1) I have Thunderbird 78.5.0 on my five-year old Windows 10 laptop and want to copy my data files to my new Windows 10 HP desktop pc.

2) I read and followed the directions in "Moving Thunderbird Data to a new Computer". I tried it several times, but I could not get it to work. Each time I pasted in the files, but when I opened Thunderbird, the new account window came up and none of my data was there.

3) I read the article "No Success with Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer" and tried the method on appuals.com using MozBackup as described on appuals.com. That program indicated a corrupt file, so again, unsuccessful.

4) I tried to download the Restoro Repair app from appuals.com, but my anti-malware program gave a warning, so I aborted.

5) I read the article from MozillaZine on "Move to a New PC", but nothing I tried from there worked either. I started with downloading the more recent MozBackup version, but I still got the corrupt file message. I also tried moving pieces of the profile file as directed, but then Thunderbird was unable to open at all.

6) I deleted the Thunderbird app from the desktop and downloaded another copy, which I am ready to install. However, I still need help on moving the data!

Hi guys, I need help for a problem I'm facing. Here (where I work) we have three computers with the same account. They use POP. It works pretty good but sometimes, when one of the computers reads the email the another two can't download it. And it's bad because all of the three people have to see the emails. So I went in the server of the email to ask if its possible to make all the computers download the emails, but its pretty hard to do this with a POP account, because to all the 3 computers see the email it can't be marked as read. So if I do this, the peoples who uses the computer will not know what email was read. Sooooo they tell me to use IMAP. Its the best option, but i cant leave all the emails in the server because it will be full soon. So i see a option that is, use IMAP, make a copy from the email in the server for a local place, and them put the thunderbird or the server to exclude the emails read or after one week. Buuutt it has a lot of emails every day, and make a copy for every single email it will be boring and annoying. So now the question. Does thunderbird have some plugin or configuration who just copy every email automatically to a local place? I have to make this for every email? I have another solution from this problem?

This issue is occuring for couple weeks now. When i click download nothing happenes. No matter what i try to download, it wont work. I do my downloads in another browser :D Why is that happening? I did reset firefox by the way and there were couple downloads and then it broke again. I have this add on saves backup automaticly and here we can see there is something wrong because it cant save the file.

Why, why, why do you always have to jack stuff up every time I upgrade??? Why does it feel like I have Internet Explorer on my desktop now? What do you cram these changes down our throats? Whatever happened to user choice?

First of all, I hate that I can't turn off upgrade notification like I used to. You keep bugging me until I do upgrade, and when I do, YOU JACK ME UP OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I upgraded to 78 and you closed the one tab I had open, that I needed. Thanks, I really appreciate that.

You took ALL OF THE COLOR out of the application!!! Everything is jacked up white - the background behind emails, folders, everything. I hate you.

As the subject line popped up before I typed it I assume this is a familiar issue.

I now have duplicate accounts which I cannot edit because (in server settings) I get An account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name I also get the pop-up (below) for my pop account password every time I log-in - which I cancel.

Could you point me in the direction where this must have been answered previously. Thanks.

It looks like hundreds of people have the same problems I do and no "undo" button for this new 78 that DISABLES my current email addresses! I am so upset over this DAMAGING MY BUSINESS! if they CARED they would have an undo button rather than forcing this. I so wish I had never "upgraded".

I am not super techie but they SHOULD allow you to go back if it doesn't work for you!

It was working fine!

I have used Thunderbird for many years and use the Gmail folder "All Mail" frequently. After a computer crash I was forces to clean reinstall of Windows 10 leaving my personal files intact. This reinstall removes all the software that Microsoft does not like including Thunderbird. I eventually downloaded Thunderbird 78. All the standard Gmail and my personal folders down loaded and established correctly and I was very pleased until I discovered two aspects of the down load vis: 1. The "All Mail" folder is missing completely. It is also missing in "Accounts/Synchronization and Storage/Items for offline storage". 2. My "Sent" folder only shows the emails I have sent since I downloaded Thunderbird. Earlier "Sent" emails do not show up. Looking directly into my Gmail account I see that "All Mail" and "Sent" mail are perfectly normal. but for some reason do not transfer to my Thunderbird program. My computer and all it's various programs otherwise appears to be completely normal. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. My thanks to you all at moz://a - have the best possible Christmas and New Year despite your dreadful Covid difficulties. Regards Tony Moore

I was trying to instal Posteo.net on thunderbird and I kept on getting an error message saying that i had put in the wrong password. I changed the password on Posteo and still got the same message. I reinstalled thunderbird and got the same. Originally it was alright because I managed to download some emails from Posteo but then things went wrong and I could no longer connect to it.

I bought a new computer so I am trying to back everything on the old computer up to a new external hard drive prior to setting up the new one. I have managed to find my profile for Thunderbird with no problems. However, when I try to paste it to 1) another drive on my current hard drive, 2) the new external hard drive, or 3) a USB drive I get the same error.

It gets to 59%, stalls, and then says "Interrupted Action. Can't read from the source file or disk". Specifies Inbox

I tried Googling a solution, but nothing I'm trying is working. From that search, I have found out the following information if any of this helps with solving the problem. Computer hard drive is file system is NTSF while the external hard drive is Exfat. The size of the profile is 3.7 gb. It was over 4.3, but I cleaned some things out.

Thunderbird is not open while I am trying to do this and have rebooted the system after making clean up actions to email before trying to do the copy/paste so nothing should be open and interfering.

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide that would be of assistance.

I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

I upgraded from Version 78.1.1 (32-bit) to 78.2.0 and when I opened Thunderbird, the icons for most of the folders are missing.

I have attached a screenshot of the problem.

I then was prompted to upgrade to 78.2.1 so I did as I thought that this problem might be fixed but it has the same problem which must be linked to version of 78.2

I then re-installed 78.1.1 again and everything is okay again but there is obviously something wrong with 78.2.0 and 78.2.1.

Has anyone got any ideas on whether this is a bug or is there something I can do to fix it in my setup?

I seem to be connecting to my incoming mail server, but I'm not asked for my password. I haven't been able to receive incoming email on that computer since I updated to new version of Thunderbird. My outgoing mail is working fine. It's on a different server. My release notes says "Message list is not focused at startup."

today I decided to work on my PC and do some needed cleaning and updating. Part of which is to end my addiction of Outlook from Office 2007. So, I installed Thunderbird.

Problem is, the connection between Thunderbird and Gmail is not working. I've watched the Thunderbird video (didn't help) and read various online articles. Nothing is helping.

I have the ports at 993 and 465. Although I do receive the message 'The following settings were found by probing the given server'. I get two other messages.

1. My user name or password are invalid. They're not.

2. Incoming Server Already exists.

I've tried all I can think of to correct these and nothing is working.

I downloaded version 38.1, so I will be able to migrate old .pst files into Thunderbird.

What am I doing incorrectly?
