I'm on a Mac using T-bird with 5 other mail accounts. Trying to setup Gmail account. Using T-bird auto setup and have checked with manual configuration that okay (or what I think is okay). Authentication set to 0Auth2. Password I'm using is same one that works for webmail.

When I hit Done button for set up it takes me to a signin page (see Image-1). When I hit Next it gives me an error page (see Image-2).

What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

I Menu app icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information

Under 'Application Basics' - Profile Folder - click on 'Open Folder'

This opens a new window showing the contents of your current in use profile name folder.

Exit Thunderbird now - this is important.

Look for the following files and delete them.

   cert8.db - obselete file
   cert9.db - currently used file
   key3.db - obselete file
   key4.db - current used file
   logins.json - current used file
pkcs11.txt (some people report this file missing)
   secmod.db - obselete file
   session.json
   xulstore.json

See next comment before you start Thunderbird as you need to empty cache files.

Start Thunderbird

Add yahoo and make sure all the settings are correct. Make sure Authentication Method is Oauth and user name is full yahoo email address.

Report on results.

ADDITIONAL Whilst Thunderbird is closed - after you have deleted the files mentioned previously.

access : C:/Users/ User Account/Appdata/Local/Thunderbird/Profiles/ Please note this is the Appdata 'Local' location which the computer uses as a cache. Be sure you are in the 'Local' and not the 'Roaming' Delete the contents of the 'Profiles' folder.

then start Thunderbird. keep having to reset my secure key password and tried this in "Roaming" instead of "Local" Help!

14 Nov. I have been unable to solve the problem of needing to sign in to Thunderbird using Google. I have gotten myself into some trouble, and almost got scammed by trying to get help from on line providers to accomplish this. Some Dell technicians have the suspicion that my version of Thunderbird may be corrupted. I am going to take my Dell desktop to a computer shop tomorrow. I am hoping they will install a new form of Thunderbird onto an external computer, and then let me try to log in to Thunderbird on that version. If that works, then it will be an indication that the version I have been using on my Dell desktop is corrupted. The plan in that case would be to have the technician transfer all my Thunderbird data to the new version of T-bird on the external computer. Then he could install a new, fresh version of T-bird on my computer. Finally, he could attempt to return all my Thunderbird data from the external computer back onto the new version of T-bird on my computer. I am afraid that my Local Folders and their contents will not be transferred back to Thunderbird on my computer. I'm afraid that all my local folders will be lost. I'm not sure whether the technician will have to make a Thunderbird-Profile_back up before he removes the Thunderbird data from my computer. We'll see.

I changed my password on my aol account which is my email provider. I have the email configured to use OAuth2 authentication which previously worked just fine . When I now attempt to access my email a window opens up asking for my AOL username. I enter that and the next window says "Please Enable Cookies in your browser and sign in again" Not sure on how or where I do this. My browser is DuckDuckGo. Thanks so much

I've just returned from a couple of months away, and want to access my emails on Thunderbird on my desktop. This is the message i get:

Login to server [...] with username [...] failed.

I've contacted my provider who say the issue is not with them but with Thunderbird. As I can access webmail ok I presume this is correct.

I have tried Troubleshoot mode, but that hasn't helped. And I've tried restarting the computer.

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

Thank you!

In trying to sync my bookmarks from my old PC to my new one (Win 11), every. single. time I log in to Firefox, and enter the emailed code I receive, to which I get an on-screen conformation that I've logged in AND an emailed confirmation that I've logged in, I am instantly logged back out- the little yellow triangle shows back up on my account icon. I have tried everything i can think of: I've made sure I'm not in private browsing mode, cookies are enabled, I've forced a log out of all devices, I've closed and re-opened Firefox, I've restated my computer, I've even uninstalled and re-installed Firefox in case there was some odd glitch....all for naught. Nothing I do helps. THEN to make matters worse I get the 15 min blockout to add to my frustration, because I've tried this too many times. All I want to do I sync my bookmakers to my new device....

I have just got a brand new Windows 11 laptop and wanted to try Thunderbird because Outlook is S*$%T.

But when I tried to set up my email account, it just keeps failing, saying I have the wrong details. I know my details are 100% correct - so how do I fix this?

I tried doing it in safe mode too - but with the same fail.

Anybody know how I can fix this?

Thanks, Mark.

I have successfully imported two gmail accounts and one plus.net account into Thunderbird but have been unable to get my outlook.com account to work. I keep getting "We can’t sign you in - your Browser is currently set to block cookies……" (https://login.live.com/cookiesDisabled.srf?uaid=d8765d38fd5349ada4d4d431073a1f36&mkt=EN-GB&lc=2057)

I use DuckDuckGo as my default browser but have also tried with Brave and Edge, turning off any available cookie blockers. I have set Edge to allow cookies but still no success. Can you advise please?

I have previously used Thunderbird for many years and intended to move back now that an Android app is to be launched, so this is disappointing.

I have 2 Thunderbird accounts running on 3 different computers. The passwords were last changed in Oct 2020 and both have been running fine until today. One is still without problems but the other starting today will not log-in. A window pops up with the following message: "Login to server mail.server310.com with username randy@johnstonfam.org failed." One computer is running W10 and the other 2 W11 and I have the same problem on all 3. I have Thunderbird ver 128.8.0esr, 64 bit. I checked and the password is correct. I tried re-entering it to no avail. Please help to get this account running again. NOTE: The other email address is Randy@RJohnstonAppraisals.com
