WebRTC is a topic of endless tracking and location sharing to me. I have always dissabled this on Firefox (I do not do video chatting of any type, it's useless to me). This is why I have not yet switched to Brave, but also have trust issues with them. I use a DNS changer/adblocker that gives a list of blocked and allowed domains... some sketchy ones pop up while surfing with them. Plus it's repeted cycle of clearing my own data gets old. Trying to figure Preview out, can not seem to add search engines directly either. Had to pull up Startpage, configure it's settings, then added the URL to my home screen. Maybe do to the fact I don't use google search?

Adding New Filetypes to Download List

I am following directions on this page, which is supposed to be applicable to my version Firefox 78.0.1 on my Windows 10 Pro 64 system:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file#w_adding-download-actions

But when I come to the subheading, "Adding Download Actions", it shows a dialog window which is unlike the one I get. Of the two images I've attached, the article shows the larger while I am offered the smaller. The article says the "Do this automatically" checkbox may be disabled, but doesn't mention it being absent: "Is Do this automatically for files like this from now on disabled? This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the file. Could be the case here. Whether it is or not isn't important. What is important, is adding filetypes. I have no qualms with editing the registry if necessary. Can someone help me out with this?

I clicked on an mp3 link that I wanted to download. A dialog box popped up that asked if I wanted to handle mp3s with Google Play Music. I decided to try it, but accidentally told it to ALWAYS open with GPM. I have looked everywhere for how to get Firefox on Android to ask me or just download the file.

When I now hit "file" then "mail to" gmail demands (https://www.google.com/gmail/about/) that I open an account instead of my usual Outlook being used. Historically, I have used a gmail account for other business and both have remained separate programs. I want to return to using Outlook as my default program. It is still listed and chosen by me to be my default app but it is not working that way. Thanks for any and all help.

In Firefox, I click on settings/General settings and I see the Default Browser box. It is checked , HOWEVER the whole area is slightly blurred and I cannot uncheck the box. Not that I want to, but the system has taken over and will not allow me to uncheck it. At the same time this happened, Microsoft EDGE is starting to come up at various places when another app launches my web browser. Hewlett Packard is a good example. So, I tried to completely uninstall edge, with no luck. THAT uninstall box is also slightly blurred or faded, same as the Firefox default browser is. It is like Windows 10 is trying to take over my system completely. I hope you have had experience with this since they are now messing with your controls and your settings! Please help.

I just upgraded to version 96 (using Windows 10) and for some odd reason, the background of Youtube is now a dark gray or black. I want to get back to the normal white background. I tried changing with Fonts and Colors in settings, according to another user's complaint, but that didn't help. So tell me how to change it. Or tell me how to revert to the version before this. And how to not upgrade in the future if this kind of nonsense continues. I read some of the reasons why, but still, Mozilla should let users change things how they want it, not the techies.

I was trying to place a dashed line between the email rows by placing

  1. threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-row {

border-bottom: 2px dashed #ccc!important; }

in userChrome.css and put it in the 'chrome' folder in the profile folder and it is not working. When I first went to the profile folder the 'chrome' folder did not exist so I created it and then saved the above code in userChrome.css and then started Thunderbird and didn't see the lines between the emails as I was expecting. Should 'chrome' folder have existed when Thunderbird was installed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The screenshot/snipping tool was a great addition to Firefox and I use it regularly. However I'm writing a tutorial on Google Maps at the moment and it would be nice if I had the option to select the same region of screen each time as I invoke some of Google Map's tools. So ideally I could lock the selection rectangle position and also its dimensions as I snapshot each page to show the steps involved in using Map's tool. Preset aspect ratios for the selection rectangle would be useful also. Maybe it's possible to do all this already?

I have been having difficulties with Thunderbird account definitions for 6 months. I didn't recognize it as a definitions problem because I hadn't made any Thunderbird changes. I finally have all but 1 of my 5 email accounts working... but, my now-working Gmail account has a lot of extraneous folders (like multiple trash bins, etc; see attached).

Gmail shows 2 lists of incoming email: "Inbox" and "All mail". The "Inbox" folder is incomplete, most recent email shown is from last August; the "All Mail" folder appears to contain a complete list of emails for the Gmail account.

Can I get rid of all the extraneous folders? How?
