Firefox doesn't display the font Helvetica correctly

  • The attached image shows Firefox (on the right) not displaying Helvetica correctly. It appears jagged and not pleasant to look at. The browser on the left is Edge and all Chromium based web browsers seem to render it as it should.
  • I've tried to look into (about:preferences#general) and the option that says (Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above) is ticked.
  • I've also tried reinstalling the browser, clearing the website cache and also, removing my profile from it. None of these seemed to fix the issue.
  • It's been persistent for quite some time now, however I didn't really find any articles regarding this issue.
  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since the last update i have not been able to see my canvas student calendar or opens the assignments page in any course. I have tried the same in chrome and it works but when i tried to use safe mode and do the same in Firefox i wasn't able to get it to work. Video Link for the Screen Recording Done in safe mode

Normally I use side-berry to hold all of my tabs - the panel normally collapses and hides to the left of the screen - showing just the favicons of the website.

After the most recent firefox update 107.0 (20221110173214) there is now a large bar that i can't remove!

I have a CSS file for appearance, which i have included below.

any idea how to shrink this dead zone? I would really like to keep using my fun tabs.

Hello,

I have a firefox Account "accountA" which has the primary eMail-Address "mailA". I had an other Account "accountB" with primary eMail-Address "mailB" and secondary eMail-Address "mailC". Sadly I lost access to "accountB" and it's primary Mail-Address "mailB" (which is ok) but want to change the Mail from "accountA" to "mailC".

However, this is not possible since "mailC" is locked to "accountB" which I can no longer access (since I need the primary Mail Address. This meens I can never again use "mailC" for my Firefox account, which is now my primary Mail-Address. Is there should be a way to disconnect a Mail-Address from an account, if one has ownership of this Mail-Address?

I've gone down a rabbit hole of authentication in regards to Sync with Firefox. I'm wondering if I can regenerate a recovery key by removing the recovery key from my account and then choosing to re-enable a recovery key on my account? I do have the password for my primary email on my account, but I can't find the recovery key value for it.

I also have a secondary email on my account that I don't have a password for, and need to reset a password for it, but one problem at a time...

I restarted firefox today, and now I have the following behavior: I have a window with many tabs open, enough that I have the little '<' and '>' scroll buttons in the field. Whenever I move the mouse pointer into the tab area (including the scroll buttons, but not the '+' (new tab) button to the right), unless I am actively clicking, the tabs start scrolling rightward until only the rightmost set of tabs are visible. The window being viewed does not change. I can use the 'v' tab selector to the right, and it will select the chosen tab and make that visible in the window, and make the selected tab visible in the tab bar, but when I again move the pointer into the tab area, it starts scrolling to the right. Similarly, I can click on the '<' scroll left button, or double or triple click on it, and it will scroll the tabs leftward; but immediately after completing the action, the tabs will scroll rightward to the end again.

It seems my problem is the same one as in this thread but there was no solution given there (the problem persists after restarting Firefox in troubleshooting mode). I see the same behavior as that poster with the tooltips in the tab bar, but drop-down menus such as on this submission page seem to be working normally for me.

I first thought this issue was contained to a single website and was the fault of their IT, but I have begun to experience this issue on other websites, and it does not occur on other devices also using Firefox. It is difficult to explain given that I don't have any idea what is actually happening, but hopefully I can make it clear enough.

For some websites that require a username and password, I will correctly login and pass authentication but then I will be booted back to the initial login screen, almost like the login failed. I only know that it is technically a log out, not a failure, because I have briefly seen the URL change like I'm logging out. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox fresh multiple times on my Windows 11 laptop, but the same issue occurs consistently.

This happened when I was trying to login to the student portal for my university and when I was trying to login to my apartment's resident portal. Changing cookie settings or going into a private browser has not helped at all. I cannot tell if this is a bug with Firefox (maybe just on Windows 11?) or if there is some background setting that needs to be adjusted, but it is very frustrating. If this keeps happening, I would have to switch to a different browser, which would not be ideal.

Does anyone have any idea of steps that I could take for troubleshooting or any experience with similar issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a very bizarre problem. Basically I can't install any Firefox addon neither on my desktop OR may laptop. I noticed this issue just couple of days ago. When I try to install any addon normally, from a link, it tells me that the addon can't be installed because the file is corrupt. Tried several addons, all same problem. On my desktop AND on my laptop. On my desktop I'm running ver. 103, but on my laptop I still had ver. 102.1, so there is no Firefox update issue. When I try to install addon from xpi file, it tells me that I have no permission to open that file and that's it. I tried to take ownership of that file but it didn't solve the issue I tried to disable my AV program, but it didn't do anything. On my laptop, I tried to refresh FF, no help. I tried to start FF in safe mode, same problem. I created new profile, same issue. Eventually, I totally uninstalled FF, removing program itself, removing Appdata folder and even registry entry. Installed fresh copy of FF, same problem exists. Then, I noticed one thing. When I tried to sync fresh FF installation on my laptop, it synced everything, EXCEPT for addons. So, something is preventing me doing anything regarding addons. Themes install just fine. I've struggling with this problem since yesterday and at this point I totally ran out of any fresh ideas how to solve this issue, thus posting here. I'll appreciate any fresh idea as what to do next. Godaddy does not work at all on Firefox or in private. I had one add on and I disabled it. Godaddy still does not load Godaddy. Shall I simply remove Firefox and reinstall. I've spent 9 days now chasing this problem. Godaddy works fine with Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I no longer want the hassle of Godaddy issue.

I've tried to search and found some other posts about this, but not a ton... leading me to believe there is something wrong.

Issue: Fonts on some sites are too heavy/bold (vs appearing correctly on Chrome/Chromium browsers) Environment: Windows 10 or 11, Firefox stable (currently 105.0.1) Example site: https://www.subaruoutback.org (this is not the only one, just an example) Workaround(s): I can do one of two things... I can either enforce browser fonts globally, which fixes the issue but then also break some sites in other ways or I can use an add-on to let me selectively enforce browser fonts as needed (which is what I am doing).

Screenshots attached, this is my experience on multiple PCs (Windows 10 and 11). One image is from Firefox, one is from Chrome.

On some sites, it isn't a huge deal... maybe just looks bad but is functionally fine. On some sites the issue is more impactful and actually creates readability issues.

Of course I can continue to work around the issue, but ideally I would like to fix it.

I did read that there are some changes site owners can make for font handling, but obviously requesting that sort of thing isn't realistic in a general sense.

I am able to find the mailto setting easily. However, there are no clients listed to choose from, no gmail, yahoo, nothing. If I click "choose other" I'm expected to choose an application from my computer. I just want to be able to click a mailto link and have it go out through a new tab via my existing, free, yahoo mail account.
