Hello,

Since upgrading to 78.6.1 yesterday, my TASKS list that displays alongside my Calendar is listing all my tasks going back to when they were first created. I have gone through all of them 3 times now, ticking all the boxes to clear them off the Task list but when I restart Thunderbird they are all showing in the Tasks list again. I've tried double-clicking on an entry and then 'Edit All Occurrences', made changes and then saved again, but they all just keep reappearing in the Tasks List as if they haven't been completed??

I was running Thunderbird 78.6.0 (Windows 10) without any issues. Performed the automatic upgrade to 78.6.1 - after restart all my recurring tasks (from as far back as 2013) have been marked "not completed".

Is this a known issue? How do I resolve?

BTW - I reverted back to 78.6.0 and the symptoms went away. However, after auto-update to 78.6.1 again, the issue reappeared, and is now present even when regressing back to 78.6.0.

Hi, I have been using Thunderbird for about a year with 20 outlook.com accounts and a couple of others. Today it stopped being able to send and receive from 3 of the outlook.com accounts with the message 'Mail server responded: Logon failure: unknown user name or password.'

The username and password work fine in webmail and on my phone so the message can't be literally true. The other 17 outlook.com accounts work fine in Thunderbird so it can't be a server setting change at the outlook.com end nor any general issue in Thunderbird. I've removed and recreated the passwords in Thunderbird so it can't be corruption of the password table. I have Thunderbird on 2 computers, exactly the same setup, no problems until today, same issue on both machines today with the same 3 accounts, so it can't be any other corruption at the Thunderbird client end.

So now I'm stuck - the above seem to eliminate everything :-(.

Does anyone have any kind suggestions please?

Thanks and kind regards.

Hi, Since yesterday I have a very annoying problem. Even if I have my cursor focused on one of my folders (e.g.: Inbox), my email list is dissapearing suddenly. Happens very often, every 5-10mins or so.

To "recover" it I have to click on other folder(e.g. Sent) and then click again on the previous one. This happens to all folders, without exception.

I am using Thunderbird 68.10.0 (64-bit) on Xubuntu 18.04 and "Owl for Exchange" to connect to my company's email.

See attached photos. Thanks

On my laptop (Macbook Pro 2020; macOS 10.15.7), in Thunderbird (78.6.1; 64-bit), within only one email account (IMAP; server type = owl), the messages I see in every folder for that account disappear every time Thunderbird checks for new messages. (I have changed the time value to verify this.) This of course just started happening today, has worked fine for many months before this (even last night), and I recall no changes having been made to trigger this.

I can see the messages in any given folder again "if" I click on another folder and then back on that original folder. It is as if Thunderbird is forced to reload/re-show them. Or, I can right click on any folder, choose Properties and then click Repair Folder. This, too will restore visibility to the messages, until Thunderbird checks for new messages; whereupon, they all disappear again.

In order to give you wonderfully helpful people more information, just in case...

  • I did add this email account in Thunderbird using the Owl for Exchange extension, which has worked great. I do not know if it may be the culprit. Restarting Thunderbird in Safe Mode cannot verify this operation since the account is not even available when doing so.
  • I have multiple email accounts created in Thunderbird, even other IMAP accounts, and this only happens with one account.
  • This same problem email account does not have issues online or through my phone.
  • I noticed that this problem email account is the only one that will not allow me to Compact Folders. That option is greyed out for some reason.
  • If I have unread messages in my Inbox, then the Inbox folder still indicates as much, even though the messages are not visible until I re-jog things.

I am currently out of ideas.

When trying to install addons from Firefox addons management menu (tab 'about:addons'), they not downloads. and Firefox says 'addon can not be loaded because connection problem'.

When trying open 'https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/' have 'PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR'.

I am thinking the reason of this errors is blocking requests to 'addons.mozilla.org' by my internet provider (Beeline Kazakhstan). Because when I trying to connet to 'addons.mozilla.org' using VPN or proxy I have no problems described above.

I have no idea why this internet provider or goverment needs to block host 'addons.mozilla.org' (they love to block various website just fo fun). May you help me bypass this problem? May be you know the way how to install VPN addon offline for Mozilla Firefox whithout acces to addons webpage.

Sorry for my English and thank you for reading (:

I was deligted to get the chance to try Mozilla VPN, but after payment I discovered that the "Linux" installer is just an Ubuntu PPA. I run OpenSUSE, and I guess there are a lot of other non-ubuntu linux users out there too.

I _completely_ understand that it would be easier to restrict support to Ubuntu for the moment, but I wanted to ask if other Linux systems will be supported in future? (Even if it's just a zip file containing the executable)

Thanks!

I followed the instructions for migrating my Thunderbird profile and its data to my new computer. It took me a few tries, but I eventually got my email up. All seemed fine.

I shut down my PC normally, and the following day tried to start Thunderbird. All I got was a red box containing the line: <window id = messengerWindow" <pre> next line: ^

with the Thunderbird logo in the upper left corner and nothing else.

There was nothing I could do but uninstall Thunderbird, delete all the associated data from my PC, reinstall and re-migrate my profile. It worked ok for one day, booting up normally and loading Thunderbird normally, but today I had the red box and general nothingness again.

Has anybody had this problem and is there a solution? It's a real pain to have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling. I'm on a Windows 10 PC, nothing unusual about my file system.

I can set up a new Outlook link and it works, but cannot update the old account passwod setting, which has gone AOL. Is ther any way of duplicating the original setup wizard to update the old account so it will refind Outlook? Is there any way of amalgamating TB accounts so that I could set up a new link and then add the old emails? Is there any way of forcing TB to ask for the Outlook password again. The problem seems to arise from the latest update to TB

I have many recurring weekly tasks, all of which have been completed to date. After the recent update, however, all such past tasks now have the status "Not specified" and so appear in red in the list of tasks. If I change the status back to "Completed" on one of these tasks, then it does disappear from the list - but reappears when I restart the program.

Before the update, I rescheduled some recent individual instances of recurring tasks (so they wouldn't occur during holidays): the tasks now have their original dates. A similar reversion to original has also occurred with recent individual instances of recurring events: both the title and the category changed back after a restart of the program.

The problem seems to affect only recurring tasks and events.

The same issue exists on my two computers, both of which have Windows 10; they run Thunderbird independently.

I'd be very grateful for any useful advice.

A piece of software I need to use for work requires an older version of Firefox (Firefox 68.4.2 ESR) to run, so in the past, I've had to delete Firefox and re-download the older version which has worked fine. However, I recently got a new Mac and now when I try the same thing it's not working. Whenever I first open Firefox after downloading it, it opens as the correct (older) version, however it does not seem to be able to connect to the internet and I get the spinning wheel that never ends, and then whenever I close out of Firefox and reopen it, it automatically updates to the newest version. I have multiple times gone into the settings on Firefox and changed my preferences to check with me before installing updates and I've gone into the settings of the App Store to make sure it's not automatically updating any apps or programs. My computer is currently running OS version 11.1 (Big Sur) and I'm wondering if maybe this version is too new to be compatible with Firefox 68 ESR? Any help, ideas, or advice is greatly appreciated!

TB worked normally. I applied the TB 78.6.1 32bit update to the machine (win7 pro 64bit). Outlook, com server is configured as POP3 connection and on restart of TB I got a dialog - refused to authenticate with wrong password ... My other servers appear to respond correctly. Server settings all look ok. Entering the correct password when prompted (checked by web login) does not apparently authenticate TB ...

TEST: Just swapped from pop server to outlook.office365.com with same response.

Dialog text reads: Sending of password for user xxxxxxx@outlook.com did not succeed. Mail server pop-mail.outlook.com responded: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

FURTHER TEST: If I restart TB to force a reconnect with saved parameters, the Microsoft activity log for my account registers the access and logs a "successful sync" ... Doesn't this mean that it *has* actually authenticated but it is a Thunderbird response issue? I do not receive new email to TB despite the "successful sync" ...
