How to turn off visited link colour overwrite?

Hi,

A few months back I turned on the permanent overwrite of the colour - to a custom colour - of visited links under General > Language and Appearance > Colour (I believe). I've since gone back to try and turn off this setting but nothing I seem to do in any arrangement of settings changes it.

As of now, all previously visited links show as purple, even if the website would've previous kept their colour unchanged after clicking. What I want to do is either stop links from changing colour after clicking them, or revert this setting to the Firefox default.

Thanks in advance for any help.

All of the emails that I tried to print went into Preview mode and would never do the printing. I went into Troubleshooting Mode and disabled addons. I'd like to know what addons were disabled, so that I can delete them. Or, it may be that I want to keep them after contacting the owner of the addons. I haven't knowingly added any addons. I wonder how they could get added without my knowing it?

TIA for you help. SweetTasha.

I really do like the new colors and I switch between them often. What is motivating you to remove them starting with Firefox 96? Do I really have to turn off auto update to make sure I have my favorite Colorway enabled before the update?

You've adopted two common phrases and tried to apply them to Colorways:

1 - "limited time only" - This usually means you just have to acquire it during a limited time window; you don't lose it after the time window has passed.

2 - "limited edition" - This usually means a limited number of people can acquire it.

Based on my understanding, neither phrase applies to your Colorways offering.

Would you please reconsider? Mozilla is one of my year-end charitable contributions; does that give me any more clout? :)

For over a year (just over a year on this computer and a few more years on a different computer) I have had a custom theme at the top appearing from the file menu through the address bar. The computers have also always had the New Tab menu being a light colored screen. I turn on the computer today, to find I guess Firefox updated last night? and completely got rid of the lightness of that page to make it dark, leaving me on the verge of a migraine every time I have to look at that thing.

How do I get rid of that dark page, back to the lighter version WITHOUT getting rid of my custom banner at the top? (yes I tried to use the light extension in theme and that gets rid of the banner and leaves me with a horrible white at the top which is just as big of an issue for me as all the black. I really need that like muted Tan back.)

No Firefox add ons, or other "about:config" modifications required. You do get an additional Search box on the Address Bar, but I can deal with/ignore that.

When the latest iteration of Firefox loaded, all my settings for the appearance of Firefox changed. Everything was in dark mode, and the normal color and formatting of web pages were gone. Everything

was black!

I looked through the Settings section but didn't find any "dark/night mode//light/day mode" settings. I tried going through your knowledge base, but I couldn't find anything that helped. Under "General/Language and Appearance/Colors" I made sure it was set to System Colors, changed the Override colors setting from "Only with High Contrast themes" to "Never" and that helped return some websites to their default colors, but other areas such as the Bookmarks sidebar and some websites that never were black before continue to be black (e.g. Twitter).

Any suggestions? [BTW, I don't feel competent enough to manipulate the "about:config" settings without royally screwing things up.]

Current system: Windows 10, latest update (updated this morning); Firefox version 96.0 (also updated this morning, after the Windows update).

I'm running Thunderbird for MacOS.

Until recently, when I double-clicked on an attachment in an email I've received, Thunderbird would open it in the appropriate program (ie, Acrobat for PDFs, or Word for doc files) AND save them into my Downloads folder -- which is what I've specified in my preferences as the destination folder for saving files.

Now, since updating to Thunderbird recently (I'm now running 91.4.1), double-clicking an attachment still opens it in the correct program, but it puts the file in some embedded folder in /private/var/folders... that I can't directly access. These files aren't visible to me in the Finder, so I can't find them later to open them.

Is there any way to change this behavior -- eg, to specify a different folder for storing attachments that you're opening to view? Now it takes me multiple clicks to view an attachment and download it to a place that I can keep it, which is what I want to do the vast majority of the time with an attachment (ie, both view it and keep it). I can't find any preferences that would allow me to specify where a double-clicked attachment should be stored on my machine.

Thanks!

I click on the icon and it takes me straight to the work emails and I have no access to my private email profile. Any help is greatly appreciated

I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu, Linux. Recently, when launching a webapp of mine on localhost (port 4200 for the record, but I don't think that's relevant to the issue), and opening it in Firefox, the browser asks me in what application I want to open the localhost link. I just want to open it as a webpage, but I am forced to type "http://localhost:<port>" rather than just "localhost:<port>". It's not a major problem, but it is inconvenient to have to type "http://" everytime I want to open a local webapp in a browser window. I've looked around in Settings, and I found that "localhost" is listed as a content type under "Applications", but I'm not able to tell Firefox to not open the content in an external app. Is there a way to resolve this?

Hi, since 12 July update, any theme with a darkish colour is now leading to full dark mode on screen, i.e. web page is in dark mode, sidebar is dark mode etc. Whereas pre-update the screen/sidebar were light, which is how I like it.

The only way I can keep light mode now is have a 'bright' i.e. light coloured theme.

This doesn't seem right does it?

How can I keep my old, pre 12 July theme(s), or new ones and still work with light screen?

Thanks

Hi! I have several tabs open at once. In one, I am watching a TV show on Hulu; in another, I have a timer running (I am watching a show while exercising). The problem I am facing is that if I increase my computer's volume loud enough that I can hear the show, then when the timer goes off it is painfully loud. Is there a way to control the volume within Firefox such that the Hulu tab's volume is at, say, 80%, while the timer tab's volume is at, say, 20%? Thanks!

I have this theme installed in my firefox browser (95.0.2). https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/arctic-nord-theme/

When the browser starts, the theme works for a second, then swithes to some darker theme automatically. If I go to Preferences and disable, then enable the theme again, it work as expectet. I have set `layout.css.prefers-color-scheme.content-override` to `1` hoping that it would pin the light theme, but it has no effect on the issue.

How can I make firefox not change to some dark theme on startup?

Hello all, Yesterday I tried to add another website to the rows of shortcuts. As usual I entered the Title, the website url and another url for the custom image location(optional)

However, this time after clicking the Preview button it does display an image, BUT after clicking the Save button it does not display the thumbnail image on the actual tile.

I tried it now with several different websites and NONE are displaying the images. I do have three rows of shortcut tiles with websites that DO display the thumbnail image but those are all from a few weeks back.

Why is this suddenly not working correctly any more??

I tried overriding the colour in chrome.css which works... when I define a random colour like #111111 but it doesn't work when I define the desired #e4e4ea colour. I assume Paint 3D & GIMP are giving the correct hexadecimal colour codes when using their Colour Picker's.

Hello since the update to FF 96 I noticed that the container indicator for the current tab was a few pixel lower than the indicator for other tabs.

Since this was not happening in troubleshoot mode I tried disabling my addons one by one and found that the problem was caused by Firefox Color: any change from the default FF theme (including selecting one of the FF Colors preset themes) moves the container indicator downward.

I also tested this on a new browser profile, installing only Multi-account Containers and FF Color and it looks the same, so this is not caused by other customizations on my browser.

Is this a bug in FF Color? Or something I can solve changing a configuration?
