After the last update a few days ago, I have had to go into privacy and security and reset everything, plus go into about:config and reset media.autoplay also. Still, even if the main video on a page is blocked, the little floating video remains and the sliding and floating ads and such still remain. I really need a fix for this. I do research online for a living, and having to close all these annoyances all the time is costing me time, thus money.

How do I now stop all this? Even on this page, an annoying drop-over is annoying me. Time is money, and every second counts in my work. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I'm using latest Thunderbird version on latest Windows 10 and I'm not receiving a sound or notification through the Windows 10 notification center when Thunderbird isn't open. All the options for alerts in Options > General are turned ON and Thunderbird is also set to automatically check for mails. Whenever I open Thunderbird it shows latest, new mail just fine and also plays the sound like it should.

I don't if it's normal but I noticed Thunderbird isn't present as application in Windows notifications & actions settings but "Mail" is there (that's the default Windows 10 mail client). Turning on notifications for the default Windows 10 mail application doesn't make a difference. Thunderbird is installed on my PC and set as default mail app in Windows Default apps settings.

How can I receive notifications again for Thunderbird when it's not open?

Suggestion

Dedicated home button

A few years since I last used Firefox on Android, now I'm back and I'm missing a dedicated home button on the toolbar/ address bar like the one on Opera and Chrome.

Getting from an active page back to the speed dial is not one tap but three taps, which doesn't seem to be a very efficient way to do things?

Google search tells me I'm not alone wishing for a dedicated home button on Firefox Android so perhaps something to consider seriously in a not so distant future...?

I have just installed Thunderbird (78.3) on my new (mac) computer and have found my folder colors and the text of unread or selected emails to be completely unreadable as they are white on white. This doesn't seem to be an issue talked about online, though Mozilla has apparently removed the ability to modify text color.

Does anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening? Is it on Thunderbird's end or the new Mac OS?

Currently every new email is a surprise until I click on it.

Hello,

When I try to e-mail a topic from the Firefox browser, I don't have access to my default email program - Microsoft Outlook.

I've tried: Applications Choose how Firefox handles the files you download from the web or the applications you use while browsing by choosing the mailto option but no luck accessing Outlook. I would appreciate any help, please.

Thx Phil

At startup, I need Thunderbird to open to the list of messages in the Inbox without user interaction. Every time. Nothing else.

I need it to look like the attached screen capture.

I am running 78.3.1 (32-bit) on Windows 10.

I was using the following process but it quit working on a recent update:

1) Open Thunderbird and click on desired mail folder.

2) Close TB.

3) Use Windows Explorer to navigate to where "session.json" file is located. Mine was, "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\7a4c8p7s.default", but yours will be different. You can locate it by right-clicking on the mail folder from inside TB, then click "Properties". Make sure TB is not running before proceeding to step #4.

4) Right-click on "session.json" file then click, "Properties". Check mark the "Read-only" attribute box then click the "OK" button.

Some years ago I pointed my Firefox cache drive to H:\Firefox. When I updated to 68esr I set the value in the GPO to the same folder. about:config shows the preference as locked.

Recently I decided to move the cache folder to the same drive as the profile folder. So I edited the group policy to point to F:\users\Tanya\Firefox. Updated the group policy and opened firefox. It continued to use H:\Firefox.

So set the policy to not configured and about:config showed h:\firefox. So as a test I set the group policy to iamcountessconsuelabananahammock (Not even a valid path name). No complaints, but firefox continued to write to h:\firefox.

So it seems the only purpose of the group policy is to lock the value, and the content of the GPO is not relevant at all. Is this by design

Hello,

I use Thunderbird for the same e-mail account on two different computers. Previously the tags were synchronised between the two computers. However, on one of the two computers the tags were modified and now they do not merge between the two. Is there anything I can do to restore the tags to their original parameters on the computer where they were previously changed and ensure that they do correctly merge?

Thank you for your help, I hope this makes sense.

I currently have it set to open any external link in a new tab. That works. Trouble is it does not make it active. The active tab does not change when an external link is clicked. It works fine from bookmarks, search, and double click, but not from outlook or any other email. Windows 10 Firefox 81. 10-12-20 Have to make the tab active and I don't want to have to click it.

Second question: Is there a way to change the Search engines to only return results in the pas year. That is for searches like phone help and phone software or windows 10 questions.

I want to remove or set my home screen to something else other than the Firefox default.

I've managed to remove everything from the default home screen, which is a start. But I don't want a home screen at all.

Ideally, Firefox would just resume as it was the previous time it opened. That's how it worked until a recent update.

Attention: Mozilla Support forum members:

The Thunderbird version 68.12.0 (64-bit) e-mail client is working fine under my Debian Linux virtual machine, but Newser.com tag lines are appended to the end of my e-mail messages ( this does not happen with the Thunderbird e-mail client I am using on my host operating system ). How do I disable the Newser.com tag lines? Thank you ( see Colossians 3:15, for example ) for your help. Keep in touch.
