How to migrate/import accounts when moving from 32-bit to 64-bit thunderbird

Now that from thunderbird V 68.0 the 64-bit version is generally available how do we import all the 32-bit accounts to a 64-bit installation? I have installed the 64-bit version 68.0 and since upgraded to v 68.1.0 but both versions totally ignore the existing 32-bit thunderbird accounts. The 32-bit continues to function, so must be able to still find the existing profiles. How do I get the 64-bit installation to recognise and use these existing accounts? The Import everything simply reports "No application to import data from found.", so it appears to ignore the existing thunderbird accounts. The 32-bit version is installed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla-org\Thunderbird" whilst the 64-bit version is in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla-org\Thunderbird".

I assume this to be true since I spent the afternoon going up three levels of *escalation* on a live call to get the answer from them.

My questions are: 1) Why would Thunderbird not yet (September, 2019) be compatible with the oauth password security system required by a major US email provider? When, if ever, is this omission going to be addressed and included.

Using the only available workaround they offer for non-compliant insecure email clients, called a *secure mail key,* is not really a very modern solution to an internal inherent security flaw in a software program.

i've already tried all of the fixes stated here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files and i've tried logging out my mozilla account and downloading, i've tried starting firefox in safe mode without any add-ons, i've tried pretty much everything i can think of. no matter what the download fails and a 0kb file is created instead. when i try to download a webpage i get a 0kb html file and a folder containing all the contents of the html file, also i can download images perfectly fine even though it says they fail. i've tried downloading multiple types of files and it's not just webpages, .zip files fail, .exe files fail, everything that isn't a photo fails. the only other thing i can think of is .pdf files do a similar thing to html files, where a 0kb .pdf is created and a .pdf.part file is created the size of the actual pdf. also i've tried downloading using other browsers (excluding chrome, because it crashes my pc on startup) and they've worked perfectly fine, firefox and firefox nightly are the only programs having this issue.

Thunderbird 68.2.0.

I changed the Google password.

My phone recognized the change, asked for the new password which I entered, and everything was fine on the phone.

In contrast, upon entering Thunderbird on a Win 10 laptop I get a series of 3 screens. The first is entitled "One account. All of Google" which permits the entry of the email address. The second sceen allows the entry of the password. And the third screen has 2 buttons - "Allow", and "Deny." I click "Allow" and am returned to the Thunderbird main screen. The mouse pointer is trailed by the question mark, and the "Index" tab has the circling O. If I click on any of the folders, the first of the 3 screens detailed above is display, and the process starts again. No emails are incoming or outgoing.

Please help, James T.

Hi, I'm currently using Thunderbird 70.0b4 on Mac. I would like to abandon the beta channel and switch back to the release one, but the simple re-install method I've read elsewhere does not fit my situatioin: if I install the current release (68.2.1) and start it, it complains that my profile has been created with a more recent version and refuses to start.

Of course I do not want to create a profile from scratch because I have tons of accounts, rules, etc. in my old profile.

What can I do? Will a future release version be "recent enough" that it will be able to read my 70beta profile?

Thanks.

I just installed 68.1.2 and all my emails and address book are gone. How do I restore them? I understand there is something called profile manager, but I can't find it. Also, when I go to C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ there are two listed and one of them is a little over 700 MB, so that has to be the one I want.

TIA

Hello

Please can someone explain a simple way that I can transfer thousands of emails in Outlook Express on an old PC running Windows XP into the latest version of Thunderbird on a new Windows 10 PC. I have tried everything and am pulling my hair out!! What doesn't help is that TB only imports from Outlook (not Express) or something called Becky! which I have never heard of. If this is going to involve a lot of messing around, can someone suggest an alternative free email program that will work with the .dbx files that Outlook Express uses?

Thank you.

There are several posts on this site regarding uninstalling Firefox. I am running current Firefox on current W10 64bit 1903 desktop PC using Ethernet with Spectrum as my ISP. I am having a couple of problems in Firefox that are not happening in current Chrome. 1. Page-not-found 2-8 times a day that resolve every time by simply clicking the "retry" (or something close to that) button. I reset my router to "factory" and installed most current router firmware but that did not help. Netgear Support has been unable to help. 2. In current LastPass addon, I have to re-login to LastPass every time I start Firefox - did not used to do that (a year ago), and in Chrome or Edge that does not happen. I have re-installed the LastPass add-on. I have upgraded Firefox many times and have cleared history/cache many times. So now I want to COMPLETELY remove Firefox, reboot, and then install Firefox from scratch. Can someone please point me to the web page that tells me how to properly remove all of Firefox so that I can re-download/install it from the beginning? I do not care about retaining my Firefox settings or other from my current Firefox install.

So I've been using Firefox for quite a while now, both at home at work and on my phone. I've never had any issues with anything. I've had the same 3 extensions running since the installation of Firefox(Momentum tabs, Popup blocker and uBlock Origin)

But recently, Firefox has been uploading insane amount of data to the point where it just does not make sense. I'm adding two images, 1st shows my trend over the last 4 months while the 2nd shows how much data Firefox has been sending while being on (with a reset) for about 4h.

It became an issue because i usually do not close my computer and leave Firefox open with the tabs open (on average 5) and it was consuming all that data while i was at work While a "fix" could be well, close your Firefox, if this keeps up I'll just switch browser.

As far as what tabs are kept open a few Stock images website, GogoAnime, and usually my e-mails or work where i've left it off. No streaming website is left opened

I've got no active VPN connections, I've got complete control of my network and am beyond 100% certain that the issue comes from firefox, no other IP are on my network and lastly disabling all of my extensions has not changed the behavior of Firefox. My Firefox is up to date, (70.0.1) so everything else on my computer, from windows, gpu to all other drivers

Any help would be appreciated, otherwise i'll just change browser. (tried leaving on Chrome and it hardly uploads anything whatsoever)

I have three computers and three mail accounts. I had to completely setup computer 1 from scratch (Win10 Pro 63-Bit). Unfortunately mail account A of the three mail accounts on computer 1 opens completely empty while the other two mail accounts are accessible from this computer.

Copying the profile.ini from computer 2 to computer 1 does not help either (mail accounts are stored on a NAS, therefore the path to the mail accounts is the same).

The profiles.ini files of the two computers are completely the same.

What is wrong, how can I fix the problem?

Any more information needed?

Thank you for your help, Holger
