Running into a strange problem. While setting up some email accounts, one laptop accepts the settings, the other doesn't.

Both computers run Windows 10 Pro, version 1703, build 15063.726 Both computers run Thunderbird 52.5.0 (32-bits)

I also tried it with and without the Firewall activated. And with Thunderbird allowed through Windows FIrewall.

I even checked every setting in Thunderbird to make sure there were no differences. Including the config editor.

Manually changing the settings from ports 25 and 143 to 993 and 465 did not work. I don't have too much trust in the provider for this domain (which I cannot change at this time) as their technical support suggested to use ports 25 and 143.

All suggestions are welcome to get this working with above OS and mail client.

As far as I can determine, the newer MSN mail/explorer no longer has an export option. The only thing you can do is print the list, and I did so to a PDF file, but first wasted a LOT of printer paper. As near as I can tell, the file format is a bit hard to convert to just a CSV file, other than by hand, which would take a very long time. I started doing it on Excel but it would take a very, very long time. So, I'd even be willing to pay for a service/program that would be able to generate a CSV file in Thunderbird format. I'd appreciate any help or ideas. Please note that MSN has changed; anything that you google or so far in Thunderbird help, will not work as there is no longer an export function. I'd be thrilled to know I missed something! Sheila

I know there are instructions on how to copy certain folders from the old computer to the new one, but I have a slightly different question. I removed the hard drive from the old computer and have it in a case where I can now attach the old drive via a USB connection, to the new computer. If I were to copy the entire C: partition from the old computer to the new one, would that take care of getting all the Thunderbird folders where they need to be on the new computer? I pretty much need to do this anyway for all my other non-Thunderbird folders.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not being able to completely rebuild what I had in Outlook is a deal-breaker, so if this can't be done, someone please tell me now!!!

Transfer from Outlook to TB works fine and I see all messages. Then I copy the Outlook Import.sbd file to flash drive and drag to the desktop on my MAC. It imports into Apple mail and the folders show but I can't see any messages. Checking in Finder the file contains over 2 GB of data but apparently the format is still off. I have tried several times to no avail!

For many years I have had an email account with Great Basin Internet Services in Reno, Nevada (I used to live in Reno). For the last 15 or so years I have used Thunderbird on my computer to retrieve my emails from GBIS to read on my computer, store, forward, etc. On Tuesday 12/19/2023 around 10 A.M. I stopped receiving my emails on my computer and also on my smartphone (Galaxy S 8). I spoke to the GBIS tech people and they say that my account is working fine on their end so they suggested contacting Thunderbird to see what changed that might be causing my emails to not download properly from the GBIS account. So I am looking for some direction as to what may have been changed to stop the emails from coming to Thunderbird. Obviously I can't receive any emails right now. You can text me however. I'm a complete Thunderbird newbie, so maybe I'm overlooking something obvious. I successfully installed Thunderbird 45.5.1 for Linux on my PC running Puppy Linux. All folders imported and I can send and receive emails normally.

But there is nothing in my address book so apparently my contacts did not transfer. Do I need to manually import them from my Hotmail.com (Outlook.com) account?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

I signed up, donated, installed All of the outlook folder I have (about 200) are missing How do I get those to populate? I only see the very basic ones: inbox, sent, trash, snoozed

If you do not download the folders, how do I remove the permission I gave for you to access my email. I want to cancel if you do not import all of my existing folders and their contents.

Thanks.

I have a large number of subfolders in my @gmail.com/All Mail. Using version 102 and all previous versions for many years with few problems. I have tried to update to SuperNova a couple of times. It takes my All Mail folder and divides it into two identical 'Archives/@gmail.com/All Mail' folders and half of my subfolders are in one of them and the others are in the second one. There is no rhyme or reason as to which ones it decides to seperate as far as I can tell. It makes it time consuming and inconvenient to find what i want, especially as it now runs off the page despite choosing Compact view. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?
