I have set the retention policy on my Thunderbird account for 30 days both in the setting for the inbox and the All Mail inbox and I have used the same setting for my account however it only works on the inbox and I have 1745 message in the All Mail folder which intermittently deletes the older messages and then restores them.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello, I have a question about the interaction between the import profile functionality and IMAP synchronization. I am currently in the process of transferring a domain, and during that process the existing emails on the IMAP server for that domain will be lost.

If I have all the emails for that server in a thunderbird backup, and I then transfer the domain and set up another IMAP server for the same addresses, then restore the thunderbird backup, will the emails from the backup then be added to the new IMAP server? If not, does anyone have a recommended way to achieve this?

I am trying to change the setting for default apps and it is grayed out (can't change it). This is the only app that I can't change and I want to know why. Redmi note 8 pro, android 11. (Sorry if this is not the right place or it has been asked before, it is my first time needing support)

I have noticed that on certain websites which have site search boxes on their webpages (e.g. reddit, tvtropes), if I click in the box to type a search term, it will display about five suggestions which I have searched in the long-distant past in some context which I no longer recall. I generally would prefer suggestions not to show up in the first place, and I don't know why these specific terms are the specific ones which show up. Since this issue happens with site-specific search engines, rather than the search engine associated with the address bar, I'm unsure how to delete these suggestions. I normally browse in private windows, and on the rare occasion that I don't, I usually delete my history, and am unsure how the suggestions came to persist, and to persist only in the context I describe? If anyone can help, I'd be thankful.

I'd like to put the icon on my toolbar to access it when I need to, but I can't find any way to add it to the toolbar. All articles I found with the same kinds of questions are over a year old and for old versions of Firefox. I have Windows 10 Firefox version 128.

Navigation bar in latest nightly (130.0a1) is split into two toolbars, this cannot be customized.

I know it may sound a bit strange, but I would like to know WHY an extension is not allowed in a private window, so I might understand the reason why I'm not able to diagnose an issue I'm having with fucking amazon who has their cart all over the place for a misconfiguration in firefox that either I did or an extension is causing, however I'm unable to figure out which because I can't enable extensions in private windows, where the issue does not happen, so I'm not able to reproduce and isolate the problem. I already searched for this topic and found that there should exist a file named "msgFilterRules.dat" - but there isn't such file nowhere on the whole drive.

Looks like the message filter rules are actually stored in a file with another name...

But what's that name?

I installed thunderbird in a new computer via flatpak. The computer is running PopOS 22.04 and the current Thunderbird version is 128.0esr.

I don't know if this happened after the last update from 127 to 128 or was like this before, but on the compose window all the menus and buttons on the top row are completeley invisible, white on white (if I hover over them, then they are slightly visible). See the first 2 images.

The main window is OK and everything is readable (see 3rd image).

I don't know how to change these colors.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regular download works fine, but when I try to download attachment in outlook.live.com website, it didn't ask me where to store it, but simply places it in my default location, while at the same time opening the attachment even though I only want to download the file.

After uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, two sound files now play sequentially whenever a message arrives. Formerly, only one sound file played. I can't find the setting to fix this.

I recently explored the backgrounds on Firefox. I choose one of the, because they look really nice. But after I changed my Firefox Data Collection and Use settings the background disappeared.

Why do you have to keep "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" and "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" enabled?

Can I stop the popup warning about sending emails to group with all emails in the TO: field. I've been communicating this way with an open email list for decades, and the popup is very annoying.

I found the new "Close Duplicate Tabs" and would like to suggest the following, for improvement for power users.

1) It should be possible to configure an option for what should happen with the duplicate tabs. For example: it should be possible to move all the Duplicate Tabs to a new Window - so I can view all these tabs and compare them (and close them if I want that) Reason: I use a web interface to a database for documentation and sometimes I have more than one tab open with the same article - but the software behind it doesn't notice, it just stores what comes out and so it would happen that an article is accidentally overwritten.

2) According to what criteria are the duplicate tabs compared - can you set options here?

It's hard to describe what I mean without an example. I type "tart" into the search bar, and instead of the recently visited Wikipedia page on tarts, the autofill suggestions are full of pages in my history with "start" or "starter" in the title, or even in the URL but not the title. Is there any way to change it so the suggestions only contain the exact words I've typed?

I have 2 laptops, one for work and one personally. I was looking to set-up firefox on my personal laptop as well but noticed I cannot open developer console on a specific element by pressing 'q' anymore after right clicking.

This is a significant feature and I would like to keep using it. Is it possible to enable this feature on my personal computer as well? Since it is still enabled on my work device.
