duplicate of /questions/1409084 thread

WHY is it that every time I try to search for something in Firefox it takes me to Wikipedia? I cannot use Firefox any longer for searches without everything going to Wikipedia. I cannot find any way to escape that page or get rid of it. This started about a month ago. I'm fed up!

What idiot thought it would be a great idea to replace "View Image" with "Open Image In New Tab"? Seriously? What the fracking hell. I used View Image all the time with a combination of Ctrl W to close tabs after saving images in bulk. Now you've deleted View Image to replace it with something dumber. Perhaps instead of replacing it, you should have altered its functionality to open a new tab if someone's holding Shift when they click it. Did you ever think of that? No, you were probably thinking about how to make Firefox worse. Ugh, why is firefox getting worse and worse with time? You guys keep taking away features and deliberately ruining the firefox experience, pretty soon its just gonna be another dumbed down clone of Chrome, the browser for the lower intellect. "Oh shame, too many buttons? Let us dumb it down for you. Configurations too complex? Here, we'll stupify it for you~ Its ok to be an ape level intelligence~"

You should be teaching people to be smarter, not bowing to their lower intellectual capabilities.

Now I've had to get a plugin to bring back the view image feature and this plugin actually does it better than you ever could have. Maybe its Mozilla thats getting dumber and not the rest of the world. Maybe their developers are losing intellect so they have to dumb down their own program so they can manage it. Who knows. I'm starting to suspect this.

Yea, I'm angry. You keep ruining Firefox.

I screen a lot of junk mail through rules I've manually entered to a Deletable folder. It occurred to me that some especially egregious ones, I can filter them direct to trash. So far so good.

Now, I have TBird configured to leave messages on the POP server for 2 weeks I think it is, or until I delete an email. That way, if I look at email on my phone or other device I get all non-trash mail for the last two weeks, and all mail (including junk) since the last time I fetched mail to my laptop, which is the long term archival location.

Problem is, if I make a rule to filter something straight to trash, TBird doesn't identify that email as deleted when next fetching messages, so the server doesn't delete them, and they're still there clogging up my phone.

Any way around this?

How do I search from the Search Box (the box under Google" on the Google Homepage) ? Since the latest Firefox update (89.0June 2021), even though I have the cursor in the Search Box, when I type the cursor jumps to the address search box. I have tried adjusting the Firefox "search" settings, but that didn't work. I also tried changing "keyw" in "about:config" but that disabled searching in both the Search Box and the Address/Search Panel. Also tried reverting to the older version of Firefox (88.0)

I used to have Firefox set up how I like it, but now it seems I've lost that. Any ideas, please ?

I don't know if it's a need to mark your territory, or some marketing major blathering about "holistic new user experience paradigms"--and I put up with the stupid move to tabs on top (because apparently some dev felt that what Firefox users really wanted was Chrome!)--but this is a hideous, steaming turd.

'Oh no, showing the 'close tab' icon and clearly delineating between tabs interrupts the synergistic flow of the UI! Let's make the tabs one disgusting, unreadable blur from left to right! Also, let's make them take up more real estate on the screen, because people have higher resolution screens now--we can totally dominate the upper quarter! Oh, and force the change to the new layout, don't give people an option to revert--and don't warn them, either! EVERYONE MUST SEE OUR MAJESTIC, PERFECT, UNASSAILABLE VISION! Surely that won't confuse TF out of a bunch of grandparents whose hapless children/grandchildren will have to completely re-explain, multiple times, how to get to Facebook!'

Rolled back to 88.01, went through the "new profile" crap you put in to discourage rollback/cover for poor programming, and disabled automatic updates. Barring a major, earth-shattering security vuln, I'm done updating. And when that time comes, I'll find another browser.

Posting here because they've stopped soliciting feedback--probably because they know they've unleashed a sloppy splattered dook onto the world and they're tired of being screamed at.

My favorite add-ons aren't available with this newest version. I while ago I had prevented the update so that I could help using them. Now I've gotten a new ANDROID device and I don't know what version I need. I do know that I was able to look for add-ons unlike this version that appears to just show me some I can pick if I want, but there's no add-on browsing page likes there was.

Someone in Bugzilla instructed me to use Troubleshoot Mode for a separate problem, so I did. After reverting back to normal mode, I find that my addons are gone. Then I checked about:profiles. I find that one profile (default-release) has my tabs in normal colors (gray) and no addons, while another profile (default) has my addons, but the tabs are strangely white, which I don't want. How do I get the addons to appear while having normal tab color (gray)?

Hello there,

I am switching to Thunderbird form the standard Mail from W10 and discovering lots of new features, but one thing that cannot seem to find is how to keep one old account I have (may junk mails but some useful too) out of the unified folders where my other accounts are (all of them imap). Right now I check it through the web browser but may be I can have it separated in thunderbird too.

Thanks in advance for your time!
