I have 2 email accounts on TB, one is a hotmail account and one is an msn account. MSN account works fine. Hotmail account on my iphone works fine both sending and receiving messages. On Thunderbird my hotmail account receives messages but if I try to "reply" to a message or if I try to send a new message using the hotmail account I receive the following message. When I checked my version it says I'm using Mozilla/5.0 Windows NT10.0 WOW 64, rv: 52.0 gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/52.3.0

I run Win7. Very frequently in TB's lower left corner, it shows that messages are downloading. Recently the download time has lengthened appreciably, even when the message does not contain attachments. Also moving from one message to the other takes considerable time. Since this started three days ago, I have uninstalled any programs added in that period. MalwareBytes' scan run daily has no malware. Also have uninstalled the anti-spam on my McAfee a/v.

Any other suggestions on why this might occur?

I have a fresh install of Thunderbird on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit using original default profile with two mail accounts configured correctly and both set to store messages in Local Folders. Clicking 'Get Messages' on toolbar does nothing - retrieval is not even attempted according to status bar. However, I can retrieve messages by clicking the 'Get Messages' dropdown and selecting each individual account.

My previous installation on Windows XP was able to check all configured accounts by simply clicking 'Get Messages'.

I shutdown Thunderbird and restarted and it now prompts me to create a new account and all my email boxes are missing. The files are still in C:\Users\masud\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default and I have tried creating a new profile and transferring over some of the main files to the new profile, but this gives the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled TB and still no luck. My Address book is accessible though.

My environment - I am running Thunderbird 115.10.2 (64-bit), and Windows 10. - I have had NO Windows updates for at least two weeks.

The problem - About five days ago, outgoing messages (messages I was trying to send) started taking about 15 to 30 seconds before they were sent successfully.

- Today, I am unable to send messages. I can receive messages.

Actions I have taken 1. I re-installed Thunderbird after using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall it. 2. I contacted my ISP. They checked their settings, and have been unable to detect any error.

Please help!

Hi. Today, at the end of my work session, I have cleaned my computer with 'CCleaner' and then I have switched off my computer. When I have turned on it, both firefox and thunderbird have restarted themselves as if I had just installed them. Firefox never mind because there are still all the bookmarks, but thunderbird show me the initial settings. How I can solve this problem? I have a backup, but it hasn't been updated recently.

Hi folks,

Issue: IMAP folders do not show up in file tree despite being subscribed to AND 'show only subscribed' being unchecked

Scenario: 32bit release channel, issue exists on multiple (all tested) machines, tested with all addons disabled

Long explanation: Been I've been suffering this issue for months hoping updates would fix it. Having searched here thoroughly and found nobody else reporting my issue I wondered if perhaps my configuration had become corrupted across all machines somehow so I nuked the profile and started again from scratch. This solved it so I spent 2 days doing the same to all our other machines. A few days later we were all suffering the same problem all over again. Wondering if it was caused by my mail provider which was AWS I migrated the whole companies mails to Rackspace. This meant recreating all the accounts again and for a few days once again everything seemed fine but then the problem was back across the board. Outlook does not seem to suffer this issue but it lacks many features we use extensively and a number of addons we rely on too.

Please take a look at the attached images; as they say, they tell 1,000 words.... (These are refusing to upload, I shall post and then try to edit this post to add them or post them below, hopefully.)

Any thoughts, suggestions for diagnosing, etc gratefully received!

All the very best, -Tom

I'm getting a "nonoverridable TLS error" message when Thunderbird first opens. Also, new emails won't download into my IMAP account. I've tried adjusting the incoming and outgoing server port settings and even turning off the antivirus and phishing email scanners. Nothing works. It's now 1:59 PM on a Thursday afternoon and I've received no new emails since 11:20 AM. Please give me security settings that will work.

Hi,

I'm not sure what I did but I can no longer see the headers of any of my messages. Setting headers to all doesn't change anything. All I see are the columns at the top, then the message immediately. I don't see the To: CC: etc.

I'm pretty sure I accidentally flipped a setting but I'm not sure which one. If this seems familiar to someone, let me know!

Thanks,

L

Can you at least tell us WHEN you plan to release the fix since you locked the comments to block the countless negative ones? Is it so hard for your UX team to understand that removing multiselect functionality is like removing Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V and set the correct priority???

If I shut down thunderbird by mistake and restart it, my Gmail can't be read. There is a blue line at the bottom showing it is trying to do something, but it never finishes. I close every running program, reboot, and it works fine until I mistakingly shut it down again. I have several accounts and get hundreds of emails every day. I try to keep deleting them, empty trash, and compact folders. My Imap folders in my profile are huge. Many gigabytes. I plan to migrate to a new computer and don't want to move whatever is wrong to the new computer. This means I will have to start fresh, set up the accounts, fix the signature files, etc. Then I can export the address book and import them to the new computer. This will be very time consuming. Is there some way I can delete the saved emails from the profile file and copy the rest of the profile over?

Hello, I recently deleted all my emails by accident, but have read that they are still in the mbox file. I have changed the x-mozilla-status to 0000, and I have broken the file up into six parts to make it editable on VIM.

The file is all over the place... blank lines missing, names missing.... but the file is recognised in Thunderbird and shows a few hundred of the emails...

By dividing up the inbox, each of the smaller files shows about 350 or so emails. But not all. The importing seems to stop after a multi-part mime message... no messages after that are recognised.

I have found python scripts like mboxsplit.py that say they will separate the mbox into individual emails, but it is also not recognising the emails after the mime fault.

Does anyone know of a code that will just recognise the From - line and split that way?

I can't find any splitting solutions that don't try to read messages or understand mboxdr format. I just want to separate text, save as different files.

Suddenly, I could not send emails. This has happened before, but quite some time ago, so I can't recall how I solved it back then. I went through the “Cannot Send Messages” https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages steps and discovered that there was no entry line at all for smtp outbound when I checked "Saved Logins" to see the passwords. Mailbox inbound was there, but not smtp outbound. It had been there before without doubt.

The original error message said that I needed to enter a password, which, when I checked as I described, was missing. So trying again, I entered the password and checked the box that lets the system manager remember it. Now an smtp outbound line appeared in "Saved Logins," but I still could not attempt to send a message without an error notice that declared failure

This error message I kept getting was this one:

  Login Failed
? Login to server outbound.att.net failed
  [Retry] [Enter New Password] [Cancel]

(As you can see, the underlying email service is from the unfortunate ATT/Yahoo, the second half of which is known by the lovely name "Oath" (visions of writhing fanatics swearing allegiance at a blazing altar), which I am seeking to replace. Meanwhile, I must have working email service from it through the heretofore wonderful client Thunderbird.)

Imagine my surprise when I happened to check the "Sent" box and discovered that these messages all were listed as having gone out despite the failure message I was receiving, but given that tests I sent to myself were not received, these must have been on the order of "false positives." I tried the steps in that "Cannot Send Messages" article and cannot imagine what is wrong.

What am I missing?

Thank you.

Win8.1 using Tbird 24.5.0. Download of emails became intermittent in mid-May. As of 6/4, none can be downloaded. No problem sending emails. I have a POP3 account with Earthlink. I started Tbird in safe mode via Help > Restart with ad-ons disabled.

The status bar at the bottom stated that I was connected to pop.earthlink.net. Then it stated that is was 'Downloading message 1 of 116'. After a while with no messages coming in, it stated 'No messages to download'. It never said downloading message 2, so I don't think the messages went somewhere unknown.

This is the situation with my Windows firewall disabled and with my G Data antivirus disabled. I've tried various other things after reading that others are having a similar problem. Earthlink support verifies that I have the right setup. I uninstalled Tbird and reinstalled. I removed the account and added a new one -- and lost my saved emails until I went to my backup. Someone mentioned a ad blocker. I have one on Chrome from Adblock Plus; I don't see how that would affect Thunderbird.

What now? Thanks, Bruce

I am using Thunderbird 115.10.1 on Windows 11. T keeps deleting my saved passwords. T takes a very long time to load. There are no saved passwords and I enter them all with the options to save. I check the passwords in Settings and they are all there correctly. When I next run Thunderbird it may or may not have them still saved. I check the Settings and they have gone; so I enter them again and they are saved OK. But then they are deleted some time later. I cannot see any pattern in the failure. I wonder if there is a problem with the outgoing server setttings. All the passwords are lost whether imap, pop (Ionos), hotmail or yahoo. Is there a way to clear out my profile or is this a problem with this T release. it did not happen until about 1-2 months ago. My profile is on a local NAS. Generally T seems to be quite unstable ; I get Not Responding too often.. Thanks
