When i click on the lock icon in the address bar, nothing happens (I would expect to see the encryption and certificate, but no widget opens). When I right-click into the page and select "View Page Info", "Security", "View Certificate", no certificate exists. Only generic info is shown (Servers+Authorities). Also an error is reported in the system log, confirming that no certificate exists: JavaScript error: chrome://browser/content/browser-siteIdentity.js, line 642: TypeError: issuerCert is undefined

Questions:

• Why does Firefox show the lock icon while no certificate exists?

• How does Firefox establish a secure connection without having a certificate? (From my understanding a certificate is needed for TLS to work.)

Version used: Firefox 78.12.0esr ('Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0'), no add-ons or plugins.

Thank you for responding and answering my question. You have helped me out gratefully! Your answer is right, easy to understand and to fulfill. I can move those icons from now on. Hereby I have an other question. I have more extensions added, but not all of those icons are shown in the toolbar. How do I realize that?

Real example I have in the toolbar 4 extension icons but I have 7 extension enabled. Where have been those other 3 icons?

Hello, I have folder with old Firefox data, I need Google account name and password, mostly name. How can i decrypt the name from file logins.json or how can I import it to my current Firefox profile? In properties of passwords in Firefox I don't have option to import from file, I don't know how to find option that will let me do it.

I've had several instances when the browser would freeze after logging out of my user and/or when the internet cuts out on windows 10 Home 19043.1237. I figured it would stop after an update of Firefox (i currently have it set to automatic) but it hasn't. Even when I stepped away from the computer and it went to sleep, the browser froze and I had to force quit.

Firefox is redirecting a particular http:// site to https:// Can't figure out how to stop the redirection. It is an unsecured site I am trying to access. Tried various fixes from the community to no avail.

The redirection started earlier this month.

Recently (late Sept. 2021) on nearly every new website I go to, Firefox message says it prevented page from loading, and I have to click on allow. How can I stop this? It is very annoying.

The possibility of moving icons of those extensions will be a huge improvement.

Please send through to the right department. If those functions still aren't available jet.

Hi! Netflix used to work great in Firefox on my Mac OS X 10.11.6 macbook. Now I've been getting an error message saying "Looks like your browser is no longer supported" when trying to play video on Netflix and it won't play. I noticed that it self-updated a couple times over the last few days but these updates did not solve the problem. I'm hoping that this problem can be fixed so that I can keep watching Netflix on Firefox, as I find Chrome and other browsers are very slow and laggy compared to Firefox. Thanks :)

everyday when i get on my mac, Firefox acts as if I just installed it. I have to do the import of favorites and such.....sometimes it happens more then once on the same day, like if if it sets for a few hours it closes out. when I open it back up its like a new install.... Any ideas

When I try to open many, not all webpages, they don't load but flash very quickly repeatedly. I have used firefox for years and have never seen this before and these are all pages that previously worked fine

during maintenance of my logins in my password manager I discovered that I still have the login data for a FireFox Sync account. I can login to that account and see my settings, but I actually want to delete the account completely. The problem: The mail address associated with that account does not exist anymore (changed the company). When trying to delete the account (or when trying to add a seconday mail address), Firefox Sync prompts me to enter a verification code that was sent by mail.

I'll never receive that code, as that original mail adress does not exist anymore.

How can I delete that FS Sync account?

How can I get a predefined set of tabs to be always available on startup regardless of the last used tabs? I couldn't find this option which is so useful and important for me. So i'm using "restore previous session" but this is not what I want and sometimes it is also zeroed so I need to reopen all the tabs I need from scratch...

Hi I have a problem where some malware - opicle.go2cloud.org, has been installed on my Windows 10 PC. When you click on a link, the malware "intercepts" the website and in most instances returns a "404 Not Found error". I did think the problem may be with Windows, but I used Edge as a browser and it worked OK....indicating the problem is with Firefox.

I've checked enabled extensions and plugins and can't find anything. I've also looked online for help but no joy. Any help here is appreciated Thanks

Suppose I have a "policies.json" file in the "distribution" subdirectory of my Firefox installation.

And suppose "policies.json" file contains this:

Now if I type "youtube.com" in the address bar, it shows "Your organisation has blocked access to this page or web site." It means firefox blocks "youtube.com" correctly. Meanwhile the url in the address bar is "https://www.youtube.com/."

But if I remove "https://www." from "https://www.youtube.com/" in the address bar (Not retype), I can actually visit "youtube.com." It means somehow the webfilter is not working properly.

This issue exists in ubuntu and macos with version 92.0(64-bit).

Does anyone have the same problem? Any help would be appreciated.

when I'm on Yahoo and open a site to read that contains pictures the main picture at the top of the story will open ,but down the screen as you read other pictures will appear but won't load ,they show as gray boxes . Is there a setting I need to change to correct this ?

While using Firefox just now on Windows 7 as a limited user, it crashed. So far as I'm aware, my version was up to date as of yesterday or so.

When I reopened Firefox after the crash, I checked the About menu item which said that Firefox needed to be restarted to be updated. Doing so disabled the program and I cannot open it.

So I downloaded the installer thinking that I'd have to do a clean install. When I ran "Firefox Installer.exe", it said that Firefox needed to be updated and said it would do that. I have tried that twice now, and both times the updater got about 75% through and just died. I still cannot access Firefox and when I try to run it through the Start/Run menu, I get a message saying that "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You many not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". I have tried looking in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox and can see firefox.exe, but it will not run and gives me the same "Windows cannot access..." complaint. I tried running it as administrator, and got the same complaint.

I have copied the contents of install.log into the troubleshooting information area below on this page. I tried to copy installation telemetry.json into the same form, but it wouldn't paste into the box and opened a new tab instead.

At this moment, I don't see a way around doing a clean install. That will be a pain in the ass as I had a lot of context open, and would rather not have to reconstruct that, but I see no choice at this moment.

Any suggestions that you have will be greatly appreciated.

While attempting to do a clean install, I started to uninstall Firefox and was given a message saying something like "Firefox must be restarted complete an update." I tried to cancel the uninstall but could see no way of doing so. I closed the control panel item and I restarted my computer. Firefox came back up and now says that it's up to date.

Perhaps the installer really was finished but neglected to tell me a restart of the computer was required. I'm quite certain that no such message was given and Task Manager told me that the installer was no longer running after what appeared to be two failed attempts to update Firefox.

I'm still confused by what happened, but am happy to report I can now drive on (93 minutes later) and my context wasn't lost. ;-)
