I just updated to the latest version of Firefox, and all of a sudden I have a new icon, Extensions, that looks like a puzzle piece, I cant seem to be able to remove it....at all.

bold textMay have written too much in the question line. But to repeat I need help installing the details for Thunderbird on my desktop. I messed up some 750 emails coming from my web server and then thinking they were on this desktop I deleted them on the server only to find they were not on my desktop. Other issues have come up including missing folders and missing tasks for the tool bar. Please tell me how to get step by step installation instructions

when there are several hundreds of incoming messages on the folder, it is easy to read/view those messages IF THEY HAVE GRID LINE option(s).. (see example from TB display (w/o Grid line) & Eudora display (w/ Grid line)

If current TB is not available, could the TB software developer to consider this little feature/function for updated versions ??

Firefox has been saving images from some sites as webp instead of JPG for a long time. There have been repeated threads on this subject which get locked and then pushed into the long grass.

Sure, I could botch a solution by installing an add-on to convert them, or I could use something like XnView (which I do, periodically, and in bulk) after the save event has happened, or I can edit about:info to tell Firefox not to accept webp - but this breaks functionality for some sites (like eBay), but I have found that in the end I have had to start switching to Microsoft Edge to do my browsing for a number of sites because Mozilla Firefox are ignoring repeated user requests to provide a simple option to STOP doing this.

I don't want to save any files as webp - save them as PNG if you like, or jpg, but I use an ancient copy (v3.24) of ACDsee (from the days of Windows 98) for my image browsing, sorting, viewing etc because it is perfect, blisteringly quick, has no extra editing or other functionality which I don't need or want, and it doesn't bloat up anywhere with thumbnail files... but sadly webp didn't exist back then so it doesn't support it. I have used a number of much more up to date browser-viewers, but there is nothing can touch this OLD version of ACDsee for basically brilliant design.

I'm not changing my image viewer. It's non-negotiable.

I WILL however change my web browser if I have to, if the developers of the browser continually kick into the long grass to lock, hide away and pretend there's isn't an issue which has been repeatedly flagged as an annoyance for so many users.

I have been using one form or other of 'Mozilla' family of browsers since the days of Quarterdeck Mosaic. I don't particularly want to switch my loyalty, especially to Microsoft, but if they are listening to what customers want and providing it, and Mozilla are not, what else is there to do ?

I am a retired systems developer. I cannot envisage this being SUCH a big ask.

Modern software treats its users like idiots and takes away control, doing everything it's assumes on their behalf that they will want.

It is not difficult to provide an option within settings for when saving webp files to save as webp, png or jpg with conversion if necessary. All you need to do is hear the screams and respond. :)

I hate new firefox 89 looks. I can tolerate buttons. I can even tolerate ugly frameless tabs. But I will not tolerate bookmarks that are twice as fat as before. This is waste of space. Before I was able to see all my bookmarks from bookmark menu on screen. Now they are superfat and I have to scroll constantly in every sub-folder. Am I supposed to buy 4k screen now just because devs decided to make everything big like in touch-screen computers, even for mouse and keyboard users? Why is there no compact view anymore, only normal and superfat touch mode?

Is there any easy way, preference or something to restore old thin look? I googled topic and found some info about css styles but it includes too much of interfering with browser for me to do it. I want easy and permanent solution.

Hello, so I am not very experienced and recently discovered how to customize Fire Fox using the userChrome.css file. I went through all of the steps that are required in order to do this. I set up a folder called chrome in the directory /Users/my name/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/x1oheo82.default-release To test if it works I wrote this into the userChrome.css file: @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* set default namespace to XUL */

and set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true After restarting Fire Fox I saw that nothing changed. I double checked if there was a hidden file extension or if I might be in the wrong directory. I tried different code to see if there was some error in the code but nothing changed. I watched countless tutorials on You Tube and tried to find answers on google but nothing that I did seemed to help. I don't know if it has something to do with the operating system I am running or if it is a limitation of my computer hardware (I am running Fire Fox on an m1 mac).

Greetings, I've checked a few articles in Firefox to help with my question, but none of them are helping. (Here's the main article: http://example.com.) Here's the situation. Say I go to a website's Contact page and click the button to contact someone, a window appears and asks me what app I want to use to open the email. Gmail is my default email, and Firefox is my default browser, and I use Windows 10. When I open the window of options (see attached screenshot) to open the email, and I then click "Choose Other Application" (other than Firefox), I don't see the Gmail app anywhere. I then followed the directions in that link above to check my Windows settings, per its suggestion, which I did ... but in those settings, too, I got to a point where the directions no longer matched what I'm seeing on my screen. I didn't see the Gmail app anywhere. Could you let me know in simple layperson's terms how to open Gmail links in Firefox? I don't have a PhD in computer science, so please keep it very simple. Hello, Just installed thunderbird the other day. Noticed today that I am missing a sent folder for the two accounts. I've spent a couple of hours now trying to figure it out (I am not techie at all). Following through the config options I thought I had it solved when at Message Storage > local directory > browse I'd find the missing piece. However, there is no sent item listed. Below this is Advanced POP settings yet I seem to not have that feature in my settings either. thanks,

Hello, I have been using Firefox as my main browser for more than a decade. One could say i am some Mozilla fanboy, having convinced many of my friends and relatives to use Firefox instead of any chrome based options (Which there are to many these days). It struck me today, as i was reworking some workflow elements in many programs i use daily, that it is impossible to change any key binding in Firefox anymore. I know it has been a while now, and i searched all over the web for an answer or a solution, but at this point it is clear that other than going in the code and recompiling Firefox manually, it is not possible. I stumbled upon the (only) extension that allows to change some shortcuts, but the two that i wanted to change are impossible to configure from it, being disabling only f12 as i would use it for other things but i do not want to lose the dev console and also ctrl+L to open the address bar, it is quite inconvenient and would much prefer to use ctrl+spacebar as it matches many other bindings i am using with other software. There have been many other features that were changed in the recent years that made me start to look for an alternative, as i see features melting away almost as quickly as the user base of the product.

I do understand that one person's problem is not going to change the way a big piece of software is working, but i am wondering, why are the users losing such features as basic as customizing key bindings in a piece of software that used to be so incredibly customizable in the past? Why is the only viable option to anything chrome based losing it's edge over the competition? Is Firefox v150 be based on the chromium engine or will it die before?

In short, to summarize the original issue, one day after clearing my 'recent history' 100% once, gmail.com never ever became autofilled again. I can't get it to show up, no matter what.

I even refreshed firefox, still didn't help, sadly. The only thing left is to uninstall FF but that's a headache I don't want to do. and there's no guarantee that it would work.

Tried disabling all my extensions except for the most obviously fine ones like momentum. Didn't seem to help. <https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1176553> This guy had the EXACT same problem I had. So I followed through these suggestions. Didn't help.

1. Does anyone know what the right keywords for this would be if I want to google others who have similar issues? Looks like I can only just hope other people have the solution. But I've googled things like firefox not suggesting history in omnibox search. Hasn't come up with anything that worked yet.

I just upgraded to Firefox 98.0.1. And there doesn't seem to be an option to add Pocket suggestions to the homepage, as there used to be.

You can add Pocket articles that you've saved, but not suggestions from Pocket.

It used to be under settings - home - recommended by Pocket.

Has this been removed from the options?

After Firefox Update to 100.0, the Theme that I created (JOHN - Light Grey) stopped working properly. More Specific all drop-down and pull-down menus have been transformed to a "white" background color, overcoming the initial created one, which was "dark gray".

So I tried to revise (update) my "Theme". But this became impossible.

In Developer Hub, in Theme Generator there was a (pink) frame warning "the following manifest properties that your most recent version upload used in it's manifest are unsupported in this wizard and will be ignored: properties popup popup_text tab_loading So I couldn't edit the theme and even more I can't finish and save any changes. Well, Is there any skilled user to give me a hand ? I would appreciate too much any piece of advice ...

I used to have this setting whereby I had an icon at the end of the address bar which I could click on to copy whichever link was current at the time. I reinstalled Firefox or something due to a problem I had and I can't seem to find that option anymore. I can't remember if it was an add-on or an option in Firefox itself as standard.

I'm using Firefox 89.0 on a Mac.

Does anybody know how I can get that icon back?

I am currently creating new Images for our touch kiosks and would like to use Firefox.

Sadly I am confronted with some problems / strange behaviour.

I want to set up a windows Kiosk with Firefox as shell application. So far this worked but the Firefox window opens around 5 times at every restart, also it does not open again if it is closed. The reopening is a feature of the eshell which reacts to the exit code of the Application. Is there anything you know what causes these behaviours? Google chrome does nothing of these things and simply gets restarted if it is closed, as it should.

The second thing is, the built in Kiosk mode is great but our Application at least needs tabs. Is it possible without too much of a hassle to create such a locked down experience? I'd like to do it with a policy or settings file and not to create my own browser out of firefox, maybe there's a way I have overseeen.

I'd really like to do it with firefox as I personally always had a great experience and I trust the team behind it. Thank you for your support beforehand!

When connecting a gmail account to Thunderbird, how does one ensure that only certain emails are downloaded to the computer, or one folder, as opposed to all emails?

I have visually-induced vertigo/supermarket syndrome.

I have a hard time aviding accidental scrolling in the new print modals. @#$%^ modals. Because of the accidental scrolling, because they scroll in front of other elements in the same window, and because the modals aren't designed for page down, and because they don't integrate with system-level print options, these don't work for me.

So far I've been using the system print dialogues instead of the Firefox and Thunderbird print modals, but I accidentally updated Thunderbird a few months ago, and lost access to the system print dialogues.

the newest update to version 97.0 was run automatically. Afterwards the new print preview appears although I have it disabeled in about:config (print.tab_modal.enabled --> false). I cannot get rid of it. It is very annoying as I cannot print my labels with that menu and always have to click once more to do so. Does anyone has a fix for this?

Hi folks, I had a problem with this back in June 2021 when my previously black background to the menu bar (bookmarks etc) changed to a washed out grey. Chris Ilias and dbben both replied, and Chris sent me a video guide on how to install Photon Colours, which fixed the problem, thanks. However, today the same problem has re-occurred - ie grey background. Unfortunately, when I checked in the Themes menu I found that Photon Colours is no longer there. Grateful if you could tell me if there is a new fix for this so that I can re-instigate the black background to the toolbar. Many thanks Chris
