I currently have Thunderbird(TB) using POP with a hosted email provider(HEP) with my own DNS. I am going to transfer to a different HEP where I am told I can keep my current mail address/name . Is it possible for me to continue using my current folders after I transfer? My searches have come up with various responses for an IMAP setup but I haven't been able to find anything for my POP setup. Could someone help me with this please?

I am running 4 email addresses (3 hotmail.com and 1 live.com) on TB 102.15.1 (64 bit) - Windows 10. About a month ago I upgraded TB was unable to send anything no matter what Server settings I used - tried every combination - so I downgraded back to Version 102 and everything went back to normal. About a week ago, one of my hotmail accounts started giving me a "fail to log in" message. The other accounts work fine. The "fail to log in" will go from 2 or 3 times to 15 to 20 times in about an hour or so but every time, sooner or later will work and then it will be fine for a few hours and then start again. I have had these accounts running on TB for well over 10 years with no problem and I have not changed anything in the Server settings or anywhere else. The account I am having the issue with has been running on TB since TB started with no problems until now. I assume that TB may be having some issues with the Outlook platform but I have not changed anything there either and I have no problem logging into hotmail.com directly. I have spent many hours combing the internet for hints to no avail - everything I have tried has either had no effect or screwed things up so I had to back track to where I started. Any ideas???

Dear Mozilla Support, [please forgive my poor English - FRENCH is my mother tongue]

CONTEXT - I use a Linux (Peppermint) Live DVD to surf the Web, always on the same laptop. I do NOT use any hard disk inside that laptop, just the Live DVD spinned by a DVD player. Only the RAM stores data => fresh new distro for every session - years ago, I created a Firefox account, and the Sync worked perfectly, and allowed me to back up my Bookmarks AND my Opened Tabs (they are stored in Mozzila's cloud, and after each sign in and a sync, they reappear in the left panel). Regarding the Synced Tabs, the left panel used to store all the previous Live DVD sessions (generally with the device's name: peppermint's Linux... (IIRC). - i do NOT use several devices, and do NOT wish to sync date acreoss them. I use Sync to get my Bookmarks and Opened Tabs synced across successive Firefox sessions, day after day. I worked perfectly well.

PROBLEM Since a few weeks, I noted that despite login and sync, on the left panel - Synced Tabs are now empty: no tabs synced at all => so I cannot seamlessly find back my opened tabs from one session to another (if I switch off my laptop, then later restart a new Live DVD session) - see screenshot = https://imgur.com/LO6jWLYl.png - Bookmarks are nevertheless still perfectly synced (see screenshot = https://i.imgur.com/Td0nbY2.png)

Many thanks for you help. Kind regards from Europe.

Hello Mozilla Thunderbird forum, I have a Thunderbird latest release installation that fetches mails in 2 different ways with the same imap.orange.fr server and settings. The 1st account works as pop protocol: that means that messages are loaded locally, deleted from the server ; and no mail subfolders are present in the Thunderbird interface. The 2nd account synchronizes the mails and all remote subfolders in the local interface. To me, the 1st account is working weirdly. But I can't understand the reason of that. Have you some idea about that? with the best regards, Bernard (from France, sorry for the bad language ;-))

Hiya

I have 2 out of 5 mail accounts were the trash-folders are less than 30 Mb according to Thunderbird - [right mouse click] on the folders & pick [properties]

BUT on the disk inside the [ImapMail] folder I have files named [Trash] that for the 2 accounts have a combined total size of 600 Mb ! :(

And YES !!! I let Thunderbird compact per auto ALL the time (when it will save = 10 Mb in total)

So either; - I've COMPLETELY misunderstood 'something' - or there's something to look into for Mozilla ? :)

THANKS in advance for your time, help & reply ! :) Best Regards Peter Valentin

Hello,

I have a platform where architects can download digital content in the file formats of dwg (autocad) and ai (adobe illustrator). The site is old and has been working for many years.

Today I received an email from a user that had issues downloading the ai files. I went on to the site an investigated. I am also unable to download the ai files. The dwgs are working as expected.

The ai files are converted to pdf and open in the browser in some web preview. If I then download the file from there it is still, when downloaded to my machine, a pdf. This is not the behavior from before. This is a change in Firefox.

How, when, and why is this change implemented? It seems like a pretty radical change, to coerce one file format to another without any option to get the source file for the user.

Any help is appreciated.

We have an intranet site behind an Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) - after updating the SSL certificate, the website will no longer allow Firefox clients to log in.

They will be prompted to sign in (with a default sign in prompt, not even the website login prompt), even if you enter the correct user/password it will continue to prompt you. The new cert works with Edge, Safari, and Chrome - I've enabled the following settings in about:Config network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris, network.negotiate-auth.delegation-uris, network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris, and set signon.autologin.proxy to be true - but the issue still persists.

Has anyone seen this/been able to figure this out? I've seen a few other posts, but no resolutions. Does Firefox not support Certificate Signature Algorithm SHA-384 With RSA Encryption? This is the only difference I can see between the 2 certificates; the original is SHA-256 With RSA Encryption.

Thank you!

So I was forced to migrate from Eudora to Thunderbird and lost half my emails in the process (10 years worth). It's all corrupted when I open them. Okay, learned to live with it.

Then recently I had to change drive number on some of my hard disks. When I rebooted Thunderbird was empty as if I just had installed it.

I know one way to solve it is to go through the pain of re-configuring everything from scratch and locate the old mail folders, and tweak the program as I want it, etc.

But... is it not possible to edit the registry by only changing the drive letter so that it becomes exactly like before?

OR:

Without messing with the registry, is there somewhere I can change the location of where it reads the data to know the configurations, mail setting, mail folders, etc, so that it becomes like before?

I use Windows 7 by the way (yes I know, but I'm tweaking and maintaining it with stuff like Optach, it works like a charm).

I'm getting desperate as there's important emails pending, so I defer to the online oracle!

During a client Audit earlier this week we were dinged on not having the option in Firefox ESR to block manually saving Addresses and Credit Cards. We have the autofill disabled however users can still manually add credit cards and addresses and this poses an issue with our call center agents handling Credit Card info. I'd like to be able to gray out the Saved Addresses and Saved Credit Card boxes so as to prevent agents from manually entering card data into it using a GPO or Registry setting that we can push and apply to all our domain PCs. Ideally, if we could add an entry to the JSON preferences in the Mozilla GPO that would gray those options out that'd be best but any option that removes the users ability to add CC info would be acceptable.

3 months ago I was on version 115.3.1 and asked a question about the safety of 115 updates. I received the following answer from sfhowes: If you're already on 115, you shouldn't have any issues with further updates to the 115 branch, as some, but not all, problems are fixed with each 115 release. The time to hesitate is when the annual major release is offered around June/July. Wait a few months for the major bugs to be fixed, or run two versions side-by-side.

I continued to update to further 115 releases but, because of the many apparent user issues, I stopped updating at version 115.5.1. The latest release is now 115.8.0. Can anyone guarantee 'no issues' if I now permit this release to be installed ... I have no problems using 115.5.1 but perhaps this is now a security risk?

jscher2000 i think you are correct. The blue link in the PDF file is not a web link but a link to the specific attachment. It appears browsers are currently unable (not programmed) to access attachments directly. I tried in MS Edge with the same result. After contacting MS Support, MS stated that they are aware of the issue and that they are working to fix it in a future release of Edge.

Attachments can be accesses in Adobe Acrobat as you described, but it would be good to be able to access them directly from Firefox instead of having to save them and then using Acrobat.

Is it possible to see them and maybe edit them to reduce the impact on my system?

Hello,

I am setting up PGP in Thunderbird. Sometimes I want to send an email which is signed but not encrypted. However, before I send this to someone else I want to make sure that it works. So I sent an email to myself (2 different accounts which I both control and have added to Thunderbird). The email has the signature attached but the Thunderbird UX doesn't give me any information about whether or not it successfully verified the signature. I tried downloading the `.eml` file and checking the signature against that, but it failed (I'm assuming that I tried to verify the wrong thing, not that the signature is actually bad).

Any help would be appreciated.

WED 21FEB24 The urgent issue is that in the last few weeks, many web pages do not load content, just a grey or white screen. Some will load the header. I am the Executor for someone's estate, and I am having this trouble with some financial websites that I must access to do the job.

Its been many years since I upgraded anything. It might be that Macintosh Firefox 78.15.0 esr (64 bit) and Thunderbird 60.9.1 are the newest revs that work with OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan. I have a 2011 MacBookPro.

I don't like the changes in the user interface that Apple put into OSX after El Capitan. But I may be forced to upgrade. Too late in life to learn Linux.

Maybe the minimalist solution is to upgrade Firefox. But that may require upgrading OSX, and Apple has made it really hard to do that unless you go to the very newest. OTOH I don't know if the newer OSX will run on my 2011 MacBook Pro. If I clicked on "software update" in About This Mac, what would happen? would it just start doing it, or tell me about it first?

The last time I upgraded something, probably Thunderbird but maybe it was Firefox, I had to learn a complicated process to copy & save the User Profiles (they are in a hidden directory), and then install them into the new rev. I don't want to go through that again. I just want to run the dmg file.

There used to be a Mozilla web page with all the versions & you could download the dmg file you wanted.

If I still have problems, I would have to buy a much newer computer. A several year old MacBookPro. But I don't like the "new" disk formatting method Apple created. It saves space by not actually making copies of files, but uses a pointer to one copy. So there is a single point of failure, which makes copies pointless. I want to keep using OSX Extended (Journaled) and I would have to have the seller of the computer do that for me, before I used Migration Assistant to put my stuff on it. I also hate the welded-on hard drive; being able to pull the drive is the best "broken hardware" solution.

I don't recall if El Capitan has the "OSX Recovery" system or if that happened in a later rev.

I use SuperDuper to make a clone of my hard drive as a backup & archive. I wonder if I could connect a copy on an external drive and then startup using the external copy. Then I could upgrade Firefox and see if it works, then do the same for OSX if necessary, and Thunderbird.

Suggestions & how-to info needed. TIA

After an update yesterday, I found out the password manager integrated in Firefox was completely empty. I tried to rename logins.json.corrupt into logins.json, I tried deactivating all the plugins and I also tried copying the file into a new Firefox profile but it got corrupted right away again.
