Any way not have a history or automatically prune the history on Android? Without deleting all other data?

What I want is: 1. History should either not be saved, or alternatively auto-deleted after a certain time (e.g. only keep history of the past hour), or as a last resort get deleted when closing the browser. 2. I want to keep the ability to restore recently closed tabs. I realize this is a bit in conflict to not having a history, but just remembering the last few closed tabs would be enough, or all tabs closed in the last few minutes. 3. When I restart the browser (after pressing "Quit"), I want it to restore my previously open tabs 4. When I restart the browser (after pressing "Quit"), I want to keep cookies and logins (i.e. not get logged out everywhere, and have the cookie dialogues after restarting the browser). 5. Not super important, but ideally I want to keep my saved favicons/website logos in the bookmarks and on the new tab page after a restart.

So basically I just want to way for the history to be empty or automatically pruned, without sanitizing any other data on exit or browsing in a kind of permanent private mode.

I haven't yet found the correct configuration to do this. If there is an extension or about:config option for doing this, please also let me know (I'm happy to switch to Firefox Beta or Fennec F-Droid which have full extension support and expose about:config functionality.)

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Taken the following quote from your FAQ regarding Firefox Android:

"Delete a specific webpage from your browsing history"

This quite simply does not work. I am trying to delete a webpage, but it still shows up on "Firefox suggests" when typing similar words in search bar in browser.

Additional info just in case:

  • No, not confusing this with my google search history.
  • No, I am not syncing the history back in the android browser.

Any suggestions?

Tldr: it would be much more usable to have the back button return to History search results, and also to be able to right click those results to open in a new tab.

When using the history feature, most of the time I am looking for something but I have done a bunch of looking for that thing and so my history is kind of polluted with false results.

These results might be a month back. If I'm trying to go through those false results, I need to open more than one. The history search feature, though, doesn't persist beyond a single click, and does not have the opening new tab function. So, if I am to go through those results, I have to keep redoing the same history search.

cleared browser history and cookies, history is empty but when i search in it is shows some websites that persist https://imgur.com/a/H8nBmEk and the website shows in autocomplete search suggestions (I know I can technically disable history suggestions in settings but I want them, they are useful)obviously what I showed in the video is pretty much not harmful but I also have this problem with an adult site which can be annoying when someone uses your phone to search stuff. so, any way to fix that problem? currently checked that on 166.0a1 nightly, also latest beta probably also a problem in regular Firefox
