After updating to firefox 17.0 when I do a scan with Norton 360 it no longer picks up tracking cookies. These cookies that were picked up with firefox 16.0.02 what have you changed? Further I am getting sick of these updates - at least tell us users what has changed in new versions.

Using Firefox 16.0.1 under Windows 7

I want to use wget to script fetching some files, but I need the cookies from my login. wget lets you load from a cookies.txt file, but all I can find is cookies.sqlite, and that does not seem to work.

I am assuming that cookies.sqlite is an "improvement" over the older "cookies.txt" format ... but is there any way to export cookies to the old format (or just tell Firefox to use the old format)?

It used to be in the previous version 16.0.2, that I'm now thinking of

going back to, that -:

Tools, options, exception was a place that I could list all the cookies

that I never wanted to see. I could find the cookies that I did not want

by opening "cookies" and by hand putting unwanted cookies sources into

"exceptions" and blocking them.

As a result I would, by default, allow only unblocked cookies for valid

sites to be on my system. I had a list about 200 sites long of unwanted

blocked cookies sources.

Then in 17.0.1 - bingo my exceptions list went bye bye and I was finding

valid userids appear on pages that I opened where I had not asked

17.0.1 to retain either password or userid.

Then I found (in 17.0.1) that even if I ticked the box to remove the cookies (aquired by the lack of being able to block then) when I closed 17.0.1 that the tick was cancelled by 17.0.1 and the cookies stayed.

What I want to have happen is a) have no history b) accept cookies c) create exceptions and block cookes with that "exception" list and not have that exception list deleted when I close 17.0.1 d) accept 3rd party cookises and keep them until I close 17.0.1 e) clear history but NOT the exceptions list that I spent time creating (and I don't know where they were/are stored).

What I see is no way to delete the cookies when I quit 17.0.1 because, if I tick the cookie box in "Settings" 17.0.1 clears the cookie tick when I close 17.0.1

Thanks

ffox 17 Win XP When i use the mouse wheel to scroll i want vertical scroll only. But it pops up a circle icon and won't scroll anywhere, or tries to go sideways and skids all over the place.

I would like to prevent the mousewheel from doing any horizontal scroll (and to never see that circle icon again). Is it possible?

p.s. I've seen the page "Gecko:Mouse Wheel Scrolling - MozillaWiki" and while it's very thorough, it's really written by/for developers, I just want a simple config entry fix ... please?

On the Privacy tab in Options the check box for Accept cookies from sites is unchecked. I pressed the Exceptions button and added many websites to accept cookies from and clicked Allow for Session on each one. Sometimes I go to a website where I have to sign in with a username and password and the site states that my browser is refusing to accept cookies even though I had added the site to the exception list. When I check the exception list, the status of the exception has changed from Allow for Session to Blocked. I have found several exceptions change on their own from allow to blocked and some even have changed again after I changed them back. What could be causing the exceptions to change and is there some way to make the settings persistent?

I have Firefox set to delete cookies when closed. After I close Firefox, I usually run CC Cleaner. In the Analysis, CC Cleaner shows 307 cookies using a total of 0 space.

In XP, I went to Options, Privacy, and Show Cookies. There are probably 307 shown. When I click to Remove All Cookies nothing happens. When I highlight one cookie and click to Remove, nothing happens. When I open the particular cookie folder and see the cookie, highlight it and click Remove, that cookie seems to disappear for an instant, but when I click on the next one, the first one returns.

I want ALL evidences of all these cookies OFF my computer.

How do I accomplish that?

I pretty much know how to configure Firefox to "accept" or "reject" cookies. Am also aware that one can address the issue of 3rd party cookies.

I am not sure, however, if it is possible to have Firefox reject all First-Party cookies that are not "session" cookies.

In other words I don't want to accept any Third Party Cookies, and I don't want to accept any First Party cookies--unless they are "Session Only".

Can this be done?

Am using Firefox 18.0.1 and Windows 7

This is not the ff remember passwords. It is the website provided login with the remember me checkbox. It has worked in the past (pre win8 and earlier versions of ff....definitely not since win8, but cannot tie directly to ff18) except when I ran ccleaner which would somehow remove the 'cookie".

I have played with all the FF options I can relate to the problem without success.

The FF remember me works, but I have to type in the user name before it will enter the password.

This also happens in FF 18 - cookies that are supposed to be retained are not.

I tried the SQLite Database Browser tool, but found no questionable entries like the ones outlined above.

I tried deleting site preferences - no change. Tried deleting permission.sqlite. Still no change.

What this is showing up in is my online banking. It asks you to register the computer, and supposedly puts a "secure cookie" in the browser. This no longer works - everytime I have to go through the process of asking for a new code via email. This works fine in IE, and used to in Firefox. What is odder is that if I ask it to show cookies, it shows it with an expiration of Jan. 2100. But it does not seem to be accessble to FF anymore, while it used to be. Any other ideas?

It does seem more likely to log me out of these sites when I have watched a Flash video. Help please?
