I developed a web site with a protected download area (using .htpasswd) containing many pdf documents and download exe files.

The website works correctly with all Microsoft browsers as well as Chrome and Opera.

It also works correctly with Firefox the first time you open or download a file in a session. On subsequent attempts to read or download a file, I get and error of the form "C:\Users\tom\AppData\Local\Temp\0tdBH5YZ.pdf.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read."

If you shutdown firefox completely and re-login to the website, it again works one time.

I use a very simple php script to support the download where the relevant function is:

function Download($file) { $rtn = FALSE; if (file_exists($file)) { $rtn = TRUE; $size = filesize($file); $type = filetype($file); header('Content-Description: File Transfer'); header('Content-Type: application/octet-stream'); header('Content-Type: '.$type); header('Content-Length: '.$size); header('Content_Transfer-Encoding: Binary'); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename='.basename($file)); header('Expires: 0'); header('Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate'); header('Pragma: public'); ob_clean(); flush();

$lr = readfile($file); if ($lr == FALSE or $lr != $size) { echo "error in readfile
"; $rtn = FALSE; } } return $rtn; }

Hi there, While working on a sound effects site, I somehow downloaded malware to my Mac. Now, every time I do a google search (in the address bar, and also in the google search bar, which I've since just removed), the google search results no longer come up. Instead, I'm redirected to a search engine called: http://search.primeinfospot.com/?tp1=dbc19016-3c27-4231-bf81-d50a9c367fda&kw=sarch

Going through my search history when this happened, it seems it came out of this "Browser Update" (here's the start of the site, removing all the gobbly gook that followed it but maybe but don't click on it to be safe?)

https://www.logicalplatforms.com/

I've tried simply adjusting my firefox settings. restoring default but firefox seems to think this is my default. any ideas on how to remove this and insure it's not doing other bad things to my comptuer? thanks!

I tried to migrate my profile and data for my firefox on an iMAC to my new windows laptop. NONE of my passwords and user names have worked after the last few upgrades forced by Mozilla on my desktop. So i was able to update my support password on Mozilla, but when I was going to reset my password on my desktop to try to set up a sync to my laptop I got a message that I would lose all of my settings, bookmarks and preferences. That is a very bad way to do password upgrades. So, today, I really need to move all of my profiles, bookmarks etc to my laptop, but can't get sync to work at all, without the threat of loosing over 10 years of work. Some of your features are very draconian and difficult to manage. Add to that, the only support is by reading through years of comments, most of which do not work. So what is a user to do??????

This is probably something to do with how mail.com handles this but it works fine in Edge.

I tried disabling hardware acceleration and using Firefox safe mode, but it's still a problem. Firefox is up-to-date.

After several updates to Firefox, and after importing old bookmarks after replacing a drive, I now have a problem organizing my bookmarks. When I open the "show your bookmarks" tab, I see my long time collection of bookmarks in a folder named "imported", there are now TWO other folders marked "Other bookmarks" and now when I bookmark a site it is being stored in a "Library" folder.

  I need to know how I can organize all these bookmarks into a single bookmarks folder so that I can organize them properly, eliminate unnecessary folders, and once again CHOOSE which folder I want to store them in! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Using Windows 7 ultimate, 64-bit
