Newly installed W10 and Tbird 78.10.2 on my laptop using saved profile from my desktop PC (W7; Tbird 78.10.1 - no problems there). Opening Tbird on the laptop the first time works fine - everything as expected, seems to have everything in the right place etc.. Then closed Tbird and reopened it - the BIG problem starts!

It reopens with this wee grey window 9see attached image) and nothing I've tried from suggestions garnered from around WWW has helped.

This now happens every time Itry to open T'bird.

Your skilfull assistance in solving this will be GREATLY appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi. I'm just trying to back up my Thunderbird Profile. I've done it several times before, but this time I'm confused.

I noticed this time that when I try the two different methods of getting to my Thunderbird Profile, I at least *seem* to end up in two different places and at two different sets of profiles.

The two profile-locating methods I used are here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_where-is-my-profile-stored

In summary, the two methods were: METHOD 1 - The open Thunderbird > Help > Troubleshooting > Profile folder section > Open Folder method. METHOD 2 - The Windows symbol on keyboard + R then %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles method.

Attached are the two results I got. METHOD 1 (first image) ends up with a single profile result, which I like (no wondering which to use). Is it a GOOD thing that the filename is the same exact filename as my profile filename that I had brought over from my old computer onto this computer in 2019 (third image, showing profile I brought over to my new PC in 2019)? METHOD 2 (second image) ends up with 3 profile results, though one is dated a bit more recently, though none *today* (May 27, 2021). Maybe I did the Method 2 wrong? Or I set up TBird the wrong way back in 2019 on this new PC, ending up with the method 2 way leading me to the wrong profile(s)?

how do I restore history and bookmark files? I have Linux mint 17.7.1 Rebecca. There was a message that there was three updates waiting (one of which was from Firefox). I got the message all three downloaded successfully and I was "up to date". My normal boot up screen was now replaced with a firefox info screen. All bookmarks and history disappeared. I am not familiar with Linux so if there is a restore to prev fix I would be grateful for a step by step fix. This same thing happened on my windows 7 os when I got an update message but that was a simple fix of just restoring to previous day. The Firefox version that is the latest offending # 78.7.1

I'm, searching for emails in Thunderbird and it returns a pile, all relavant to a conversation I had with someone on 2013. That's great. Alas if Open as List, or click any email I get nothing. There are no emails. Now I have a gut feel I know why, but just that, a gut feel. This possible coincides with a mailserver crash that lost a lot of data. Thunderbird connected with imap at the time. It should have kept local copies of course, and perhaps did, and might find some clues if only I could extract more metadata. The return summary is appetite whetting but it doesn't reveal what mailbox they were in, what email address they were sent to, or the full message contents. Can we conceivably extract more from the thunderbird search tool's backend index and cache than it is revealing?

After upgrading to ver 78, many people posted about inability to save a message as a draft. The error message provided little hint as to what was wrong, and the replies to those posts were no help. I've had that problem too. After recent updates, the problem persists, but the error message has changed and it now identifies the cause: TB is trying to encrypt the message, and the key it wants is not available.

I have 4 email accounts configured in TB, and this problem exists for 3 of them. For the account without the problem, the End-To-End Encryption settings has this 'OpenPGP': "Thunderbird doesn't have a personal OpenPGP key for <thisAccount>" and nothing else. For the others it has the same, but it also has "Your current configuration uses key ID 0x..." That ID refers to obsolete key that no longer exists. I never added this to my configuration, but somehow it got put there around the time of the upgrade to ver 78. For all accounts, there is an option to "Add Key..." but there seems to be no way to remove a key.

I don't need my draft messages to be encrypted, so I would like to change the configurations of the 3 errant accounts so as to remove the non-existent key. How can I do that? I can delete the key in the OpenPGP Key Manager, but that does not remove it from the account configuration.

This problem is not just annoying, it's downright devastating. I sometimes spend hours composing a message, so if something goes wrong it's important to be able to recover the saved draft in order to avoid starting over.

I have 2 phones- an older ZTE Axon 7 with Android v7.1.1 & the other is a Razer Phone 2, with Android v9.0. In the Google Play Store, the ZTE had Firefox v88.1, then v88.1.1, then v88.1.3, v88.1.4, THEN-> v89.1, then v89.1.1 The Razer is currently on v88.1.3, but I haven't had an update after that! There's been times where 1 phone or the other, has gotten an update before the other, but the updates have always been the same version, whether it was Google, Firefox, or any other app! I pay close attention to this type of thing! But, now- I'm totally confused about what's going on! I'm disabled, with Traumatic Brain Injury, & have TONS of saved bookmarks, emails, texts, & other info/data, that involves medical, legal, & other subjects, dating back to the mid+2000's, which I cannot lose, due to my Worker's Comp case, although settled, is still being a source of ongoing legal battled, due to an uninsured employer, & State of Calif's Guarantee Assoc, who pays my lifetime benefits! I HAVE to be sure that there isn't anything "faulty" about the operation of both my phone's! Can someone explain to me WHY there's a difference in the Firefox versions I have on my phone's? This is super important! Thanks!

I have been suing Firefox since it was first released in 2004 as my primary, go to browser. It has all my bookmarks and data integrated into it for ease of use in my digital world. When the ability to SYNC and add it to my android device became available, I jumped on setting up an account and syncing it with my desktop, phone and laptop as this creates a more seamless experience of not needing to transfer bookmarks and saved logins and passwords or browsing history. I have always heavily used the "Print" function from my android as I need to for my line of work. I have noticed that for quite some time now, I have not been able to locate this feature. Upon looking into a bit today, I noticed that Mozilla Org knowingly removed this most BASIC BASIC BASIC of features from the application. SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Wait, you removed the ability to PRINT?!?!?! Wait, NO WAY! REALLY!??!?! Why? This renders the browser largely useless to me given how I use it. I read on a post that has been locked in response to MANY others finding this move by Mozilla Org to be EXTREMELY frutstrating, "you don't need to use this browser, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to use it" and many other really nasty replies to people inquiring about this MOST BASIC OF BASIC functions having been removed..... LISTEN, I have been a supporter of Firefox since it's first release. Without early adopters like me, using it, spreading the word and continuing to use it and continuing to spread the word almost 20 years later.... This is called LOYALTY and Firefox wouldn't have gone very far without people like me so don't be rude and don't be a D*@K! This feature MUST be added back in the very next release, why is it taking so long? Why didn't you work out the kinks for printing BEFORE releasing the last update? How long will it be before you fix this broken mobile web browser? Do you really want me to abandon Firefox after all these years? Your competitors make it really easy to move all my stuff over to their browser but I DO have a loyalty to Firefox. Please don't disrespect or disregard my loyalty. Take care of your long time users by trying not to release version missing THE MOST BASIC of functions, like printing. This is SO basic it's difficult for me to understand any logical reasoning behind why you would remove a previously existing feature that is obviously heavily used. Doesn't seem like the actions of very bright people and I have always thought of FIrefox as a cutting edge browser designed by very bright people. Don't prove me wrong please. Thanks
