Google seems to have a problem with the Thunderbird embedded browser.

I have seen this problem with Google's desire to over compensate for all the dummies in the world already so often, to this extend, it becomes really annoying.

I have added several Gmail accounts to my Thunderbird (always latest version) 102.1.0 at the moment. This went ok after I had the cookies on accepting.

But today I get the problem that Google has decided that the embedded browser in Thunderbird is outdated. So there is no way to verify or receive the OAuth2 token needed, to add another email account.

The login window appears, credentials can be entered but after entering the password and clicking the login button, it logs you actually in but redirects to a window that shows you a message your browser is outdated and no link on the page will work.

I have seen this in the search results only once with someone using stacks, but that is not my expertise and I have no idea on even how to copy the url from the embedded browser because it is simply not possible / selectable.

In detail: I do get a login confirmation on my phone while inserting the correct password, but instead of the adding of the email account into Thunderbird, Thunderbird hangs on verifying the password and the google window changes to a "browser is outdated" window, I am logged in however, but no link is working except log out, logging in again in the same window works but then after retrying to add the account, Thunderbird tells me the server is already existing and it will keep doing that until I close the (embedded) browser window where I am logged in.

I read in the stack post from someone else with this OAuth2.0 problem who had the same experience, that this is caused by the (thunderbird?) embedded browser window being explorer or old safari based.

Is Thunderbird (Mozilla) coming with an update to solve this, or is there a workaround for a button pusher like me??

Some string I can change in the config?? (with navigation instructions please).

Any help would be appreciated

i have a new pc and i dislike windows mail in windows 11. i am attempting to install thunderbird email and the install wizard found my server ok but then it got stuck at "checking password." i know the password is correct. what can i do? i am trying to set up my regular email (mark@tdstainedglass.com) but am using a temporary email (mark2153@gmail.com) to communicate about this.

Every time I close Thunderbird, when I open it again, I have to set up my emails configuration, password and email settings from scratch as if I was installing from zero. Why?

I attach the screen I see every time I start Thunderbird, after having configured well (and even loading all my emails). This has happened already twice. What can I do so my email accounts settings are saved? I have Thunderbird in the Applications folder in iMac desktop computer on MacOS Monterey 12.2.1.

So I have my Download button visible all the time.

Yesterday, this suddenly started to happen.

When I download something, the list of Ongoing Downloads stayed open. It never did that before.

Any idea why and how to fix it?

The latest update has made it so Firefox opens the download panel every time I download something, a very obnoxious behavior when downloading a lot of files, and I can't find a way to stop that from happening.

[came across another question that brings up the same issue], but that one focuses more on a site presumably changing about:config rather than the issue of the download panel itself.

I noticed that some of the answers which solved this issue for others were describing sections of Yahoo mail which no longer exist, so I either get the can't find settings for email or the unable to login to server messages when trying to set this up now, please provide an updated answer to both IMAP and POP3, thanks.

Hello, I need your help and support. I put in steps what i had done.

1. I had a sync in my account dchisinska-br@o2.pl 2. Format C: without extracting my profile 3. After reinstal Win10 I wanted to sync but forgot the password 4. Reset password, BUT didnt know that when I change my password without Recovery Key all will be lost. 5. When I realized that this happened I found a profile from 2019. 6. Every time when I copy data form old profile to new profile browser want to refresh and whole profile is clear withou data. 7. Also I opened Help->more tools for Troubleshooting information -> Profile folder -> Open -> COPY from old to new. Nothing happened. Still have nothing.

I lost all my password, history and everything.

Please help or how to solve this problem. Or maybe you can recover data from SYNC which is missing after changing password to my mozilla account.

I used Thunderbird with apple mail on Windows many years ago on my PC. Later I shifted to eM Client because I liked the options. However, I do like the new Thunderbird 1.02 and wanted to switch back on my new PC.

In the beginning, it asks me my email account... which is a [mac.com](https://mac.com) address, and then it says it found the configuration in the database, and prompts me to finish. But that's where the problems start...

It will not download messages. It either get stuck on Opening folder INBOX and up comes the infamous Windows hourglass... which sits and sits and sits, then eventually says SERVER HAS DISCONNECTED. There may be a problem with the server has disconnected.

As before, I generated a new app-specific password so that's not the problem. The authentication configuration is SSL/TLS and Normal Password. Using [imap.mail.me.com](https://imap.mail.me.com) as the server, port 993. My SMTP port is 587.

I tried new app-specific passwords, no change. I tried using the same exact setup (but different app specific password ) that I use in eM Client which always connects perfectly with zero problems. I tried various authentication changes such as STARTTLS, SSL/TLS and None. No luck. I tried oAuth2, encrypted password, normal password, etc. No luck there either. Tried turning off Windows Defender firewall. No luck. Tried reducing number of connections from 5 to 1. No change.

I also have a separate gmail account. When I added it to Thunderbird, it started right up and immediately began downloading messages just fine. But the apple mail is STILL stuck.

ANY HELP would be appreciated. I've spent too much time on the wrong solutions. When googling, all the solutions suggest the same exact things I tried. No luck. Or the solutions are for older versions of Thunderbird.

I just updated to v103.0 and no folders or accounts display. Just blank GUI but with menus and toolbar. Under "Get Messages" dropdown I see my two account names but nothing displays in GUI. I tried Troubleshoot mode and I get the same thing. Yikes, this is horrifying. Tools->Settings and Account Settings does nothing, no display.

After a recent Thunderbird update, I no longer see my address book from Gmail. Its still there on gmail, but doesn't get loaded into Thunderbird anymore. I only have a few new addresses I used and it saved. How do I get access to the full Gmail contacts / address book again?

Hi - I have a laptop running Windows 10 that had an old version of Thunderbird installed (v.78) which had been working fine but not used for some time. I wanted to transfer my Profile (latest version) from another computer and re-installed Thunderbird at v.102 onto the "new" laptop. When manually setting up the email account I get stuck at "checking password" and setup hangs. I tried uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller and did a new installation but still get the same problem. The email account is a POP 3 mailbox and the outgoing server is SMTP - all manual settings are correct and the same as I have on the other "old" pc that I want to transfer my working account/profile from. I cannot locate a solution on the community help pages and hoped that you could assist please. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Many thanks and kind regards Graham Shepherd

I went to migrate Thunderbird to a new PC and discovered that the Tools>Export choice is missing from the drop-down menu. Attached is a screen capture. This is version 91.11.0.

Yes, I know I should be able to move the directory over from Windows Explorer, but it seems odd that this menu is missing. The Help Center article was just updated a couple weeks ago and shows the menu, so it wouldn't seem to be a deprecated feature: [[Export your Thunderbird Profile|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-export]]

Is this a bug that has somehow crept into this version or does this feature need to be enabled somewhere? I don't know how else to report this anomaly other than this forum.

I use the automatic IMAP configuration and it gives the green message that it "finds the servers" though when I press done, it gives me an error message saying the incoming server already exists.

I use the manual IMAP configuration and enter in all my details from my server and re-test and it gives me the green message saying it "found the following settings by probing the server" though when I press done, it gives me an error message saying the incoming server already exists.

Where do I go from here to configure my email?!
