I used to use most of your products, but I had to stop a few years ago. Windows crashed so often and the restoration of my thunderbird was just too cludgy and time consuming. I had some time and I decided to try thunderbird again recently. The first time my windows crashed I seem to have lost all my emails going back some 20 years, despite have done a few backups according to the mozilla instructions.

I tried to restore but the online information is very confusing. One lot info says to use profile manager, another says that you need to do it via file manager. A supposed Mozilla agent says online that he uses a different process of copying the original folder and then reinstating it after the crash. I tried that and it did not work. I suspect that there are probably several folders from a couple of locations that need to be copied for that to work.

Thunderbird has been around for a long time now and it seems that this area has been overlooked in development. I do understand that a computer expert would know what to do in his sleep, but I am not an expert even though I do know a lot about them.

I respectfully am trying to encourage the thunderbird team to improve this whole process. I do believe that it should not be too hard, either from within thunderbird or from an external application. Anything has got to be better than what exists currently. It is possible that I just cannot see the logic about the thunderbirds team on leaving it the way that it is. If this is so would someone be kind enough to enlighten me.

I envisage an application that allows selection of any profile for backup, any profile for restoration , and any profile for use. Having the ability to merge profiles and upgrade to newer profiles would be icing on the cake.

I closed all my tabs and reopened the browser bc I was getting lag on sites like X.com when typing my messages. Immediately after opening Firefox again, my homepage, MSN.com was loaded. I tried to click on the arrow to scroll through the different headline stories and nothing happened. I used Chrome & Opera to load the same page and they work fine. This seems like a Firefox thing. I have no extensions or permissions that deny me the right to click on anything. What is the problem?

For some reason when I try to download a screenshot of [this tweet] it fails every time; I tested it and it's just that tweet specifically. This has never happened before and I assume it's just a bug since copy-pasting still works. Any help with this?

Hi, Many times my images won't load on Firefox, but they do on Google chrome. I have disabled all my extensions and it still happens. I even went in and explored this option recommended by firefox: browser.display.document_color_use to the Search box. The preference's value should be set to 1 by default.

Please help! This is so frustrating and I love firefox. Here is an example of what I mean: I log on to https://www.tummee.com/yoga/poses/library to see yoga poses and I get all the stuff but the images of a yoga pose; however, google chrome loads the images. This happens on other sites too. I use a Mac and my Firefox is up to date: 121.0 (64-bit).

For several weeks I have had to go to webmail to get mail. It is there, but Thunderbird is not downloading it regularly...only sometimes. I have uninstalled T, and re-installed it several times. Sometimes this made a difference and downloading resumed, but for the past 24 hours no mail has downloaded. It is time to quit T?

Thunderbird shows wrong Sender name for Email received at my gmail address

On an Email message retrieved by Thunderbird from my Gmail account, the sender-name shown in my Inbox is different from the sender-name shown when I look at the message directly in my Gmail account. When I reply to the message via Thunderbird, it uses the correct sender-name.

I assume that there must be at least two fields in the Email message that would identifying the sender-name of the message. I tried to find out more from the RFC5322 specs here:

   https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5322

My guess is that Thunderbird is getting whatever it displays as the sender-name in my inbox from a different field from what it uses as the "To" name when I reply to a message. For most messages, these two fields are probably the same, so there's no noticeable difference. But attached screenshots illustrate the difference:

[1] Thunderbird Inbox wrongly shows Sender as "Dan Sullivan" (deceased husband of sender, who may have been the account holder when the Earthlink Email address was setup many years ago)

[2] Gmail Inbox show Sender as "Margaret Sullivan" (writer of the message)

[3] Thunderbird reply correctly shows the recipient as "Margaret Sullivan"

This isn't a huge problem. (When I pointed out the oddity in my reply to my friend, I told her that "(Personally, I enjoyed the reminder of Dan's charming smile.)" But it probably should be added to the list of things to tidy up whenever anybody's modifying the relevant component of the Thunderbird program.

Of course, my friend can probably prevent it from happening by changing some field in whatever software she uses for writing/receiving Emails, but that might be more trouble than it's worth for a non-geek. Happy New Year! Thanks to Thunderbird for providing the Email client software I've been happily using for many years, and hope to continue doing so for many years to come.

I have a bat file in Windows 10:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -compose "to='partner@mail.com',subject='Happy new Year',body='TextFile.txt',Attachment='AttFile.pdf'"

What is the correct syntax to get 'TextFile.txt' as body and 'AttFile.pdf' as attachment ? I have tried hundreds of ways, and no one works.

While on MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) Firefox desktop updates transitioned to an ESR channel. This was expected and worked just fine. I recently updated the MacOS to 12.7 (Monterey) but Firefox desktop updates are still on the ESR channel.

When I go to Firefox -> About Firefox it says the desktop browser is up to date and that it's on the Extended Support Release. This ESR is only good until September 2024. I don't think it's supposed to be on the ESR channel since the OS is now 12.7, rather, it should just be on a "regular" update channel. Is that correct?

If no, will updates for MacOS Monterey cease in September 2024 too? If yes, how do I get back to the regular updates?

TIA
