I had 12 important draft messages in my "drafts" subfolder of one of my e-mail accounts. This e-mail account is a work e-mail based in Outlook, and I use Thunderbird to download those e-mails to my laptop, and to compose e-mails. The 12 messages in that Thunderbird folder suddenly disappeared, and have also disappeared from my "drafts" folder in Outlook. (The Thunderbird and the Outlook accounts are linked.) I did not change any settings. This has never happened before. Those missing e-mails do not appear in the "deleted items" folder in Thunderbird or in Outlook. It is extremely frustrating and is causing problems at work.

Oddly, my Thunderbird listing of folders still shows the number "12" next to the name of the "drafts" folder. But, there are no e-mails visible in that folder. All my other Thunderbird folders for this e-mail and for my other e-mail are working properly. Please help.

Thunderbird: Suddenly links in emails are behaving very strangely. Whenever I click on a link, the Inbox window is selected and the link is essentially ignored.

Any info on fixing this will be greatly appreciated.

I use folder icon colors for various purposes. I prefer my color selection "menu" to look like the first included image, after I define and Add to Custom Colors.

After a restart of TB, my custom color choices go away. I believe the color choices should survive and be permanent until changed by the user. Please advise, thank you.

More often than it should happen, when I try to reply to a message, TB opens a screen that is surrounded by a thick white line and I can't type in the field. Why? How to I fix it?

Apparently MS has changed something in their OAuth2 and Thunderbird has yet to catch up. I've seen several other questions regarding this, but no workable solutions, just silly replies. Is TB actively working on a solution or am I now forced to install Outlook?

On my PC - Initial problem was T-bird took forever to load and virtually all new msgs went to TRASH and I had to move to IN-Box. Per help from David - Saved off profile, and reinstalled thunderbird from thunderbird.net. No change. Then UNINSTALLED T-Bird (profile still intact). Now just attempts to open "Looking up imap.comcast.net", but won't open/connect and to close the app I must use WIN Task Master. Can't get to any msgs, etc.

Also, in the past when I was able to open, the  banner or bar at the top of the page had hundreds of email icons.  I sometime have over 1000 emails in my in-box!! 

I have years worth of emails in folders on T-Bird which I don't want to loose. Help. Thank you. I have a "working" version (with the "trash" and slow loading issue per above) on my laptop, so I can access suggestions on that version of T-Bird. You could also send any suggestions to x@gmail.com

I am using Thunderbird 140.8.0esr (64-bit) on Kubuntu 25.10 multi-monitor configuration. New install, very little customization.

Thunderbird will not retain the window size or position for the main window or messages. I have have tried deleting both the xulstore.json and session.json files (one at a time and both). When I delete the xulstore.json file and restart Thurderbird, it starts maximized. When I set the position manually e.g. to use about 90% of the screen for the main window and about half the width and about 90% of height for a message window and then close Thurderbird I can see the new window size vales written into xulstore.json e.g 2493 x 1362 and 1501 x 1317 "messengerWindow":{"sizemode":"normal","screenX":"0","screenY":"0","width":"2493","height":"1362"} "messengerWindow":{"sizemode":"normal","screenX":"0","screenY":"0","width":"1501","height":"1317"}

When I close and restart thunderbird it reverts to opening in the center of the primary monitor at a smaller size than when I closed it. I found a similar recent question if this helps with a possible solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1527783 but I cannot locate the referenced userChrome.css file to see if there might be something similar to try.

I am also using a multi-monitor setup. If I move the Thunderbird window to the second screen and close it, it always re-opens on the primary display at the 940x540 size. Thanks!

mail.ru and vk.com (a russian messenger app) recently decided to cooperate closely. On Linux desktop trying to use webmail (using firefox), I have to solve a captcha everytime (extremely difficult, since there is a slider to move until you see distinct Russian words.Btw. I know Russian, but I struggle).

On android however, it's easy: There is a mail.ru app in the playstore, working very well.

I don't want to use mail.u on android, since typing on android is cumbersome.

Hello, I have a problem.

Before an emergency move, I transferred my calendar data from my Windows 11 PC to my laptop (Windows 10). The calendars worked perfectly there; entries were added, etc. Since yesterday, after eight months, I've access to my Windows 11 PC again and am trying to transfer the calendar. It's not working.

Two of my calendar files imported, but my large company calendar file (3200kB) won't.

I now know it's too large, so I tried manually splitting it (using Notepad). Part 1 (500kB) imports, but Part 2 (488kB) doesn't. I also tried using Google Calendar, same problem. However, this calendar file works perfectly on the laptop.

What can I do? It contains data for eight months plus future dates.

I _do_ need a backup of settings, passwords, pgp keys, to move to another workstation. It is unclear what exactly is exported.

In our organization we have moved from an on-premise mail server to M365. We've also added our new EWS-based accounts to Thunderbird. Since there are a large number of users with a significant amount of older mails they want to have access to, they have been asking how they could upload them to EWS now.

We've noticed that either copying or moving messages from local folders to an EWS folder fails after some time. Has anyone encountered this?

All our systems are Windows 11 Pro rigs, domain-joined, with ESET endpoint security installed.

In our organization we have moved from an on-premise mail server to M365. We've also added our new EWS-based accounts to Thunderbird. From the looks of it, using TB one can either drag and drop messages from the local folders to EWS. Would message copy/move from the local folders be faster if the EWS account was setup over IMAP, instead of over EWS? If so, we could setup another account corresponding to the same EWS identity, but over IMAP, just for the purposes of transferring messages faster.

It appears how TB handles IMAP connections for outlook email accounts no longer works - OAuth2 connection flow broken, and this is likely due to stricter changes made on Microsoft's backend that is impacting connections going forward.

I have multiple email accounts configured and recently, I have been bombarded by login pop up - likely related to the OAuth2 authentic process.

Whilst I was able to circumvent the authentication process - i.e. not completing the flow process entirely as it expected, newly created outlook accounts appear to reveal two things:

1] There has been a recent change to the authentication process - i.e. the telling sign.

2] There is a now deeper issue when trying to connect outlook email accounts. It seems the reason why circumvention was possible with existing accounts was because they have already passed the OAuth2 process correctly - correct tokens exist. Since this won't be the case for new outlook accounts - no OAuth IMAP access token created, above error is given.

It seems the likely cause is because Thunderbird holds or requests a token that does not contain the correct IMAP audience/scope combination, and Exchange rejects it during SASL XOAUTH2 bind.

For your information, I am using the latest versions and able to configure Apple Mail client - which uses Exchange protocol (not IMAP), without issues.

I'm losing my mind by the fact that you can't hold to scroll or click to toggle scroll with MMB in Thunderbird, instead it opens a new tab which is completely useless to me since I share inbox and mail reader in one screen.

Is there any way to fix or change this?

If not I'd really like to request this as an option or feature.

I had a Gmail address set up in Thunderbird on my old computer (Win 10). I had to get a new computer with Win 11. I have my Earthlink addresses set up okay.

But I've been unable to properly set up the Gmail address. I enter all the information, but the account vanishes from T-bird. All I have in Thunderbird is a Thunderbird Tab with Google info. It's a full page which might not come out clear with a screenshot, so I'm copying what's on this Tab ....

BUT I don't see the gmail email account itself. It had been with the other accounts, but it's not there anymore. PLEASE give me step-by-step instructions so I can access this gmail account.

For some reason, 3 of 4 accounts I use no longer open on the accounts list. I cannot expand them, I cannot "Get Messages" for them, there's no reaction whatsoever, as in no message in status bar (which works fine, as confirmed with that 1/4 account that still works).

I checked for subscribed folders and all of them are. I even was able to add a new folder, which does get added via IMAP. This is, therefore, not a connectivity issue.

I also checked the Developer Console and Activity Tasks, absolutely nothing shows there.

I removed global-messages-db.sqlite, folderTree.sjon, the .msf files. I checked in Troubleshoot mode. Nothing helps.

This looks like some nasty bug and I am happy to help debugging this further, if you point me in the right direction.
