Whenever i use Firefox on my iPad, if I switch to another app and then back to Firefox, Firefox will automatically open up a new tab. I’d like it to stop, and just go to what I set it as in Preferences, or to what I’ve left open when I switched away from it. I’ve looked in Preferences and cannot find out how to stop it from opening new blank tabs by default.

Is there a way to stop it from doing this?

Also in my Firefox search bar it has changed from google to microsoft search engine but when I hit the search arrow it has a box that says- a browser seach and then goes to microsoft bing. Can you help me figure out how to get my mozilla back to normal. I love using this and dont want to let it go. Its the best browser ever!!!

Why isn't the Restore Previous Session choice available on the Open Application Menu? Even if I click the checkbox under Tools/Settings/General/Startup: Open Previous Windows and Tabs (version 107/windows 11), I am presented with a tabula rasa screen on reopening my Firefox session. Your help/support says to go to the Open Application Menu/History and choose Restore Previous Session (located between Recently Closed Windows and Clear Recent History). However the Restore Previous Session is not listed. Not sure why Firefox can't get this right since you have had it right for the almost 20 years I have chosen it as my default browser.

Hi!

In my firefox 105.0.3 I am logged in to my Office365 Outlook webmail. I have also configured firefox to handle mailto so that it opens outlook.office.com webmail. When I click a mailto link on a homepage it opens up a new mail to compose but in the same tab. So my question is, is it possible to make firefox open the compose page in a new tab?

Thanks

Regards Jonas

A couple days ago, late, I accidentally closed my main Firefox window before a little window that I'd forgotten was there - and all my 76 tabs disappeared. 1st thing yesterday I tried - 3bar / history / recently closed tabs - but the only thing in there was the one tab from the small window. Urg! I tried that and - 3bar / history / manage - where I could see my tabs but could only restore 1 at a time - not good for 76 tabs. I read a bunch of different questions about this same issue, and tried the suggestions, including some app called scrounge, but none of these restored my tabs. Help!!!!

Hello,

Firefox is currently opening external link in the current tab, without any possibility to go back. For example, whenever I follow a link from a program (e.g. a pdf reader), when I press F1 in LibreOffice etc., the page being opened in Firefox will replace the current tab (and the history for that tab will be disabled).

'This is a problem for several reasons': 1. One can't go back to the current since it's gone from the "go back one page". 2. If I am doing something in the tab, everything will automatically disappear, without any warning. 3. Since the current page will disappear completely, it can be tricky to know what tab content is being "overwritten".

Thank you in advance! Regards

Upon restart, Firefox has kept dropping (not loading) hundreds of tabs. 555 tabs, as also listed in my sessionstore, but after loading is finished, only about 330 is actually loaded of those. Previously, there have been similar issues with different sets, and loading the full set over, and over again, sometimes the full set or very close to the full set is loaded, indeed. But it is clear that there's a bug or at least a very inconsistent behaviour in the code somewhere. How can this be propely troubleshot and fixed? Happy to help. Thanks.

I have a large number of tabs open. I have tried closing a lot of them but whenever Firefox restarts, it reopens ALL the old tabs, including the ones which I closed individually during the previous session, ie it ognores the fact that I specifically closed some of the in the previous session. I need to reduce the number of tabs substantially but Firefox is preventing this. I am NOT a technical expert. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Problem I had two versions of Firefox open. Window "A" (my primary window) had many open tabs. Window "B" had only three tabs open. Like a knucklehead I accidentally closed the wrong window, "A". Upon restarting only the "B" version was there.

Possible Solution Two days ago I cloned my "C" drive as a backup. Although the Profile folder on the backup will only have 90+% of the tabs - I can gratefully live with that. I just need to know what files to copy over from the backup drive Profile folder to the messed up drive's Profile folder. I am hoping it will be that easy and I can copy the tab files and not the entire Profile folder. Thanks.
