I always used the original Firefox search as my home page; one simple little panel in the middle of the page with a quick and easy search feature. I loved it. The latest version of Firefox has ruined it. Now we are forced to search from the address bar. I hate, loathe, and despise doing a search from the address bar. It is an A-1 nightmare. After you type one letter, it stops registering what you type and throws up a ridiculously long list of the web pages you've visited. Type another letter, and you have to go through this mess again. It makes for an absurdly slow search and never actually gets you to what you're searching for. I wound up with search results that weren't even related to each other much less related to what I was searching for. After one day of use, I'm so frustrated with this feature that I'm opening Google to do the search.

How do we reset this new version of Firefox to only search from the Firefox homepage search box and not go anywhere near that address bar? Or do I have to uninstall the latest update to get Firefox to function properly again? Even if it's an add-on that forces the search to where it belongs...anything!

I just updated to Firefox version 89, and now open tabs appear at the bottom of the page (where the search box would be). Opening multiple windows shows all of them at the bottom. Is there a way to get them back to the top under the Bookmark Toolbar where they belong. I can't believe this is something done on purpose ... It's certainly not an improvement. THANKS!

I has taken many years of work for Mozilla to create a usable internet browser, and now you have taken that away. How was the Person who decided to put the search option into the URL. This is not only unsafe, but makes the Start page, useless. When I type in the Search I want to see it being input into the middle of my Start page like it has always been done, not waist a whole page for nothing. It is not only a stupid idea, it is also a waist of the text that us used to create the Start page. I would also like to note that many of the mobile, tablet and other computers all use this method, and it is rubbish and removes the point of having a page with a search text box in the middle.

for god sake can you please stop trying so hard to be the best of the best, Firefox has always been the best, and you seem to be trying your best to destroy it for many many users.

I might have accidentaly reset my firefox browser and since I wasn't logged in I kind of lost all my bookmarks and saved logins. Luckly I found some backup files, seemingly with all the information I need, but it's in the wrong format and I have no clue how to import them to firefox. The screenshot I have is of the files I managed to dig up.

I just got the most recent update for Firefox, and since then I can only search in the address bar, which I don't like. In the past, I could just use the web search tab from the Mozilla homepage, and the address bar was only for URL links and websites from my history. Now, every time I try to search withing my web search tab, the texts moves to the address bar. I tried working on my settings, but regardless of how many times I uncheck the 'search in the address bar' option, it will check itself again automatically (I'm not sure this is necessarily the problem). I have already tried things in about:config, setting keyword.enabled, browser.urlbar.oneOffSearches and browser.fixup.alternate.enabled to false, but that changes the way the address bar works, it does not fix my issue. Is there any way to change that?

The most recent update seems to have changed something I can't figure out how to change back myself.

When I start a search in the Firefox search engine box (the one in the middle of the screen), the text is instead entered in the address bar at the top. The search still performs the same but it is more of an aesthetic preference. Is there an option I am overlooking that enables the search text to appear in the search engine box, rather than in the address bar?

I did try disabling the address bar but that just stopped the search function from working.

Hi,

I'm using Firefox 89.0 (64 bit) on Lubuntu OS via Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu Canonical - 1.0.

Despite selecting Restore previous session in settings, and quitting firefox using Ctrl-Q, firefox does not restore the previously open tabs. I have to click on history -> Restore previous session for the tabs to load.

This issue started recently. Please fix the bug.

Thanks, Ajit

Dear Community,

Something I use every day for work is the Google search for "hotels near Brooklyn, NY" (for example or any address in different cities), which I then choose the first photo map result.

And almost always, even while in troubleshooting safe mode), the map will always load (and expand and contract), but unfortunately the hotel description results on the left will not populate (even though it begins to populate - and then disappears. When it doesn't, I constantly have to reload the page to make it work. I haven't seen this problem in 5 years, and Google Chrome (which I hate using, but used to test against Firefox) has no problems loading the page each and every time (regardless of the address or city name I use). This began occurring within seconds of updating to the latest Firefox version. I suggest experimenting a few times so you can see the problem develop. You can also scroll to the bottom of the page and select page 2, to also see this lack of population.
