I use Calendly.com for scheduling my meetings. I'll receive a meeting confirmation email when someone books, and linked from that email is an .ics file I can import to Thunderbird calendar. This all works fine except that meetings imported don't respect the default reminder setting. No reminder is set at all for these meetings - I have to edit each event manually to append the reminder to match what I have saved in the Reminder Defaults section of Settings (15 mins).

Meetings added to my calendar in other ways (i.e. an invitation direct to my inbox) respect and apply the 15min default. This places the blame on Calendly so I looked at the .ics files I'm getting from there and find no TRIGGER reference at all. I imported an unrelated sample .ics file with the TRIGGER explicitly defined and this works, but in the absence of a TRIGGER reference in the Calendly files, my expectation is that the default reminder time would be applied.

Any advice on what may be happening?

Thanks

Running Thunderbird 115.6.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10. I can add an EVENT to any of my 5 calendars in the dropdown. But when I try to add a TASK, only 4 calendars are offered. Naturally, it's the missing calendar (xxx@gmail.com) I need!

Suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

I just downloaded Thunderbird for the first time because I have several emails and want to manage them all in one place. The calendar is great and brought my google calendars right over, but my wife and I share our calendars with each other and hers isn't showing up on here, like it did on google. Is there a way to import her shared calendar into mine in Thunderbird?

I use 3 calendars:

  • 666jjv this is my personal and Google calendar
  • Holidays in France
  • Holidays in Belgium;

Obviously, when I want to add an event, it is in the first one. For some reason, when I create an event, the clandar "holdays in France" is presented and I have not to forget to change it 666jjv.

Is there a way to have 666jjc as first and even unique choice?

Problem: I'm 76 years old and technically self-taught. I have 2 Windows 11 computers. One desktop and one laptop. Both are fully updated and utilizing Office software, specifically Outlook. Not too long ago I happily discovered Thunderbird and like it soooo much better. QUESTION: Within Outlook, my calendar is displayed as iCloud Calendar which is ok for me. The one thing that is keeping me from exclusively using Thunderbird is not being able to import my iCoud calendar into Thunderbird. Is that even possible and if so, how? Please keep your response as simplistic as possible. Thank you for your time and consideration given to my inquiry.

I am using older Thunderbird 102.x due to newer version having an issue. The Search tab contains "Find Events" input area, where i can search all Events, but not Tasks. Which is weird and wrong IMO. I always assumed that it search everything in calendar. So how do i search also Tasks or how to convert all to events?

From the beginning i was not told the difference between the Events and Tasks, it is not enough intuitive for me to differentiate the two. https://superuser.com/questions/1321548/thunderbird-add-on-lightning-what-is-the-difference-between-event-and-task

Task: e.g. on startup, Cardbook checks upcoming anniversaries (e.g. birthdays) from Cardbook Calendars, and writes them to the selected calendar.

Expected: write anniversary to the correct day

Observed: all upcomimng anniversaries are written in the selected format (%n$S syntax, works nicely) to the correct calendar, but always ONE DAY TOO LATE. E.g., if birthday of Cardbook contact is displayed as "26-Feb-2024" in Cardbook, it writes "27-Feb-2024" to calendar (selected "whole day event", so it cannot(?) be b/o time zone problems?)

System: Windows 10. TB 115.5.2 (32-bit). Cardbook 92.1, Last Updated 11. Dezember 2023.

In setting up a new phone, using BirdieSync to synchronize Thunderbird Calendar with the phone, Calendar ended up with duplicate events, but only those that had originally be setup using the "Repeat" button in the "New Event" window. (Ex. a class that meets the same time, same day, each week.)

I cannot find any way to locate and batch delete the duplicates. This seems like it should be basic functionality for a digital calendar. Is it really missing from Thunderbird or am I missing some obscurely located "Delete Duplicates" menu item?

This is probably not the best place to ask. But I would like to know how thunderbird parses icalendars. Is there is place I can see this file?

I am working on a project that uses [https://sabre.io/baikal/] Baikal

You can do a call that gets the icalendar properties but I am having trouble finding a library that can handle this. I have looked into two:

This is probably old but kind of works, however fails with malformed bad ics calendar properties link text

This one looks a little more complicated, and I think this is from some folks at thunderbird working the calendar from what I read. however fails with malformed bad ics calendar properties link text

What I do not get, is that the same ics for instance I am testing that is malformed, Thunderbird reads it like a champ and it is in my calendar. But when I try it in my own APP project, I can't get these front end libs to read it properly.

anyways, if anyone has some info on how the folks at thunderbird parse shared calendars I would love to read up on that lead.

Thanks! happy holidays!

I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but pretty recently, my calendar started showing 6 weeks (in 6 rows) instead of less (I think it was 4).

How do I show less weeks at once (so more of each day's pane is bigger and shows more of itself), like it used to be?

I have Thunderbird for Mac v 115.6.0

Thanks, Ted

Would it kill ya to add a simple link to Google Maps (or even other map sites), if a calendar event contains an address? I use the Calendar a lot and make sure that I have addresses associated with events. This allows Google and Android Auto to pop up a notification asking me if I'm going to XYZ event. I then tap Navigate and off I go. But sometimes when I'm on my desktop I look at a calendar event and wonder where exactly I'm going to be driving to and I have to open the event and copy and paste the address into a browser set on Google Maps. It'd be way more convenient to just tap a link on the TB event notification or maybe in the right-click menu of the event on the Calendar or alongside of the address in the event details.

Been wondering about this for years and finally got around to submitting the request here.

I installed the beta version of Thunderbird without realizing it's incredibly difficult to switch back to stable, so I'm stuck with beta. In beta, can someone explain the reasoning to me behind why calendar shows a view-only window when double clicking an event title instead of going directly to the editing window? It was so much easier to edit events before:

double click the title > start editing

Now, in beta, both ways to edit an event require extra steps:

right click title > click edit > scale the window larger > start editing or

double click title > scale the window larger > click edit > scale the window larger again > start editing.

It doesn't make any sense. I can't think of any reason for having two separate window states for an event - you don't need a display view and an edit view, because they both display the same information. Just have it open directly into the edit view like it used to.

I made a video to attach but it doesn't allow videos. Let me know if I can provide something else instead.

Thunderbird 115.6.0 (64-Bit) is no longer syncing with Google Calendar.

I do not know since when, but recently added dates in Google Calendar are not show in Thunderbird calendar and vice versa.

I've tried to setup new connection between Thunderbird and Google, this seems to work, because I got question on smartphone (authenticator app) to allow new connection. But the dates are still not synced. Even forcing sync does not do anything. Same things happens on two Windows 10 64bit computers, but also on Linux Mint. Any advice? Thanks.

Specific 'Calendar' topic, but could also be considered to be about updating (improving) the Thunderbird controls/options/addons.

Is this a Feature Request, per say? If so, is it in the right place here? If not, where to put this?

Platform: Windows 10. Issue: Thunderbird (Lightning/Calendar) keeps aggressively stealing focus, i.e. putting the Reminder window on top of whatever else I am doing. This is incredibly annoying and unproductive. The only option is to completely disable Reminders, which defeats the purpose of course. See also, for example, https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/185c727/how_can_i_prevent_the_reminders_window_from/. Requirement: I would like to still hear the Reminder sound, and it would be great if the application also 'gets highlighted' (in orange) on the Taskbar (like many applications that have something new going on, but do not immediately push themselves to the foreground) to get a visual Notification, as well.

In any case, this overly dominant behaviour of the application should NOT persist.
