You know how you can type a URL and then Ctr+Enter and FF autopopulates the .com? Well years ago "Shift+Enter" autopopulated ".net" and "Ctrl+Shift+Enter" autopopulated ".org".

I really liked that feature. I know a lot of people don't, or don't see its point; that's not important.

About three years ago, I added UserChrome.js and enable-UserChrome.js , which acomplished the two autopuopulating tasks quite nicely.

Until about four weeks ago. I don't know if an FF update stopped reading those two .js files, or if there's a conflict somewhere else, or what. I don't know where to begin - other than posting here for help.

Thanks in advance!

  • UserChrome.js is in the subdirectory: C:\Users\[ME]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gaydtewj.default-release-1
  • enable-UserChrome.js is in C:\Program Files\Internet Shenanigans\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref (firefox.exe is in C:\Program Files\Internet Shenanigans\Mozilla Firefox )

The new updates are horrible

I've been using TBird for a very long time and am thinking of leaving.

Fonts are now tiny. Can't read my mail without a struggle.

Even changing font size to be bigger in settings isn't helping, even after a restart. Fonts in mail are all too small to see. I don't have any system override set either.

Are you trying to drive older / disabled people away? Feels like it.

Please give one-button option for old look.

At this point I want to revert to last version but can't find download for old version.

Can you help me fix this please, or please show me link to get last version, and turn off updating.

For future: allow in updates to keep old look even with security upgrades. (I'd love even the old icon, but I'm sure that's asking a lot.)

IF THE LOOK ISN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT. Making someone modern while tossing old users under the bus doesn't seem like your style, until today.

p.s. I'm sure other people have this problem but it's not clear how to find this forum. I first just replied to one of your tweets, but I doubt that will be read.

[Thunderbird 115 on Ubuntu 20.04, KDE/Plasma 5.18]

In my previous version of Thunderbird (possibly 70+?) I had a menu bar (with "File", "Edit", etc) that also included some icons with functions such as "write", "search", and similar, that I used frequently. To be honest I don't remember if this could be achieved simply by "Customize..." or with some add-on.

Now in TB 115 there's a separate menu bar and a "unified" toolbar where those icons have been moved. Is there any way to move those icons & functions back to the menu bar, and remove the unified toolbar? Or vice versa: move the menu in the unified toolbar. It's a pity with the waste of vertical space.

I know that the unified toolbar has a sort of menu ("hamburger menu", the three horizontal bars, on the right), but this menu is not as convenient as the menu bar, which for example has an "Edit" menu, which I don't find in the "hamburger menu".

Cheers!

Thunderbird 115.2.3. Mac OS 10.15.7 on an older Mac mini. I use larger-sized fonts, so display real estate is limited.

I want to see the full headers, but I want them to scroll in a message header pane that I can resize (that is, I want to be able to move the horizontal line pointed to in the attached image to increase the message display area and decrease the header display area). Otherwise, it takes over my entire message space. Is there a way to do this (I haven't found it)?

I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking extensively. I've been using it successfully in Thunderbird for years now.

Suddenly today, nothing I dictate in Dragon is being recognized or typed in in Thunderbird. Dragon is working just fine here in my browser, and every place else. So I suspect the issue may not be with Dragon, but instead with Thunderbird. I applied the Universal Computer Fix of rebooting my computer, but that hasn't helped.

Is it possible something in the latest Thunderbird update has broken my ability to use Dragon?

How can I fix this?

I use the NVDA screen reader to read aloud the contents of applications on my computer.

If I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat, the screen reader will read aloud the content of the alt text associated with each image. When I open the same PDF in Firefox, however, the screen reader is evidently unable to recognise the presence of alt text; therefore it remains silent when it reaches an image - it's as if there's no alt text to be read.

Can you please clarify: is there a way for me to configure Firefox (either in the settings or in about:config) so that alt text in PDFs will be recognised by screen readers?

Hello FF community. I come here for a question, maybe a confirmation (I'm gonna try to be as short as possible ).

I'm using for years infamous Aris-t2 customCSS. I'm about to "jump" from FF v88 on my desktop to V115.0.3esr. I tested everything on my laptop, and set everything on the customCSS so it looks like my actual V88. It's almost identical, but one thing is bugging me: the scrollbar.

Scrollbar on FF115 isn't the same anymore than in V88 as you can see on the screenshot I posted (test scrbr for V115, scrbr2 for V88). The clean one with "3lines grab button" I actually use is less "eye catchy" than the new one. I've made some researches, and apparently, starting FF V97 about 2 years ago, scrollbar has been change to use W10 "flat like" one, and at FF106+, every older code was apparently removed. I tried to changed a few things in about:config, like "widget.non-native-theme.enabled" or multiple commands about scrollbar, nothing changed.

So I just wanted to know if someone could confirm me that the old scroll bar I use is now impossible to get back, or if there's a command I miss that could do the thing.

Thanks, have a nice day ^^

So, I upgraded to SuperNova and my spell checker no longer works. I removed and re-installed the dictionary extension, someplace I think it shows as installed and active. BUT it does not show my spelling mistakes as I compose an email, and when I go to send the spellchecker popup comes up with blanks. Any thoughts on what/how I can fix this. I "really" need a spellchecker.

I recently installed CardBook add-on, but it was difficult to find it; Simply typing "CardBook" and CardBook is not included in the search results. If I slightly change the search text by adding a space then just briefly in the previous searches displayed below it is listed there with an icon next to it. I click on that icon CardBook and I can then proceed and install the add-on.

I am using thunderbird 102.x on Windows 10, 7 and a number of Linux Distributions which all behave the same. I think there is a fault in the add-on search feature, although I have not observed the issue with other add-ons.

Hi, I have TB 115.2.3. I clicked an option (no idea where it was) "Hide Local Folders" from the left view with all accounts. Recently, I accidentally (unfortunate default shortcut A on the keyboard) moved some emails to my archive that I have set up in the Local folders. Unfortunately, I don't see an option anywhere to restore the visibility of the Local folders on the account tree. Even if I choose Go > Folder from the main menu and point to a local folder nothing happens!

Any idea how to restore the Local folder in view?

On youtube there's the top bar, including the search bar, youtube home, notifications, your accounts, etc.. If my mouse isn't hovering directly over this area, it becomes darker, such as the whites turning into grays. What setting in about:config should i change to make it stay light and, well, normal, no matter where my cursor is?

I've just upgraded to TB 115 (Supernova). Functionally, everything seems to be working as before. But using either "classic" or "wide" view, I seem to have lost the ability to resize the message list pane to take up less space on screen. Peviously, I had it set to show five message header lines, and now I can't get it to show less than eight (on "compact" density). That's wasting a significant amount of screen space, which is taken away from the message itself.

Before I report this as a bug, or revert to a previous version (since there's absolutely no sensible reason I can think of to enforce a minimum size of the message list pane, so I definitely want to get rid of it), is there something in the settings or config that I can use to override this behaviour?

In Thunderbird from v102 (I think) onwards, a new message is indicated by a yellow/orange diamond indicator to the left of the subject heading.

Unlike other "status flag" elements in the message list ("Read status", "Starred", "Priority" and so on) – which are columns that can be repositioned or removed like any other column – this indicator seems to be implemented as an integral part of the "Subject" column, and the user can't do anything in the UI to remove it.

(You can see from the HTML in the screenshot that it uses a placeholder img element inside the table cell that contains the subject line: the default CSS renders this img with the yellow/orange graphic.)

I could get rid of this indicator easily enough with some code in userChrome.css. However, that's not consistent with "Read status", "Starred", "Priority" etc, which a user can simply remove with the column chooser in the UI.

Am I missing something: is there a way of removing this "new message" indicator without custom CSS?

How can I change this back to CMD-Q.

Any ideas?

I have the portable version of Thunderbird, V115.2.3 (64-bit). I just updated it to this version. It looks pretty but the two top toolbars have changed position. Before the update I used to mostly just hit Get messages and Write. But now those buttons are tiny and on the very top level. I don't really use any of the buttons on the now lower level toolbar, so I have been trying for ages to swap them back but I can't find any control that lets me do this? Can anyone help please?

How can I change the font of these? and what was the font for these on previous versions?

Many thanks

If you want your 'Message List' to use alternative colour stripes often refered to as zebra style then I have put together some code and instructions on how to create the effect.

Obviously you may need to modify the actual colours used. The following works on a Light theme. The striping is white and pale grey. On hover the text is black on a pale blue background. On select the text is white on a light blue background, but strong enough to show white text clearly.

I followed the instruction to "attach the signature from a file instead" but when people reply the image/logo is not there, see attached image. I figured the image is there but just doesn't show up in replies, but someone just tole me it's not showing up on their end. What I don't understand is that when I send an email to my gmail, it's there. I just sent a test to my proton email account and viewed it from a different computer and it was there, plus when I replied it showed up on my end. So I just don't understand why other people don't see it, but I do, even in a different email viewer in a different email account on a different computer, but no one else sees it.

When I looked at the code generated when I used the "compose" to create the sig it shows this:

   CPCR<font style="font-size: 13pt"
</pre>

I replaced that with this:

   CPCR<font style="font-size: 13pt" face="Arial">

That seems to work, but what I want is to have the image directly attached to the email so it doesn't have to download if from my server when they get an email. The instruction I keep finding are not clear on how to do this or on what img moz-do-not-send="false" really means.

can someone help please? </font>
