got a new PC, trying to add my email accounts to thunderbird. everything is working except for my hotmail account. I have tried reinstalling, changing settings etc. I removed my account from thunderbird on the old PC tried adding it to the new pc and I just keep getting this error "Exchange auth error" I cannot change the 02uthentic type as i cant add the outlook account. I have no problems adding it back to the thunderbird on the old pc. I have changed my password 4 times thinking it was the problem but nothing. this is what i get everytime.

I have signed into the web and made sure the "imap is on to allow other apps, programs etc" still get nothing. I downloaded the thunderbird app to my phone to try and i have no problem adding my hotmail account. it's only on this new pc with thunderbird, both tunderbirds are the same build# 140.2.0 on both new and old pc.

any help would be awesome, thank you

A search showed that others have experienced this same error message, but as far as I can tell, they all were unable to access their email. These messages began appearing about a month ago. They pop up in Troubleshooting Mode. They did not in Windows Safe Mode. AVG and ZoneAlarm are not the culprits.

I have been using Thunderbird for a few months and changed my Google Password(even though Im not quite sure if the error wasnt already occuring before that), but now when I go on Thunderbird it gives me a popup window that says "Enter credentials for name@gmail.com on imap.gmail.com". Theres a field for the email-adress, but when I click "Next" theres the following error: "400. That’s an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know."

These are the things I tried: Entering the old or new Password. Checked if the config is set to OAuth2 in both incoming and outgoing servers and enabled on Gmail-Account. Deleted and tried to (unsuccessfully) reregister my Thunderbird-Account. The same error pops up when it checks my password after the configuration.

I dont know if the password change is actually the cause, since I think I remember the error message appearing earlier today, before I changed the password, but Im not sure. Also, I have another account linked to my Thunderbird, with no changed credentials, and while there is no similar error message, thunderbird suddenly also has problems connecting to it and asks to retry a few times (3-4) before actually connecting everytime I open it.

Hello, I have a problem with Thunderbird that I don't understand and can't solve. Thunderbird can't connect to my IMAP account on the remote server perfectly even after a clean install. Incoming emails are downloaded, but only 82 out of 5600 outgoing emails. All login details are correct, I tried STARTTLS settings on the correct ports, but there is no change. I see in the Activity Manager that the connection between the server and the client is lost several times a minute. There is no network error, both I and the internet service provider have checked the connection. The client is running the Win11 operating system.

I suddenly this week cannot send email using Thunderbird (v. 140.4.0esr (64-bit)). I receive email fine. I can send email using webmail with my provider. Error message in Thunderbird is: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: resomta-h2p-555359.sys.comcast.net resomta-h2p-555359.sys.comcast.net ESMTP server not available (62240/216.183.125.238)." My provider says the issue is not at their end because my server settings are correct. Outgoing SMTP port is 465, connection security SSL/TLS. Operating Windows 11 v. 24H2.

Yesterday, my ameritech.net email stopped working in Thunderbird. I get an error saying it's unable to log into the server. The email account works from outlook, and from a web browser, so I know I'm using the right password. I've tried it on more than one computer and it's only Thunderbird that is having the problem. It's working with my gmail account. Any help would be appreciated.

I use TB with Gmail accounts on a PC without problems. Recently acquired a Chromebook and installed Linux version of TB. TB finds my existing Gmail IMAP configuration, but is unable to connect to the server. I'm entering my Gmail email address and the password saved in TB password manager on my PC. FYI, I am visually impaired (20/400) and it's difficult to research the issue, so any help or leads to a solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am using Thunderbird with an IMAP account. My quota for my inbox, as indicated in the lower right, is 98%. If I log in to my provider's webmail the quota stated is 2%. How do I fix this mismatch?

I have relatively few emails in my Inbox, Sent, Trash, Draft etc folders. Deleted folder has been emptied. Folders have been compacted a number of times. Thunderbird has been closed and reopened. I have checked with my provider, names.co.uk, and they confirm that my current usage is 2%. They pin the blame on Thunderbird.

I have searched online and whilst this does appear to be a fairly common problem, I have not found a solution.

I have tried moving all but the few latest emails to Local Folder, going through the usual deletion, empty deleted, compact folders, restart etc. and can only lower the percentage a small amount in Thunderbird, and it soon rises again to 98%. And it's very inconvenient not to have recent emails still in my Inbox.

Can anybody help with a solution, please?

When I open the Thunderbird desktop app we receive this popup error message:

"Unable to establish TLS connection to POP3 server. The server may be down or may be incorrectly configured. Please verify the correct configuration in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window and try again."

I have not found any configuration under the account settings to help with this, but if anyone has any suggestions to walk me through this to establish a connection again that would be most appreciated.

Additionally, when I try to send an email I receive the message: "Login to server smtp.cybermesa.com with username centinela failed."

After closing the error message box I received another error message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.cybermesa.com timed out. Try again."

Is our issue then with Cybermesa and not Thunderbird? Or Is something wrong with Thunderbird due to our initial error message we received? Any suggestions is much appreciated.

Hello,

My father has a random issue with one of his email accounts. Context: Windows 11, TB 146.0.1. In TB, 5 mail accounts are configured, all IMAP, on 4 different providers.

All accounts work perfectly except the first one, which is also the default account. This account and the second account are both on my father's Internet provider. The configurations of both accounts seem identical (I checked more than once), except obviously for the name and password. On the first account (which is unfortunately the one my father uses most), connexion is often refused, and TB then asks to retry or enter a new password. Retry and reentering the password fail to solve the issue. When the connection to the first account fails, the second account (for the same provider) always works. Some time later (usually at least several days later), the first account will work again, without any obvious reason.

I tried exiting TB as well as clearing the cache, rebooting the computer, scanning for viruses, with no result.

I'd rather avoid re-creating the account in TB as this would change the order of the accounts, and my father (94 years old) might have difficulties to adapt to the change, but is someone can tell me how to recreate the account without changing the order, I am ready to try it.

I have a log of what happens when using only the "bad" account, and one for the good account from the same provider, but I don't know how to share them here. While creating the logs, I checked that if I set the second account as default (the first account having the issue before as well as after this), it still manages to connect. But of course, maybe the second account would have also had a connection issue later...

Does someone have any explanation, or ideas about how to solve this issue?

I've been using Thunderbird on a Windows machine for years. I now have an iMac and recently downloaded Thunderbird to start transitioning over. When I try to set up an existing Email address, the configuration is found in the Mozilla ISP database. After I enter the password though (mobile.charter.net), I get an error stating "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". The password is correct and works on the Thunderbird version on the Windows machine. I have multiple Email addresses and I get the same error on all with verified correct passwords. Any help to correctly install would be greatly appreciated!
