Hello all!

Me and my colleagues are using Thunderbird already 5-6 years. We are very happy with it!

Until Supernova ... It was like a jam full of "flavors" ... however ... All my colleagues use it ( I don't know how?, in my opinion they just don't give a ****, or exist on other planet ) ... except me and one other person.

ON QUESTION !

So on 1st PC updates are disabled in Registry via "DisableAppUpdate" and there are no signs of this Supernova! On 2nd PC is just like this, but on 22.03 thunderbird updated itself! Steps that I made are these :

1. Deleted compatibility.ini 2. Downgraded to 102.15 3. Created distribution folder with policies.json (will copy text below the post) got them from : https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/ 4. Renamed updater.exe 5. Created more registry entries /// "AppAutoUpdate"- 0, ExtentionUpdate - 0 6. Uninstalled maintenance.exe

After all this thunderbird is working just fine. I restarted PC several times, made a shutdown - all OK. Until the next morning. And every morning I just added more settings I founded in internet until I ended here. Today is day 4. And same again ...

Please for some help.

Best Regards,

Importing thunderbird accounts stored without access to profiles on OS drive

Hello,

I have several email accounts stored on a different internal hard drive, when I say stored I mean choosing a different location in the thunderbird account settings for each email to store the mail boxes, filter rules etc.

I sent my machine back in for repairs and long story short the OS drive ended up being wiped. From what I've seen, in order to import the email profiles which seem to be stored on the OS under approaming or something similar.

I'm struggling to find a way to import my existing accounts with what I have on my other drive. Any ideas on how I might be able to do this?

I've just replaced Windows 10 with a clean install of Windows 11 and then did a clean install of Thunderbird. No snags and Thunderbird is working fine on all my email accounts. BUT No Thunderbird folders in Windows Explorer are visible. I've looked for my Profiles folder where Thunderbird says it is but it's not there or it's invisible! Similarly there are no visible Thunderbird folders under any program folders. As my emails are working fine, none of this would matter except I do local email backups using a batch program run by Windows task scheduler so I need to be able to get to the profiles folder for this (been running fine for years under Windows 10). Also I'm curious! So, is this entirely a Thunderbird problem, or entirely a Windows 11 problem, or some interaction between the two. Any solutions? Many thanks for any help you can give. Clive

When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).

Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?

I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.

Thanks for the help!
