I can insert outlook accounts into thunderbird easily and log onto oauth2 pages of these accounts.

Hi

I am UK user of Thunderbird and have been for many years...

I am likely to be the cause of my own problem as I have allowed my live email folders to accumulate thousands of emails... in excess of 26,000 in my inbox alone...

I have recently started to try to tidy these up as I need to transfer my data to a new PC. however, before attempting to copy the first batch of emails to a new local folder, I noticed that there appeared to be substantial gaps in my email folders with vast tracts of emails appearing to be missing.

I went on online to my email provider (fasthosts) and it seemed that the solution might be to refresh the emails... Sadly, this seemed to make matters worse.

It now appears that I am missing even larger numbers of historic emails (both from my inbox and from my received folder). We are talking 1000's of emails that have simply disappeared... Seemingly without trace.

I suspect any advice and instructions will be beyond my scope... Are there any support services available to UK users where sufficiently competent professionals can provide assistance to users who have clearly got out of their depth.

So Microsoft sent one of those "take action or lose access to your account (btw, Thunderbird sux, use Outlook instead, nudge, nudge, wink, wink)" e-mails to me. So I've beeen jumping through an unholy amount of hoops in order to find out what I'm supposed to do in order to fix whatever it is that needs fixing. I seem to have found the answer here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d. They were even "kind" enough to include specific instructions for Thunderbird. I did step 1 successfully, but unfortunately I'm stuck at step 2 because the Authetication method selector won't offer OAuth2 at all, as you can see here: https://i.postimg.cc/mrSstFtt/Captura.png.

1. What am I doing wrong? 2. How can I set my outgoing mail server to use OAuth2, then? 3. Do I need to anyway?

Hope you can give me a hand, so far this has been way more trouble than it needed to be. And after I sort it out I still need to do the same for K-9 on my phone -_-'.

I'm having trouble logging into my Gmail account using Firefox. After entering my username and password, the login process either freezes or displays a 'Something went wrong' error message. I've tried clearing the browser cache and cookies, disabling extensions, and even updating Firefox to the latest version, but the issue still occurs. What could be causing this problem, and what steps can I take to successfully log in to Gmail through Firefox?"

When I start Thunderbird I get the error message: "Login to server imap-mail.outlook.com with username mousehold@hotmail.co.uk failed." I have searched the internet and found this Mozilla support page, which seems to describe my problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202

However, I am unable to complete the solution offered, as Thunderbird (version 128.1.0esr (32-bit)) does not have the 'OAuth2' as an Authentication option for the Outgoing Server (SMTP) settings, as described on the support page...?

Emails are coming in (from Gmail) with the correct subject line, but the body says

"----_com.sonymobile.email_660493172259368--"

When I view source, there is a long block of Hex, several pages long and then "---_com.sonymobile.email_660493172259368--" at the end

They are fine via google gmail.

How do I fix this?

Hello, I am desperate. After an update today, my profile is gone. It would be no problem to set up the mails again. But I had saved a lot of mails in local folders for years and I'm afraid that I won't be able to access them if I set everything up again. Unfortunately, I can't do anything with the help articles because they are too technical. I think I have at least found the location of the locally stored mails. How should I proceed so that I can access them again? Thank you so much in advance, Klaudia

Hello,

First, apologies if this has already been asked; there doesn't appear to be a way to sort previous forum postings by date, and all similar questions seem to be dated 2022.

Here's my problem:

As of TB's most recent update, all of my messages are coming in as plaintext. They used to come in as HTML with external content (images, pixels, etc.) blocked, and a little warning bar gave me the option to download content if I trusted the sender. That little bar is gone, and now I can't figure out how to see images in the marketing emails that I actually want to see. I don't want to enable remote content for ALL senders, and setting up exceptions hasn't fixed the problem.

Can someone please tell me how to get this fixed?

Thank you!

I have contacted you previously and tried all the suggestions to solve my problem. None of them seemed to work. The issue only arose after a recent update to Thunderbird. I was pointed in the direction of my service provider. They confirmed nothing had changed their end. I created an email account in Microsoft Outlook. I can send and receive emails via my service provided. I have to assume the problem I am having is with Thunderbird. Before I leave Thunderbird for pastures new, do you have any suggestions? Bill
