Thunderbird issue:

System: Two computers running Linux Mint 21.3 - Google Chrome is the default browser.

Both running Thunderbird 115

Both have the same two accounts set up  : Pop3 – gmail.com

Both accounts were announcing ‘You Have Mail” using custom WAV file.

Both accounts are set for manual downloads.

I stay up to date on all updates for system as well as TB

Issue:

All worked A-O.K. until a month ago when one (primary account on one computer stopped announcing “You Have Mail”. The other account (secondary) as well as both accounts on the other computer still function normally, i.e. the wav file is functional.

I have tried everything that I can think of to address the issue but have been coming up empty handed.

I haven’t messed with the css files but have change paths to the file, used a different wav file. Tried oga, mp3, etc. all with no fix. I’ve changed themes and checked other add-ons. Still no fix.

I could live without it but I’m one that likes to have everything working!

Is it in my profile or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In my Linux installation, there is a folder /home/.thunderbird/<account name>/Photos It contains many small images of people in jpeg format. They have name similar to 69c143ed0a9180b5_1551971368866.jpeg or d36fef86-48fb-4fe5-b036-a42676e2e39f.VALUE=URI-JPEG. I do not know from where these files come, nor what purpose they serve, nor if they can be deleted without creating any problems. In particular, I would like to know if the creation of files in that folder can be disabled. If so, how? If not, can they be deleted without creating any issues?

Would it be possible to render the weeks in the calendar vertically rather than horizontally? I would love to have the ncal-like layout of the months. And also a month or two to see ahead, ideally to see the current month and two following months. Thank you for considering this feature request.

See above. I received the settings from my server, and my domain name is hvc.rr.com, not the one that you assumed when I first tried this ungodly process. Excactly what do we need to do to get this set up? I'll try to be nice, but working with online contacts is getting increasingly frustratingly complex.

Hi dear Mozilla-Community,

I have run into the issue that is described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/1fdwv49/what_is_thunderbird_doing_to_fix_this_outlook_in/ and solved here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202

Now, the issue for me is that i cannot select the OAuth2-password option on my outgoing server option because it simply is not there (see screenshot attached - it's in German but you will get the idea). Ingoing has been changed (automatically, I suppose) to OAuth2 and works just fine but the outgoing is broken.

I am on the newest Nebula 128...esr.

What can I do? Thanks a lot in advance!

Prior to being pushed the Thunderbird update to Version 128.2.3esr this morning, I had always received a popup window to confirm message deletion. After the update this morning, I am not getting the confirmation window and I have not been able to find a setting that might have been turned off with the update.

The closest setting I can find is extensions.webextensions.ExtensionStorageIDB.migrated.confirmbeforedelete@caligraf which is set to TRUE.

Has this functionality been removed from Thunderbird? I sure hope not.

Good morning, I has been using Thunderbird for my email account for several years. For the first time I encountered a problem that Thunderbird seems not to see sub folders I have created on the IMAP server. They suddenly disappeared and when I go to synchronization, the program does not open the list to select folders to download. I tried to restart computer, close and open thunderbird, but nothing seems to help. I will appreciate advice or assistance. Kind regards, anna.

I have two installs of Thunderbird on Windows. On a calendar window, one of them has an upper toolbar with "Synchronize Event Task Edit Delete" options. See the attachment. On the other install, that upper toolbar is not present, and I do not know how to enable it.

Any advice is appreciated.

After a power outage I now get this message on all three of my computers but only on some accounts:

"An error occurred while sending mail, The mail server responded: <1234@roadrunner.com> sender rejected. The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. Please check your SMTP settings, AUP#Out-1500. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."

I know what that means but I'm very confused because I use and have always used ONE <default> smpte for all my accounts and never had a problem until now. Thunderbird even gives the user a choice of whether to use one default account or separate smpte password statements for each account. I still can't send when I try to enter separate urls and/or passwords for each account. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks, Joe

I have noticed a problem that could be potentially dangerous. I received an email with a PDF attachment. The attachment contained a number of filled in information in predefined preset fields of the document. When I opened the attachment, some of the fields did not show the filled information, the corresponding fields were shown as blank. When I opened the same attachment using the Windows Outlook desktop Application, all the information was displayed correctly. Changing the Action field in the Thunderbird settings under Datatype and Attachment to open the PDF with EDGE, the information in the attachment was displayed correctly again in the preview mode of Thunderbird. There seems to be a limitation within the PDF preview mode in case the standards settings are used: this should be corrected as it can cause serious problems, if important information is not displayed.
