When I create a new calendar event, I would like them always to be Private, as a default. I would also like to suppress the requirement that the recipient respond.

Can either/both be accomplished with either an advanced configuration setting or with an add-on? I've searched add-ons, found none that accomplish either.

Thanks

I'm a long time TB user on MacOS and make monthly contributions to support it. In its current incarnation, however, it seems unusable to me.

ics files do not appear as attachments, neither do they appear in the message body. I used to use receive ics files as attachments. More recently they appeared in the message body. Now they don't appear at all. This makes it impossible to update my calendar, manually or otherwise.

The ics file is there. I can see it in ios mail. Here's a snippet from the source from within TB:

--_002_CO3PR03MB675912291E94D263E68E6D44C284ACO3PR03MB6759namp_ Content-Type: text/calendar; charset="utf-8"; method=REQUEST Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

I'm using TB 115.5.1 on MacOS 14.1.2

Thanks for guidance. -PB

I have been syncing google calendar with Thunderbird calendar for years. No extension used (not needed). Now on v 115.51; I find I cannot enable any of my google calendars. Click enable, or select enebale from properties, and it reverts to not enabled mode immediately.

Here is what I tried. I unsubscribed to calendars and tried to subscribe back. I get an error "The credentials you entered were not accepted please check your settings". I logged into the account on a browser, same credentials, no problem. I tried "gmail.com" and "calendars.google.com" for address, no difference.

I cannot tell whether this is a result of the upgrade, the problem could have occurred later/earlier.

Thunderbird Calendar - can't 'write' to Exchange: locally created events disappear

Hey all,

I'm running Tbird 115.5.1 (just updated), and have been running across an issue. It may have been there for a long time, but I may have only recently noticed... mostly because the Calendar functionality with Exchange has been so sketchy that I just use the Exchange web page to read/edit my calendar...  :(

Specifically here: If I create an Event in Tbird, it gets erased/last/deleted at the next sync. The event never gets created/written to the Exchange server.

Steps: 1) Create Event in an Exchange calendar, in Thunderbird 2) Sync (manual or automatic) calendar to the Exchange account/server Result: Event disappears, does not show up on the web-page version of Exchange either

Calendar in Tbird is NOT set up to be Read Only.

I have tried this in 'Troubleshooting' Mode - same results.

Events created in the Exchange webpage interface are fine - they get downloaded into Tbird.

Thunderbird: 115.5.1 MacOS: 13.6

Any tips on where to look for additional clues?

I have Thunderbird version 115.5.1 installed on my Windows 11 laptop. I have logged into my gmail account and subscribed to google calendar. I have turned the off default reminders for events and don't have any extensions installed, but when I create a new event and select "No Reminder," Thunderbird automatically sets a 30-minute reminder. I can modify the reminder by editing the event after saving, but I can't directly create a new event with no reminder.

One user's Thunderbird profile was acting strangely with settings reverting back to previous values, so I decided to build a new profile. I backed up their address book and calendar files to .ics files, then uninstalled Thunderbird, removed all registry entries, rebooted, installed a fresh copy of Thunderbird, imported address books then tried to import the calendar .ics file and each time I try to import the .ics file in the import screen a red bar appears as an error saying no importable items found in this file. I re-installed the same version of Thunderbird that was installed 102.15.1. This did not involve 115 at all.

I tried two different times with this user's calendars and it produces the same result. I tried exporting the calendars as .html files, but there's no option in the import wizard to choose that file format.

I also tried going to the user's old profile folder and into calendar-data and copying all of the files from there and copying them into the new profile folder, then re-launching Thunderbird but that also didn't work, nothing imported and the home calendar is blank.

I found one forum post suggesting importing the calendar .ics file into a google calendar then exporting it back down as a .ics then importing it to Thunderbird, but this user is not comfortable with that.

Does anyone else have a solution?
