I am a web developer, and i am using Iceweasel 31.7.0 (which is based of Firefox) under Linux Debian wheezy.

A problem appears when i am writing a javascript code. My goal is to determine a size of screen (i am using typical pc, not any mobile device). So i am writing:

var body = window.document.body.style

// block to determine width body.height = '1px' for ( var i = 0; ; i++ ) {

  body.width = i + 'px'

window.document.documentElement.scrollLeft = 1

  if ( window.document.documentElement.scrollLeft != 0 )

break } i--

// block to determine height body.width = '1px' for ( var k = 0; ; k++ ) {

  body.height = k + 'px'

window.document.documentElement.scrollTop = 1

  if ( window.document.documentElement.scrollTop != 0 )

break } k--

body.width = ( i ) + 'px' body.height = ( k ) + 'px'

So after this code both scroll line appears! When it should not be because i an k variables are choosen maximum without scroll. And, moreover, an error disappears (both scroll lines disappears) when two blocks switched by place each other (first determine height, then width).

I'll appreciate at least confirmation that it is an error, even if you cannot provide a patch for Iceweasel. Thank you.

We are using non-persistent desktops for a portion of our users and their primary web browser is Firefox, so I have attempted to customize their experience using the mozilla.cfg file which I have created. This mostly works however the very first time it opens the bookmarks I have added to the bookmarks bar fail to load. If they close firefox and re-open they come right up. Unfortunately every time they log into their virtual workstation they have top go through this process since the machine is non-persistent. The code I have used to add the bookmarks is as follows:

try {
var ios = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/network/io-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIIOService);
var uri = ios.newURI("https://localhost:61000", null, null);
var navBookmarksService = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-bookmarks-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsINavBookmarksService);
if (!navBookmarksService.isBookmarked(uri)) {
navBookmarksService.insertBookmark(navBookmarksService.toolbarFolder, uri, navBookmarksService.DEFAULT_INDEX, "Add X");
}
} catch(e) {displayError("firefox.cfg", e);}

Like I said, it works, I just need it to work the first time, not the second.

Any ideas?

I am a web developer working in PHP, Yii, and jquery on an Oracle VM VirtualBox . So I was building a script that was meant to run an upload to an ftp server. Prior to designing the script to do the upload, I had it downloading the finished file(XML) to my browser. Once the script was ready to begin the FTP upload, I changed the code to do so. I ran a test and everything went fine. At that point, I stopped working on the code to wait for a response on the test FTP file. So I began to work on a separate project when I noticed the log I had up just triggered another FTP upload. I wasn't in the application at the time. Thinking it was me, I reset the browser and apache to be safe. I continued working on my separate project, when again, the FTP was triggered(projects were not even remotely related, and were in different db's). At the end of the day, there were a couple random triggers of the script(thankfully we were uploading to a test ftp server). So I reboot the computer before I left for the day. Come back after the weekend and it is still occurring. Finally I noticed, while tracking the log, that it went off when I opened a new tab in FireFox. I tried 2 more times just to confirm that was the trigger. Cleared browser cache/history and it stopped. It was as if the new tab was attempting to trigger the previous URL when opening. Has anyone ever seen this happen before and is there a way to prevent it? The new tabs in my browser are set to the default blank Firefox page. Addons include Greasemonkey, firebug, xdebug, and Web Developer. Code has no javascript, jquery, or ajax(other than what Yii may automatically include).

This I believe is a very specific problem not caused by anything on the web browser or the website itself but likely a result of clashing security protocols between the two. I use GoDaddy Website Builder to edit and build my business website and for some reason, changes made to the text within the website do not save (Editing Pictures and Titles does work however) and when I edit text in other browsers (IE or Chrome), it works just fine. I'd love to keep using FireFox (its faster and and in my personal opinion more secure) but I can't if the changes I make will not appear on the website. Any ideas why this might be happening?

I see others noting this problem beginning in March 2015, but no solutions.

Just updated to 39.0, still the problem.

No word wrap within a text posting box on a website, instead the sentence just continues scrolling horizontally.

Apparently Firefox began doing this with 36.0.1.

Was hoping it would be fixed in the newest version, but no.

A search found this post with an illustration of the problem, in case anything is unclear:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/help-desk-site-news-site-problems/676425-word-wrap-text-entry-boxes-not.html

How could this not have been fixed between March and July?

How do I get word wrap within a text box?

Thanks.

Open an excel document, copy a table, say a 2*3 table holding 1, 2, 3; 4, 5, 6. Go to the http://jsfiddle.net/ThinkingStiff/AbKTQ/. Paste the content into the text field which contains "I look like a textarea". Press F12 and then check the html of that control, you will see the content in the attached image: Under the div, there is no table element but only the colgroup and tbody which are sub elements of the table.

Since table contains the format information, it should be available after paste operation. Both IE and Chrome can handle this correctly. Hope Firefox can do the same.

Both 38 and 39 have the same problem.

I manage a website (melissachappell.com), which has pdf articles in an iframe on the html page. After the latest update (on 07/08/2015) PDF's are now downloading to my downloads folder instead of opening on the page as intended. I don't like this because 1) it clogs up my downloads folder and 2) the page looks weird now because the iframe is blank. Is there any way to change this to have the PDF open on the page instead (as it did before)?

I would like to silently install Firefox to a lab full of computers, and I want to provide a pinned tab for everyone by default. I can't find anything in the Registry, so I assume this info is saved in the Profile folder, but I have not been able to grok where and in what format the data would be stored. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @LL,

I am a webdesigner and my work is to realize a webbased processcontrolling system in my company. I started programming my sites for Chrome, based on the android tablets i will use in future. Today we are working with 2 Android tablets but about 40 more are following. For processplaning we have another tool which based on firefox, programmed a few year earlier. Now we get some handlingproblems with handling 2 browsers in our company, so i decided to change my site for firefox.

My problem is now, that firefox is the only browser which means to put all my tablecells in one cell. That sounds crazy. Other browsers dont do that. They showing all correctly. I have to say, that firefox just drops tablecells together which i am using for show a progressview. In this cells iam showing a value in percent with a percent based backgroundcolor. This cell get the color over a special id. The rest happens in CSS.

My table is correct, i am starting and ending the table, all rows and all cells with the right tags.

any ideas? i realy have to figure that out !!!

Here is the CSS for my table and below the css for my cellbased color: (just one color, the rest ids for the color formating are the same)

.CSSTableGenerator { margin-left:10px; margin-top:-10px; padding:0px; width:99%; height:93.0%; overflow-y:scroll; } .CSSTableGenerator thead{ width:970px;

       line-height:30px;

} .CSSTableGenerator table{

       border-collapse: collapse;
       border-spacing: 0;

width:100%; height:auto; margin:0px;padding:0px; /*line-height: 30px;*/ } .CSSTableGenerator tr:nth-child(odd){ background-color:#cccccc; } .CSSTableGenerator tr:nth-child(even) { background-color:#e2e2e2; } .CSSTableGenerator td{vertical-align:middle; border:1px solid #ffffff; border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; text-align:center; padding:5px;

   empty-cells: show;

font-size:12px; font-family:Arial; font-weight:bold; color:#000000; line-height:30px; }.CSSTableGenerator tr:last-child td{ border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; }.CSSTableGenerator tr td:last-child{ border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; }.CSSTableGenerator tr:last-child td:last-child{ border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; } .CSSTableGenerator tr:first-child th{ background-color:#3366ff; border:1px solid #ffffff; text-align:center; border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; font-size:16px; font-family:Arial; font-weight:bold; color:#ffffff; } .CSSTableGenerator tr:first-child th:first-child{ border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; } .CSSTableGenerator tr:first-child th:last-child{

border-width:1px 1px 1px 1px; } .CSSTableGenerator2 { margin-left:10px; margin-top:+5px; padding:0px; width:97.5%;

   height:auto;

max-height:77.5%;

overflow-x:hidden;

   overflow-y:auto;
   line-height: 30px;

}

cellbased color CSS:

  1. progress-level4 {
  background-color: #EEE713;
  background-size: 100% 100%;
  border-radius: 20px 0px 0px 20px; /* change me */
  box-shadow: 0 2px 9px rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.3) inset, 0 -2px 6px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4) inset;
  display: block;
  height: 100%;
  overflow: hidden;
  position: relative;

}

sorry for that bad transformation of CSS, but that happens just in this view, if i am trying to edit this question all looks nice...

Hi. This is my first question here and a weird one too. So please bear with me.

My company has many individual servers, all running the same Java program with same environment. We have a download button to download some data. However, the download link "DOES NOT POINT DIRECTLY TO THE FILE LOCATION". Instead we take the request, process it, write the data to a file in server, then read that file to the requesting browser.

In ONE of our servers, after our firefox upgraded, we are experiencing the issue that the download is not happening anymore for versions >=39. Previous versions are able to download the file correctly. Same behavior is seen in IE-11.

What's more confusing is that other servers are behaving normally even with firefox 39 and beyond. Only with this one server I am getting this issue.

Based on FF39 changelogs, can this bug-fix have some role to play in the observed behavior ? "Fix incomplete downloads being marked as complete by detecting broken HTTP1.1 transfers"

Attached are 3 images: Image 1: When download clicked, received the popup immediately though expecting some delay because of data processing. This possibly indicates that FF39 is not receiving any data from the server.

Image 2: When FF39 is not able to download the file it gives the warning shown.

Image 3: Trying to re-download the file using download manager downloads the underlying XHTML file instead which is EXPECTED BEHAVIOR because download is not a direct link to the file as mentioned before.

PS: I understand I am not giving enough information because I don't know how to reproduce this issue. Any pointer in some direction is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
