TB version: 115.1.0 (64-bit) Windows 10 (corporate laptop)
Fresh laptop, fresh install of TB.
When trying to connect email@example.com (not really my email), TB correctly detects that my domain is hosted at Google, configures IMAP and SMTP for OAuth2, and pops up the window to authenticate.
Instead of an authentication prompt, I'm met with this error:
Text: Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue
Thunderbird detected a potential security threat and did not continue to accounts.google.com because this website requires a secure connection.

After the automatic upgrade to 115.2.2, I have lost access to all my folders, emails and calendar entries. But I can still see my addresses by using Tools/Address Book, and my filters by using Tools/Message Filters.
When I started Thunderbird for the first time on 115.2.2 I got to the usual message page which had all the tabs of the "open" emails I had when I last closed Thunderbird. But there was no sign of my folders and I couldn't get to any other messages (See first screenshot). I also had a second occurrence of Thunderbird running (I could have hit the icon a second time) that didn't show the tabs I had on the first screen. (No screen shot)
On a previous post here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1424153 it was suggested that I try Troubleshoot mode. That made no difference and at that time I had no folders showing, and just two tabs. I suspect after that I deleted the tabs.
Now I get a completely blank page in what is usually the message/folder area. Also the button for the address book above the message pane has now gone disappeared (Second screen shot), and I can find no way of accessing my previous (10years+ of messages).
It looks to me as if something is wrong in the profile.
Where do I go from here?
The newest version of Thunderbird, installed on Sept. 28, 2023, doesn't work on my computer. How can I revert to the previous version?

I currently am running FF vers. 109.0.1 64 bit on Win 10 pro. I don't like what I've been reading about the latest update, my machines are old and I'm not ready to upgrade so I don't want an even more overloaded/uses up more CPU, etc., version of Firefox. I don't have complex needs in a browser, so some of the "upgrades" haven't been useful for me or have made using FF more difficult.
I found a list of what I guess are older versions but no information was provided on how to choose a version of say v. 110, to make sure it's the right one for my laptop and/desktop (or the one that will work w/the fewest problems) that it's in English, etc. My impression is that FF is mostly worked on by people who have a variety of needs & interests so increasing sophistication is what they want and that's fine, I'd like to keep using FF w/my current machines, w/as simple a version ,ie., useful for an unsophisticated user. Is that possible? If so, I'd like to upgrade to 110 64 bit or perhaps 111 64 bit unless either or both had huge security holes, etc and many users found they weren't very functional. I do have security software.

That's it. No options, no explanation, no KB articles, nothing. It just doesn't work. But why is Thunderbird trying to open a web connection to my local machine? If it's trying to talk to itself, why can't it? This is clearly an issue with trying to authenticate to Google as it happens after auth, but come on, this is a given requirement these days. If your app doesn't work out of the box (MacOS 13 btw), it may as well not exist for the OS, so this is very confusing.
Trying out older versions was a real comedy of failures as well. Too old and it's just a disaster. Too new and it just self updated to 115 again which doesn't work. So kinda seems like this is not a functional app anymore, at least not on Mac. Baffling. I guess it can only be used with legacy style email systems.

Well, either I get to roll back to the old UI, or the pre-Supernova Tbird, or I'm done with Tbird and done donating. This update is absolute shite and not being warned of the changes it would make was really, really shitty.
So how do I roll back, oh geniuses who developed this new shite Tbird?

None of the following have worked to resolve this issue yet:
Any thoughts what I'm doing wrong, or what else I can try?
Thank you.

Thunderbird was working under MacOS Ventura, and I do remember setting up 2 Step Verification to make that happen. Several other websites were later added, apparently using 2 Factor Authentication, instead. I followed the instructions to upgrade MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma. Everything except Thunderbird continued to work correctly. I tried to use the "old" app specific password to get Thunderbird to work again, but that failed. Then I tried to find the MacOS tool under Sonoma to allow me to regenerate the app-specific password for Thunderbird, but it's no longer available (replaced by 2fa, I assume).
1. How do I restore 2sv support for Thunderbird under Sonoma? 2. Will it cause the newly installed 2fa apps to fail?
I have "lots" of stuff in my Thunderbird email repository that are no longer accessible via what remains of Thunderbird (basically, the directory structure). Please help me recover from this disaster.
Thanks!
