I have been using Firefox for many years. Today I was trying to find a workaround for another mail merge problem so I added Chrome. Not good. Went to use Firefox as default and Windows 10 will not let me set Firefox as default browser. I was given only two options, one Edge and the other Chrome. I uninstalled Chrome and now I have only one option Edge. I downloaded Firefox to make sure i had the latest version, still not able to set Firebox as default. Help PLease. What is a workaround

I don't know if it was on this particular forum that I previously posted, but I did post a question yesterday about why the app icons no longer appeared on my toolbar, and how I could restore them. Someone from Firefox responded, but he didn't provide an answer for me.....at least not immediately. In the meantime I contacted the support team for one of the apps (Bitwarden, to be specific), and they were able to provide the solution. I informed the Firefox person who contacted me that a solution had been found, and he asked me to post that solution here, since I was not the only one posting such a question yesterday. If your app icons disappear from your browser toolbar, then the solution is to create a new profile for your Firefox account, because the old one has apparently been corrupted. As soon as I created that new profile, all my previous app icons immediately appeared on the browser toolbar, with no further actions required by me. I hope this information will help some of you. It is possible, I guess, that other browser problems incurred might also be resolved by creating a new profile.

I lost my Firefox password. I was changing it by generating one and copying it to Lastpass, but Lastpass failed to create an entry for Firefox. The link to reset a lost password asks for a recovery key, which I also don't have. I do have a block of Firefox recovery codes, but they are not accepted for a change of password. Is there any way for me to change my password?

Thanks, Byron

Today, I somewhat accidentally accessed a part of FireFox that I suspect is off limits to non-members.

STEPS

  1. I pressed and held cmd-option keys then hit the i key.
  2. Tapped the Network tab
  3. Refreshed the page
  4. These messages came up. I am not sure, but I suspect these links are off limits to non-members (to see the image I made , you have to click the link).

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2020-06-27-12-42-27-182be0.png

5. clicked the link indicated which exposed the following restricted information. I suspect it is some form of computer code.

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2020-06-27-12-44-37-c81e72.png

6. When this material appeared, I immediately unplugged my computer, to avoid detection by the authorities.

I repeated the steps, but took a few seconds to capture screen images so I could post them here.

I understand security practices might dictate that you share no knowledge on this topic, but if you can safely and legally explain in terms my child would understand, what I found hiding on my computer, I would be much obliged.

Hi, when I type the body of a URL in the search bar without the .com suffix (i.e. "gmail"), Firefox no longer guesses my intent and takes me to the site.

Now weird things happen, either it doesn't go anywhere just spins, or takes me to my default search engine, or takes me to my ISP's search page.

Seems like that feature used to work.

Thanks

Hi,

I am developing a WYSIWYG site through Adobe Portfolio. When viewed in the editor, image elements are in the correct position.

However, when viewed in FF, they are a long way out of position. In Chrome and Edge, they are much better, but still out by a small amount.

Please see attached screen dumps.

Any ideas? I suspect it is a combination of coding generated by the editor and the way FF interprets the code.

Regards,

Steve

Every time I restart my computer I get logged out of my Firefox account. This does not happen when I close the browser only when I shutdown or restart my computer. I have tried removing add-ons and also making sure the browser remembers cookies when it closes. Is there a way so Firefox won't log me out and have to sign into sync after a computer restart?

While logging into some sites (not all), using saved credentials and the default password manager, Firefox will offer to update the login information.

The information (the password field) really does change so the prompt is correct but, it's not clear how the change occurred. For example, my password for a website is "password". When I open the login form, Firefox will fill it with saved/correct credentials. After the form is sent/login performed, Firefox will offer to update the credentials. Revealing the password field in the prompt shows that the password is now a 500+ characters hash or something, looking like this:

I'm using Firefox 77.0.1 (64-bit).

All of a sudden, starting yesterday, google maps started turning black, with no map visible. The map shows up when the page is loading, but then disappears upon full load.

Maps works find in Google Chrome.

I have looked online for solutions and already done the following:

-turned off all extensions -updated graphics card and monitor drivers -deleted all cookies and browsing data -turned off hardware acceleration

Nothing has worked!

Can anyone help me with this? Or is this a bad Firefox update?

thank you!

I am using Firefox version 77.0.1 (64 bit), which I assume I was upgraded to automatically this week. Whether that happened this week or not, as of two days ago, the icons that previously appeared for my password protector (Bitwarden) and my ad blocker (AdBLock) no longer appear in my browser toolbar. I can find no way to restore them, nor can I find a way to use "Customize" to add them to my toolbar menu. Has something changed? Am I missing something? Do I need to go back to the previous version of Firefox?
