Thunderbird attachements

When I try to save attachments from emails directly on my Computer, they never arrive at the destination folder - not individual files nor "save all attachements". Although the procedure '(left button menu - save - [navigation through file system till to the destination-folder] - save here') is "normal" and does not give any error message.

I can only save attachements, when i first open them (e.g. in word), and save them from there in its destination folder. This is quite a complicated procedure .. one should be able to save attachments directly from Thunderbird, without opening it.

What is the reason for this problem? Are there any options, is it a local problem (but it is a brandnew Laptop) or is it a bug in Thunderbird?

cannot add account from google. It is a .org being hosted on gmail.

Using thunderbird on several linux machines without issues. Loaded it on a windows 10 machine to get away from outlook and could not load a .org email account hosted by google that works on my other machines. Loading screen just spins endlessly (I let it go about 30 hours). Unable to get to the manual entry portion of the software to put in gmail setting.

Is there a way to bypass the automatic check with the software and go straight to manual entry of email settings? Suggestions?

I have two accounts with Thunderbird (*@talktalk.net and *@tiscali.co.uk). Each account will receive incoming emails (with or without attachments - single addressee or part of a group email). Periodically outgoing emails are blocked, with the error message 'Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Reject for policy reason. Please check the message and try again.' Usually the issue seems to fix itself - this tome it has lasted longer than usual. Please can someone suggest a remedy? Tony

I’m on a Mac using the Sequoia OS (not ready to update yet to Tahoe). I recently left Microsoft Outlook, my e-mail client for years, because of all the crashing and when I would update, all the stored e-mails disappeared. I am now using Apple Mail and the export function doesn’t work most of the time. Apple tech support did some things that told me they are automatic backups, but I can’t see them.

I use Thunderbird on an old PC and would like to also use it on my Mac. However, when attempting to import, it starts and finishes in about one second, importing nothing. The files are in .mbox format. What am I doing wrong trying to import these files?

Sometimes i get messages that contain only similar content like this on below:

'"--_010_AM9PR01MB741253DE32DF125557E6A8C4FD29AAM9PR01MB7412eurp_--"'

Its corrupted only in Thunderbird client on my laptop. When i open the same message on my phone or on different mail (web)client it works and if I forward message to myself it does show the content. There is no fixed condition or sender that implicates corruption. My Thunderbird is updated, senders have message format set to HTML or Plain Text. It started a while ago, but till then everything was working just fine. Also some messages that I send turn out to be corrupted. I haven't checked MIME yet. Antivirus works just fine with Thunderbird since installation. One and only extension added to Thunderbird is LookOut for opening .dat attachments sent from Outlook.

What should I do to retrieve info from all of those messages and to prevent them from corrupting in the future?

Today I tried some of the View option.

I've tried every View combination, but I can't get back to the way I had it! 😣

I use gmail as my email provider and thunderbird configured as pop so I can keep my emails on my computer. There are times I want to manually move a gmail to the gmail inbox so thunderbird downloads it. I cannot seem to get this to work. The gmail shows on my iphone, which is IMAP, but not for POP download on my computer. I move the gmail to inbox but it sits there and thunderbird does not download it.

Any help is appreciated.

My inbox messages that are incoming are showing the following message and no data. This has happened for several days. It comes from both internal and external contacts and I know the emails are not spam/junk. How do I fix it so I get the messages. It is this same code on all days and all the emails with this message. I do get some of my other emails so not sure how it is decided which this is happening to but I am missing out on several that I need due to this issue. Thanks for your assistance!

We have installed Thunderbird version 144.0.1 on a new computer. We successfully created one email account, but we are unable to add another one.

When we try to set up a new account by entering the name and email address and then clicking Continue, the process stops and does not go any further.

When I opened Thunderbird this morning it shows only local folders. I urgently need to retrieve the others as at the moment I am unable to send emails. I can access address book but it will not let me send. I am 86 so nothing to technical please.

I couldn't find the right keywords to find the answer in either Google or this Q&A forum.

I added a new email account, but didn't write down how to get its folder to be hidden so "Tunderbird" is the only folder that is shown in the left hand-side tree.

Restarting TB didn't help, and it's not obvious while going through the different settings.
