Hi I was using TB 142 without problems. When upgrading to 143 ou 144.B4 I have problems sending mails to all users after some times. Usually the first mails are sent immediatly but after around 10 mails, I have very slow response (varies from 5 sec to more than 1 minute and sometimes timeout). Usually quitting TB solves the problem but this is very annoying. I went back to 140LTS and sems to have no longer this problem. This was tested on many diffrent networks. I am running under Fedora release 42

Thanks

There's a well known "window-focus bug" in MacOS 26, where clicking on a window (even the title bar) doesn’t bring that app to the front. It seems like Thunderbird is particularly susceptible to this bug, and I was kind of tolerating it in 26.1. But just today I updated to 26.2, and oddly this has made the problem worse. Is anybody else seeing this and is anybody aware of a fix? Various MacOS discussion groups recommend tweaking MacOS mission control settings, but I don't use mission control at all.

I run Thunderbird 128.12.0esr 64bit on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon.

Ever since I updated to this version 128.12.0esr, T-bird email manager has become almost useless. Constant freezing, constant repopulating at times and of course freezing. Including changing my folder configurations.

Every time I access the calendar it locks up my system. uses 5gb memory and 5% of CPU Freezing & Slowing the system. Often I have to close it to regain control over the rest of my programs.

I have a 32gb RAM, 12th Gen Intel© Core™ i9-12900HK × 14,

Each time open T-bird i am not always able to access one of my 5 email accounts. I have been using T-bird for over 10yrs so I have gone through some up/downs, but nothing like this before.

"It's so bad that I am trying out Evolution to see if I can switch."

I shouldn't ever have any issues with any programs, especially on Linux based on my systems capabilities.

I see a lot of people are having issues with this version and nobody seems to be fixing the problems.

I need some actionable FIXES or to know this issue is being taken seriously before I abandon T-bird and try out something else. I'd like to have a functional T-bird.

Thank you

This version is very slow when opened ... it seaches through for various emails (gmail and Outlook) and snags on something called 'Checking Mail Server Capabilities'. Other issues include a slow copy to the Send folder once an email has been sent. I am not a technical person, been using TBird for many years and until now have really enjoyed its capabilities

Is there a known related issue? Overall the performance is very poor ... I use a series 7 processor and have WiFi speeds in excess of 100 MB.

Thanks Ron

Hello:

My Windows Thunderbird has become unresponsive, taking forever to connect to my various accounts. I suspect the problem is with my GMail account--which is not my primary account--is causing the problem, but I am unable to un-sync GMail's All Mail folder.

I was able to get into troubleshooting mode, but TB was still unresponsive.

I have copied the profile in question to my Linux machine, with TB V140.4.0esr, to try to repair the profile, but the problem is recurring there as well.

Is there a way to manually edit the profile file(s) to remove the GMail account from Thunderbird?

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I am having severe problems downloading and syncing my emails with TB 142.0. I opened TB this morning, for example, and it took more than 20 minutes for it to download my emails. When I go to the next email, it takes a couple of minutes to load it. I have had some issues with slow syncing before, but this is very bad. I note that the emails work fine on my phone. Also, this happens on my main Gmail hosted account, but also on my other Siteground hosted accounts. TB seems to be lost in some kind of loop when syncing.

In both my Inbox and my saved email folders, when I click on an end-to-end encrypted email, Thunderbird (v145) displays "Loading Message..." and then blocks with a spinning blue "working" cursor for on the order of 30-60 seconds. The Thunderbird dialog then appears to make some progress, as the windows seems to "flash" as if it's being cleared, but the email content doesn't appear. After about another 20-30 seconds, the encrypted email contents appear, correctly decrypted.

This long delay only occurs when I click on encrypted email messages, and it happens every time I click on an encrypted email message, and this behavior only started occurring in the past couple of days (correlated, I believe with Thunderbird updating to v145) so I think it's safe to assume the issue is with end-to-end encryption/decryption in Thunderbird v145.

For a few days now, synchronization and opening new messages from a Gmail account configured in Thunderbird have been very slow. I use Thunderbird 140.x, which is regularly updated, and the mailbox has been configured for at least 5 years. Only in the last week has the problem emerged, rendering it unusable. Timeout errors and opening a new message after 2-3 minutes. I've cleared the cache, the database, and re-indexed, but nothing has changed. I've deleted and reconfigured my Gmail account, but nothing has changed. My Gmail mailbox is about 45 GB (I've seen much larger ones without losing performance). I tried installing Thunderbird on a new, clean PC, but the same thing. Extremely slow. Google support hasn't found any issues. Do you have any other suggestions for getting Thunderbird back up and running? Thanks.

Hello,

I have a MacBook Air M2, and I'm experiencing energy usage issues related to Thunderbird. This has kept happening for a long time now actually, surviving through at least two Mac OS updates, and a huge number of TB updates. Everything's up to date. I tried to follow this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1269944 and this: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Memory_Usage_Problems?_gl=1*86dj4d*_ga*MTkzNzQ0MjA3MS4xNzYyOTY4OTMx*_ga_2VC139B3XV*czE3NjMzMTM3NDckbzIkZzAkdDE3NjMzMTM3NDckajYwJGwwJGgw but didn't succeed. Actually, in my case, the issue is more noticeable: I normally have TB open in background - sometimes everything's fine, and the battery goes down as normal, while sometimes instead the battery drops quickly, and checking in the Mac activity monitor I can see that the CPU usage of TB is totally abnormal. When this happens, I can actually see the activity bar in TB being live (bottom right corner, as it happens when TB is checking for new mails), but never disappearing. When I notice it, I just reboot TB, and the bar shuts off as normal after a quick mail check. Moreover, checking the 24hr energy usage by app, TB is often on top with nonsense values.

I tried multiple times to rebuild the database, and do most of the tricks suggested, but didn't fix. Yes I have a huge mail archive, but the problem is not the standard management of this database: basically it seems that every now and then, TB decides to run some activity which it gets stuck in, and this kills the CPU.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I have been using Thunderbird for many years, and it's been a while since I cleaned out my Inbox & Folders. I get about 1200 emails a week, so the clutter is extreme. Yet it is still stable, and now I am waiting to see at what level it falls over. Currently I have 84,544 emails in my Inbox, 131,597 in the Junk Folder,33,718 in Archives, 13,388 in another Inbox, and a whole heap which get deleted when I compact the system.

I reckon compacting it has got rid of another 200,000 or so this year.

I am very impressed, well done guys.
