A PC of mine crashed a couple months ago. I now have a new Windows 10 box, and I need to connect to an email server that has accumulated a lot of email since the crash.

I installed Thunderbird v78.3.1 - it says 32-bit - is there a 64-bit version?

Anyway, on creating the account, I always get the following error:

"Unable to login at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I can readily connect via telnet, login and read a message - so, clearly, I know my username and password.

I have Thunderbird 68 installed on one PC and just installed Thunderbird 78 on another. I was able to configure all the mail accounts etc. OK but having problems with the Address Book. I exported them from Thunderbird 68 (2 files) and that seemed to go OK. I then tried to import them into Thunderbird 78 and it gave some errors but it also created duplicate Address books. 2 Personal and 2 Collected.

How do I have them imported and saved into the Address books that are already there?

Any tips to get this to work?

I uninstalled Libre Office and it apparently uninstalled the VCRUNTIME140_1.dll file s part of its uninstall process. From this point Firefox would open but would not connect to the Internet, either by clicking one of the links in the toolbar or typing the address directly. I have tried all the solutions I can find on the support pages, ranging from attempting to copy the file from another location to re-installing Visual C++ from the Microsoft website, both the 64 bit and the x86 versions. Having found and installed the latest version of Visual C++ I now get the error message "The procedure entry point _CxxFramehandler4 could not be located in the dynamic link library C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCP140.dll" at the edn of the installation process, and of course Firefox has not installed. Any suggestions for a way forward?

I have been using TB for many years, but with the latest update to version 78 I cannot connect my Google contact list as the addon I used is not longer compatible. The suggestions I have read about is to use TBSync, which I have installed, but I can't get it to connect to my Google account. Each time I try autodiscover I get a message saying it has failed. I tried to manually enter the server name, but that wouldn't work either.

I can't find any support instructions in the Add In web site or on the Mozilla support site. Can anyone help?

Can I revert to an earlier version of Thunderbird?

Hi, I recently had a problem with a pc but before it all went south I managed to save my data including my thunderbird profile. I imported this profile onto a spare pc no problem. The pc with the problem has now been fixed but it did require a new hard drive and a clean Windows install. I have reinstalled Thunderbird and imported my saved profile, the first time I start thunderbird all is fine and everything shows as it should. If I close it and then reopen it I get this:-

I have tried importing the profile a few times and reinstalled thunderbird tree times but still get the same result.

I'm sure I carried out the exact same proccess when I migrated the profile to the other pc with no problems so I'm not sure what is going on.

Since updating my iMac to Thunderbird 78.4.2 last night, I cannot pull in anymore email. It won't accept my password for the ATT server, though ATT will. How do I get help to use this new update again?

I’m running a windows 8.1 computer with several open tabs in my browser. This computer crashed and I can’t get back into windows to sync up (I’ve tried booting from various sources, automatic repair, etc. it just won’t boot up). I hope that I’ll be able to extract my important files from my hard drive. I’m setting up a new windows 10 computer. My question is, can I copy over a file from my old computer to my new computer that Firefox will recognize and open up the tabs that I was last working on from my old computer? I have not synced, but the last time that I was able to use my old computer I did close Firefox cleanly, and I was able to log off from windows with no serious issues. Hopefully there is a file that I can copy over which will simply allow me to continue working on my open tabs. Thanks in advance.

GoDaddy has migrated us all to Office365 as their email server. I'm able to receive email on my Thunderbird on Mac Big Sur 11.0, but when I send email, it asks for the password and then rejects it. I tried changing the password in GoDaddy, tried restarting the computer, and GoDaddy's support chat was not helpful. Is this a Thunderbird issue? I see from three years ago that Thunderbird did not support Microsoft's proprietary authentication stuff, but the settings all seem to be available now that match GoDaddy's specs. Thoughts?

I need to send my PC to the vendor (FNAC) for reparation. I want to clean my confidential files before sending it. Concerning firefox : how to desinstal it from my PC only, and reinstall it after repair with all the previous parameters and setting already installed ( list of passwords, ...)

said differently, I don't want to cancel it definitly because I use it on another computer and I want to recover it after my PC repair.

I've used and loved TB for decades. I have local folders with years of emails that I store on an external drive. I have many filters I use to move emails to these folders. Everything was fine. I never had a problem with automatic upgrades till 68. Then I thought things might get fixed in 78. I've floundered around with profiles, but try as I might, I cannot recover. I did find the archive of old releases thanks to a posting on this site. My latest difficulty is that when I install and try to run the release I want I get the error message

"Close Thunderbird A copy of Thunderbird is already open. Only one copy of Thunderbird can be open at a time."

I know there is not a copy of TB running. I have logged out and back in. I have deleted all the files I can find related to TB. Is there a list of files that need to be deleted?

Thunderbird keeps asking to setup existing email address after the Big Sur update on Mac. It's not saving the login details and accounts which have been setup already.

Upon the last update (v.83), my favourite Flash golf game "World Golf Tour" ceased to work.

The makers of the game have already taken steps to move to a different platform on January 1st ... but the existing Flash version still works perfectly ... until YOU came along!

Your so-called "update" made it impossible to even load World Golf Tour's menu screen - I heard the music, but the graphics were frozen.

I'm no Sherlock - but this problem only occurred when Firefox updated.

It took me ages to downgrade back to v.82.3 - but WGT loaded perfectly when I did it.

Proving that it's YOUR fault! So don't give me this "most problems are caused by other peoples' software" stock answer crap.

I WILL upgrade to the latest version of Firefox on January 1st, not one second before.

Is there any way I can turn off the "Download Firefox Update Reminder" until then?

Ever since Nov 3 and the last Thunderbird upgrade, I cannot get my emails through Thunderbird, although I can send them OK. I tried changing from POP to IMAP as I thought that might be the problem, but I still don't get the emails. My provider says "not my problem." What else can I try?

Sorry to insist, but I'm totally stuck. The lastes TB upgrade has deleted all the messages that I had received, but the file still exists when I open TB, contrary to the sent, draft and trash files which have also disappeared. On the C: drive, the INBOX, SENT, DRAFT and TRASH files have been deleted (or hidden ? or displaced ?) and all I see are .msf files. 3 years' work down the drain. I can no longer receive or send any new messages. This concerns only the mailbox which is on IMAP. I have another mailbox with another address which is on a traditional POP server, and it still works. I tried to understand something to the report, but it is too complex for me to understand what went wrong. I couldn't find any information or solution in the GetHelp section. If I download again TB I fear I might definitely lose everything. Are the deleted files hidden somewhere and retrievable or totally and definitely lost? Or should I use another software more compatible with IMAP? Thanx...

Hi, I am an experienced firefox user for more than 2-3 years. But i recently need NPAPI plugins to do certain works. I learned that i need 32 bit to do that. I already have 64 bit. Now my question is can i have 32 and 64 bit at the same time? If i can't, then can i migrate my data from 64 bit to 32 without any data loss? i am free to give further info if needed. Thank You!

I bought Huawei mate 40 & as you know doesn't have Google services. what shock me Firefox not available in Huawei AppGallery. & the other shock is Firefox website doesn't have a direct download without redirecting me to Google Play! I like my phone & Firefox so what to do?!
