Just recently I've started receiving a message that I can't save edited photos from my SDHC cards back to the card and that I have to choose another location. There is a FireFox.exe in the left hand corner in the message. I, also, can no longer delete nor copy and paste the images on the card. The card is not locked and it only happens on my laptop computer but not when I use the card on my desktop. I recently had Windows updates and Firefox updates on the laptop so I'm wondering if that has something to do with the problem. I have changed no settings. Thank you in advance for any help

The issue seems almost random, ie it doesn't seem to matter which email account I use or whether it is a reply to an mail or a newly generated one.

Setup:

Linux Mint V19.1 Thunderbird V60.2.1 (64-Bit)

Symptoms:

I generate the reply or new email, then hit Send. It does send, and I get the little window with the "Message Sent" dialog. The status bar may show any number, but the latest one was 99% But at that point the entire PC and all programs lock up. The mouse cursor moves, but no keyboard response, no ability to click on anything, get into terminal mode, etc...total computer lock up. I have to do a power off/on reboot, everything comes up normally and the messages does show up in the Send folder.

Troubleshooting attempts:

I have done a global reindex, as well as a 'repair' on all folders. I have gone into safe mode, and have removed all addons as well. I have changed the Nvidia graphic card driver from Open Source to the "recommended" Nvidia driver. I have uninstalled (complete removal) Thunderbird and reinstalled using normal Mint repository install. Note: I do have a large number of mail folders and some of those folders and archives are quite large. I back them up before I uninstall Thunderbird, and then simply copy them back into the .thunderbird location. No problems/errors show when I do this and I am able to retain my exact old structure of folders.

None of these efforts have stopped the problem. At this point I am ready to wipe the system and reinstall Linux Mint. But thought I would make a plea for help here for some advice on perhaps how to look elsewhere or some log I have no clue about that may have useful info in it.

Thanks,

Monty

I have been using Thunderbird (or its predecesors) since before AOL bought Netscape. Or Verizon bought AOL and Yahoo, and combined them all. When I use my lifetime netscape.net account, I see "sending login" in the bottom left corner of the window, every time I "select" a different IMAP folder. There are times when I will get a popup message that I am unable to login, or prompt me to retry my password, after changing folders 4 or 5 times. Typically when changing back and forth between "Bulk Mail" and "Trash" folders, checking for mis-identified spam or filters that may be too aggressive.

I have a vanity domain mail server at home, where I have been archiving mail since 1998. I have hundreds of folders and subfolders, active and archived. When connecting to this account with Thunderbird, I see a differnent message in the corner when selecting folders, "opening <foldername>".

The only differences between these account configurations that I can see, is imap.aol.com (netscape.net) requires SSL. My home server on my private LAN uses unencrypted/clear connections.

I can not imagine why an IMAP "SELECT" command would be any different on an SSL connection than it is on an clear connection. When Netscape/AOL/Yahoo/Verizon sends the popup to retry my password, the correct password always fails, which leads to an unable to login message. I have to close Thunderbird before I can re-open and access my netscape.net account again.

Out of curiosity, I have tried other mail clients to connect to netscape.net (imap.aol.com), and have never experience the same problem with Outlook, Evolution, or Claws. I hope this is enough information to find and squash what I perceive to be a bug in Thunderbird.

Hi guys,

I don't know if this is happening to you too, but it's getting me crazy. Since the latest upgrade (firefox 75), I open the program and start working normally. After one hour or so, I can not open any new tab, I have to close everything and reopen firefox again to start opening the same pages I got before to continue working with one more tab. For the first hour, everything is working as normal.

This also happens if I try to open a new window instead of a new tab.

I have tried to reset the profile but this does not do anything. Also, I have tested to start in safe mode without any add-on, but the problem is still there.

Anyone with the same problem?

Thanks!

I clicked on the Private Network icon when FF loaded, before I got the prompt to input my master password. After I input my master password FF crashed. After restarting FF, Now Private Network is asking me to "Login to FF account" when I click on the already dimmed Private network account. But, I'm already logged in. Also, When I enter my user/pass on the prompt to login again, I get a alert to check email and put the code in... That code never works(see attached screenshot). I get a red alert bar on the email code screen that there is a security issue.

So is there a timeout for such a issue? or ?

Even if I close Firefox completely the process will continue if i open Firefox again. This can only be stopped when I smash the Strg+W Puttons to close all the Tabs faster then they are opening.

I hope someone can help me with this. It is really annoying when it happens.

Thanks and best regards.

When I launched Thunderbird a few minutes ago, it did the automatic update. When my inbox appeared, it had not downloaded any mail since I checked it a few days ago. I tried to download manually, but it timed out and did not download. So, I shut the program down and now when I launch it I get the error:

"A newer version of Thunderbird may have made changes to your profile which are no longer compatible with this older version. Use this profile only with that newer version..."

I tried launching using the "thunderbird.exe -p" command, to see if there were multiple profiles. There are not and when I tried to launch the Default profile, I got the above error again.

The "maintenanceservice-install.lot" file for today has this text in it:

"Upgrading service if installed... User access was set successfully on the service. The MozillaMaintenance service path is correct. The service was upgraded successfully"

Obviously, it wasn't upgraded successfully! Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Many thanks.
