Hi,Please assist I have had Thunder Bird set up on My Desktop Computer for in excess of 15 Years,I purchased a new Laptop(both Computers are Windows 10) I Download how to Transfer the Data from one Computer to the other & Followed the Instructions to the Letter BUT Before this,I Downloaded Thunderbird on my new Laptop ( I have 3 email addresses) & I went through the Settings & now each email address has its own INBOX & Trash On my Desktop,it does not show each Email Address &

Now it has a silly drop down which stays on black whatever you do. Why do developers mess up things that have functioned the same way for years successfully?

I like to open all urls and links in a new tab because then I don't loose the original tab's contents. So I have set browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to true. Alas if I click on a link in the history library it still replaces the actual tab. I know that I can do a middle click or a right click to get a new tab but I would appreciate if I could set the standard behavior to open a new tab. Is there a setting for this?

Hi there!

I have been having trouble with Firefox continuing to autoplay videos even with preferences set to "Block Audio and Video."

If I go to twitter.com or elsewhere Firefox will show that auto play is disabled, but videos will autoplay with no audio. I would just like to get this feature working as autoplaying videos are incredibly annoying!

Provider for Google Calendar - 68.2.1 Thunderbird & Lightning - 68.4.1 Windows 10 Home 1909 (18363.592)

Almost all of the commands dealing with the calendar in Thunderbird are grayed out. My Google and other calendars no longer show up as an entry in the list of calendars. Individual calendar entries appear on calendar tab with existing info but are read only. I can not open/edit an individual calendar entry or create a new one.

I used to be able to recover from this situation by closing the calendar in Thunderbird and then closing Thunderbird. Create new event or edit an existing event by logging into Google Calendar directly. Logoff Google Calendar and then logon to Thunderbird and either open the Today Pane or the Calendar tab.

I have reported the problem on the forum for the Provider and been told that my problem looks like it has to do with Thunderbird and Lightning. I have tried several of the suggestions on this forum but they have not resolved the problem. The best result was with Safe Mode & Add-ons Disabled which lasted for just one application restart after doing that. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been using Firefox for years but this morning it stopped working. the little firefox button just kept moving left-right and never found the page. Eventually I gave up and uninstalled firefox but when I tried to reinstall it, it states that firefox was previously installed and allows me to reinstall. when I do that it always gives an error message that it was unsuccessful.

I cannot access Mozilla via Firefox - issue arose when trying to access add-ons yesterday (25 Jan 2020). Firefox displays the following: "Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to addons.mozilla.org. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem."

In order to post this, I have had to access the site via Chromium, which also noted a secure connection error. I have used a VPN add-on to secure the connection and access the site.

I assume this is an issue on the Mozilla server with an expired certificate?

Firefox used to allow a hack to add a custom search engine to the search engine list. This allowed users to make custom engines the DEFAULT search engine. (Engines can be added to Bookmarks but then they require a keyword to activate. Default engines do not require a keyword to activate).

The way to do it was: 1) place a folder called "searchplugins" with your custom .xml file describing your search engine (i.e.,, a URL with a %s added to it) inside your Home folder on a Linux OS.

2) open the Web Console

3) input: Services.search.addEngine("file:///home/user/searchplugins/custom-engine.xml", null, null, false);

4) now your custom search engine would appear in the search engine listing in Firefox and could be made default

On recent Firefoxes, this no longer works. When I inter the Sevices.search.addEngine part to the Web Console, I get this message: "ReferenceError: Services is not define"

I've been using Google Chrome because of stuff like this. Firefox just doesn't allow me to do what I want to do. But I appreciate Mozilla ideals and am trying to give Firefox another chance. But it is contingent on being able to make my custom search engine the default search engine.

Is there a fix for this error I'm encountering in the Web Console?

When composing an email in Thunderbird, I am no longer able to easily change the text color, whether it be selecting the color first and then typing, or selecting the text and then choosing a color. Pulling up Apple’s Color Picker and choosing a color was all I had to do previously. Now it is not working. Here is what does and does not work:

Thunderbird > Toolbar > Formatting Bar > Choose color for text > Choose a color > I select a color and the ‘Choose a color’ bar turns that color, but no other color box changes to that color, nor does my selected text in the email. (This method does not work.)

Thunderbird > Toolbar > Formatting Bar > Choose color for text > Last-picked color > does work

Thunderbird > Toolbar > Formatting Bar > Choose color for text > Enter an HTML color string (e.g.: “0000ff” or “blue”) > does work

Thunderbird > Toolbar > Formatting Bar > Font, Bold, Italics, Underline, Larger, Smaller, etc. > does work

As an example, I composed an email to myself. I have attached a screenshot. I also attached a screenshot of that email’s source code.

Using the latest version of Thunderbird (68.4.2) on Windows 10 (Version 1903). I have tried deleting the password and re-entering the the one that still works accessing GMail on the web (Using Firefox) as well as creating a new one. Nothing works

Other info: The error message that I get on Thunderbird says "Sending of password for user ........ did not succeed. Mail server pop gmail.com responded: Username and password not accepted"

When I click "OK" I get "Login to server Popgmail.com with username' ........ failed." With 3 choices: Retry, Enter new password, Cancel. I've tried each and, of course, none works.

Starting with 68.4.2 I've been seeing this weird behavior for received messages. For some messages the content is not displayed when I try to read the message - the reading pane body portion is blank. If I "Reply To Sender" then the message content appears so obviously it's not a case of Thunderbird not being able to interpret the message. Also if I save the message as an eml it saves correctly. So why can't Thunderbird display it on reading, but it display ok on "Reply To Sender"? My font settings are attached.

I have 4 accounts set up in Thunderbird, no issues (2 pure gmail, 1 Google gsuite account (the problem account), and 1 hotmail). I am trying to set up the gsuite email account that I was assigned that uses the Google gsuite. This works in Windows 10, but in this email client on Linux Mint, the authentication options do not include oauth2.

Any thoughts?

"Hide and Show: Assume you use your browser for both Work and Personal tasks. When you come home at the end of the day, you don’t want to be thinking about “Work” anymore, but your browser is full of Work tabs. You can “Hide” your Work tabs and proceed with your Personal tasks. Then the next day, when you are back at work, you can “Hide” your Personal tabs and “Show” your Work tabs."

On an aside, I'm also getting pretty confused between collections (mobile), containers (desktop), sessions, tab groups, etc... they all seem to have overlapping but different functionality.

I can receive Yahoo but not Gmail

All help from Thunderbird says it is a Gmail problem Help from Google/Gmail say it is Microsoft problem Microsoft say it is TB problem.

I must congratulate you all on agreeing about 2 things. 1. It is somebody else's problem 2. Refer to a help link that does not match Thunderbird 3. Simply ignore requests for help 4. Expect all users to have an honours degree in computing
