me how to address this. My phone has a different email program and that does not happen when using the phone. And like I said, I have been using this email program for a very long time and have not experienced this in the past.

Is there access to a user's manual or some quick guide to help me with this? I am not a tech newby, but I'm not an IT professional either, which was why I choose using Thunderbird many years ago. It seemed user friendly at that time.

Thank you kindly for your help. Ken

Hi folks,

New to Mac after 40 years of Windows using Outlook for Windows very successfully. Power User.

I do not like Mac Mail or its three pane model. It has quirks such as an individual email window will not remember its screen position! Outlook for Mac is neutered. So I consider Thunderbird.

Will Thunderbird:

1. Use Mac contacts? 2. Use Mac calendar? 3. Open a single email in a separate window that remembers its size and positions? 4. All me to delete or not and move to the next unread message from the separate window?

With these answers, I can get more granular about deciding if Thunderbird is the solution I am seeking.

Thanks!

Suddenly, the conversation view has disappeared from my Thunderbird. This happened in version 128, and I have now updated it to the latest version, 138.0.2, but the problem persists. Previously, if I selected any message and right-clicked, there was a local menu option 'View as conversation' (or something similar - I use a localised version). Now, if I right-click the message, it opens with only two options: 'Open in a new pane' or 'Open in a new window'. No conversation view. The default shortcut (CTRL + SHIFT + O) does not work either.

(I did not change any settings, I only compacted folders and tried to rebuild thir index because the global search did not find existing messages.)

Any help on how to restore this functionality would be very much appreciated! Thanks

My (our) ISP started using new 'bigger/better' software. grrr

The ISP's tech support had me close (? delete ?) my Thunderbird e-mail account & start a new one.

I cannot access - use any of the ?17-19? folders. How do I, if I can, recover the folders so I can start moving relevant messages to them?

Good luck, remain WELL & be SAFE!

THANKS!

Robin

After deleting an email (GMAIL) from any folder and emptying Trash, the email is still in "All Mail". Deleting from "All Mail" and emptying Trash still leaves the email in "All Mail" - in fact, selecting the email to be deleted in "All Mail" and then selecting "Delete" causes them to disappear and then reappear. This used to work correctly. Using !39.0.1 64 bit version. Note: I recently had to reinstall Thunderbird after a systems issue - causing me to reinstall Windows 11 and noticed the problem after that. It might be that the GMAIL "Trash" folder has been linked to "All Mail". I can delete the emails by signing on to GMAIL on the web and deleting them that way.
