I just installed Firefox (88.0) on a brand new Surface Pro, signed in to my Firefox Account, which gets me my stuff synced over, such as the Grammarly, LastPass and Pushbullet extensions. I log into those respective applications as needed. I start browsing.

Now, when I open either of those extensions from the menu bar, they open their little in-place window. If I now touch anything in these windows, about 80% of the time the following happens:

  • The little in-place window closes
  • Firefox becomes unresponsive (menus, other controls, web pages, close window)
  • This lasts for 60 seconds (reliably)

However:

  • If the extension is visible on the menu bar: problem happens
  • If the extension is tucked away in ">>" (More tools...): no problem (this is also a decent-ish workaround)

Given that this affects multiple extensions, I'd expect this to be a Firefox issue. Also, I have no idea how to troubleshoot this (I have not been able to find logs).

Things I tried to no avail:

  • Refresh (through installer)
  • Cleaned out profile manually
  • Tried extensions before logging them in

Thank you for your help.

Per title and attached image.

Why do I no longer have the option to view image in the same tab any more? I should not need a browser extension to have brought it back. This new feature is, frankly, rather annoying and I would like to have the option to have it back. Please don't tell me to modify userChrome.css because that doesn't seem to do anything anymore. I have tried on numerous occasions to use it to get rid of the obnoxious Email Image by following markup examples given on numerous forums, so I don't trust it to bring back a feature unjustly stripped from me.

Or, failing that, tell me how to get that context to open in the background. I have that option set for links, and am rather unhappy that it is ignored on this new image context and bookmarks to a lesser extent.

It has been a day since updating to this new version, and I hate it already.

Good Day. Connection to the official French Tax website https://cfspart.impots.gouv.fr (French IRS-equivalent) is not authorized on my browser (Firefox 78.10.0esr / MacBookPro OSX 10.11.6) although this browser version is said to be supported by the governmental Tax website.

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue. Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust cfspart.impots.gouv.fr because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

Can anyone help on this one ? Thanks a lot in advance best

In my old Backup-Files I found some Mail-Files which I would like to import to Thunderbird (Local-Folder to not messup with current email-account). Some files works fine. But other are "empty" when I look at them in Thunderbird.

1. I just put the files into a new created folder (AppData/Local/Thunderbird/NewFolder

After starting Thunderbird .msf-files were automatically created, but some are still only 2 - 3 KB in size and are empty when accessing the folder within Thunderbird.

2. I already tried the import via Import-Export-Tool NG but with the same result.

The MBOX files looks good (when I open it via notepad), I seems to be pure ASCII My 5 mising MBOX-Files are 25 MB, 40 MB, 357 MB, 749 MB and 771 MB in size, so they are definetly not empty.

Thank you for help

I'm developing an add-on for Firefox which will take the colors from the favicon of the current tab to color bits of the tab-bar dynamically.

I'm having trouble finding out how I can modify browser CSS, for example in the Browser Tool box console, this works perfectly fine: ```const activeTab = document.querySelector('.tabbrowser-tab[selected="true"] .tab-background'); activeTab.style.background = "rgb(0, 221, 255)";```

but when inputting this same code in my add-on, it cannot query that same selector (I've given it tabs and theme permissions). This also does not work as a stylesheet.

Can anyone point me to what I need to access the browser UI DOM?

My Firefox Developer Edition crashed. The menu disappeared all of a sudden and I can't get to any websites now. I tried removing everything FF related on my Macbook Pro and then downloading again and it still looks like the screen shot included here. Nothing going on at the top anymore and it looks like it's 'applying update' but this never ends.

Any ideas what might be the cause of this? And what I can try to fix it?

This seemed to all happen at the same time I was working on a GoDaddy managed WordPress website - while pushing my staging site to the production site. GoDaddy said their system software was being updated but that shouldn't affect a browser.

Thank you for any info you can give!

It looks to me like Thunderbird has a bug when you want to send plain text email that on sending and receipt flows itself to the width of the window.

To send flowed text that flows on the sending site, you set (in the config editor):

mailnews.wrap_long_lines=true (don't mess with my outgoing emails; just let them go as long as they need) mailnews.wraplength=0 (don't have a specific line length; just wrap to the window length) plain_text_wrap_long_lines=true (wrapping is great, particularly in the client) mailnews.send_plaintext_flowed=true (regardless of what I send, the recipient should be able to rewrap it so it flows comfortably in their screen) mailnews.display.disable_format_flowed_support=false (don't disable flowed text; I like flowed text).

On sending this works great; it flows to the border of the window and wraps, reflowing as you change text without needing to hit ctrl-r or anything (since all the wrapping is virtual).

However, when you send this way, your email will be sent as one long line, and on receipt, thunderbird will display it as one long line, not reflowing it at all.

On the other hand, if you tweak this by changing one line:

mailnews.wraplength=78 (or whatever, pick a length)

Then while composing it will stick stubbornly to 78 lines (or whatever). However, on reciept, because of format=flowed, it will reflow your message to your window size and look great.

Obviously this is a bug. By documentation, mailnews.wraplength=-1 should disable flowing at all; length=0 should send whatever it sends but reflow on client side, which it doesn't -- at least in thunderbird.

Is there a workaround (also, is this a live bug?)

This is from thunderbird 78.9.1 (32 bit).

When I open a first Firefox instance from taskbar in Windows 10, if I do a Google search then right click on any of the results, then select "Open Link in New Tab", FF lalways opens that link in a new window, not a new tab as requested. The new window takes up the right hand half of my display which means I have to manually size it larger or maximize it. This behavior continues as long as I use the first FF window to open any links - they never open in a tab of the original window and only create lots of windows - this is very hard to deal with IMHO. Now here's the weird part - If I use one of the new windows, then FF behaves just as it should. Do a Google search and all links can be opened in new tabs in the new window, as requested. I did not notice this strange behavior until about April 10 when I believe I accepted a new update to FF.

Hi Team

We have a problem with printouts, i.e. when we have a generated printout and it is opened by the built-in pdf viewer in ff, then after clicking print, the spooler becomes clogged and the pdf file weighs almost 100 Mb. There are no such problems when opening the file with the installed Acrobar Reader DC application. A request for information on what may be the cause of this condition. I would like to add that this is the VDA VMware Horizon version 7.10. The Mozilla Firefox browser in the picture is 78.0.2 esr 64 bit.

For years I've been right clicking on memes and GIFs, selecting "copy image location," and pasting it in a forum on a website. I know there are other ways of accomplishing this but losing the ease factor of "copy image location" is AWFUL. In retrospect, the simplicity of it was breathtaking. Does anyone know the possibility of its return in an update?
