I am having trouble to open firefox browser for ubuntu 20.04(focal). I have also delete mozilla folder from cache and then reinstalled again. I have tried to rename profileini file. Finally I have uninstall and install using terminal by "sudo apt install firefox" but still I am getting this error "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible".

How to resolve this.

Thanks in advance.

At some point every night, my Firefox (and only Firefox) reverts to version 111 from the latest version. This happens on 2 different Windows 11 machines.

I can only get Firefox to run again by running from command prompt with "-allow-downgrade" option and then updating again.

I usually don't notice until I launch Firefox the following morning and it gives me a message that the profile was created with an older version and to exit or create a new profile.

I've had Firefox open and then it reverts and it gives me a XULRunner error about the profile being used by an older version.

I don't have any special backup or restore software running and the physical files in my Firefox folder in c:\program files\mozilla firefox are being physically pushed to a prior version dated 3/21/2023.

On both machines, I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled and it's good for a day and then reverts.

No log entries for the reversion can be found. It's just back to a prior version.

I've never come across anything like this before and have scanned for any malware or other issue, but haven't found anything.

I was running an older version of Thunderbird (don't ask the version because the About screen now shows 115.3.1) that had a bland color scheme (best way to describe it) that I downloaded about 6 months ago. When I first opened TB today (before attempting an upgrade) I got a screen talking about the benefits of 115.3.1 and showing colorful screens with more options than I had with the current TB. With TB open, I went to Help > About Thunderbird and the screen showed an upgrade to 115.3.1 was available. I believe I clicked Upgrade (but the upgrade may have started on its own) and the new software downloaded. I saw a message saying I had to restart to complete the upgrade and assumed that meant restart my PC. I closed all applications and restarted the computer. Opening TB, I get the same old bland screen, definitely not 115.3.1. Going to Help > About Thunderbird now gets me the message that "Thunderbird is up to date." What did I do wrong and/or what should I do to get 115.3.1 installed and functioning? I'm running Windows 11. Thanks in advance.

I have two questions.

1) I have several email accounts, on various domains with various hosts, that I want to access with Thunderbird. I've installed the first one okay. But when I go to add another - Tools / Account Settings / Account Actions / Add Mail Account - it goes to a tab "Account Setup" showing the settings for the first account. I don't want to overwrite those settings, replacing the first account with the second. I want to add an account, not change the account. How do I do that?

(If I'm just supposed to change the settings that are already filled in for the first account, the interface is extremely confusing. For that matter, the expression "existing email address" is confusing - at first I thought it meant an address already added to Thunderbird, rather than an address hosted elsewhere - these things should be changed.)

2) In some cases I have multiple addresses at the same domain, and I'm using Windows 10. The following exchange is from 7 and 5 months ago. Has the issue been resolved?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/z1xerf/cant_add_second_account_from_same_domain/

Thank you.

Hello, trying to verify the integrity of firefox-118.0.1.tar.bz2 I realized the GPG key has changed.

The following blog post details the change and shows the new key: https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2023/05/11/updated-gpg-key-for-signing-firefox-releases/

But when I download the key using the link provided (which points to keys.openpgp.org) the key I get is different from the key posted on the Mozilla blog page.

What is even more strange, is that the key from keys.openpgp.org declares in the comment that 14F2 6682 D091 6CDD 81E3 7B6D 61B7 B526 D98F 0353 is the fingerprint of the key (the same that is posted on the Mozilla blog) but it can't be because the key different.

So my questions: 1) Why Mozilla is posting a link to a key that is different? 2) Why keys.openpgp.org shows the correct fingerprint with a different key?

And, in the end, which key should I trust and why.

Thanks.

Hello, I already have the stable release of Firefox for Android installed on my Samsung Galaxy A50 smartphone. What exactly will happen if Firefox Beta for Android is installed alongside the stable release of Firefox for Android? Will there be new app settings for the Beta version on the phone or are the stable release and the Beta app settings combined? I am signed into YouTube in the stable release Firefox for Android version. Once the Beta version is installed, do I have to sign out of the stable release version and sign into YouTube on the Beta version? The stable release version of Firefox for Android has unresolved issues, especially regarding YouTube, that the Beta version configurations may be able fix. Please let me know the answers to these questions and any other concerns I should know about before I install the Beta version of Firefox for Android alongside the stable release version. Thank you.

After the automatic upgrade to 115.2.2, I have lost access to all my folders, emails and calendar entries. But I can still see my addresses by using Tools/Address Book, and my filters by using Tools/Message Filters.

When I started Thunderbird for the first time on 115.2.2 I got to the usual message page which had all the tabs of the "open" emails I had when I last closed Thunderbird. But there was no sign of my folders and I couldn't get to any other messages (See first screenshot). I also had a second occurrence of Thunderbird running (I could have hit the icon a second time) that didn't show the tabs I had on the first screen. (No screen shot)

On a previous post here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1424153 it was suggested that I try Troubleshoot mode. That made no difference and at that time I had no folders showing, and just two tabs. I suspect after that I deleted the tabs.

Now I get a completely blank page in what is usually the message/folder area. Also the button for the address book above the message pane has now gone disappeared (Second screen shot), and I can find no way of accessing my previous (10years+ of messages).

It looks to me as if something is wrong in the profile.

Where do I go from here?

Today I deleted all, installed Thunderbird again, using my main gmail address and when it did not work also another gmail address and get same warning: Login to server not possible, probably wrong configuration, wrong username or password. Checking and checking again, no errors found. Thank you! Best regards, Simon Roos

I have downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox on a new computer through the Edge browser both from the Mozilla site and through the Microsoft store. The installation downloads and installs as it should. Firefox has been selected as the default browser and everything appears as it should. When I open Firefox and type in an address, nothing populates. No site will open on the screen. When I open settings in Firefox, nothing opens. When I open history, it shows that I have been to the sites that I have loaded even though they haven't shown on the browser. I have completely uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it with the same result. I have downloaded Opera browser and it installs correctly, I have downloaded and installed Firefox from Opera and had the same result. Any ideas?

Thanks, John

I will be moving all of my data to a new laptop and want to know if I need to have both my personal Firefox profile and the "default-release" profile backed up. The "default" one is over 3GB and has over 20k files in it, and my personal one is only 113 MB with 1300 files — and my thumb drive needs all the extra space it can get. (Why would the "default-release" profile be so much larger than my personal one?)

The old laptop runs on Windows and the new one will have the Linux OS. Will that make a difference in using a backed up Firefox profile? I mean, will the data still work in the new OS?
