The breach source was Canadian Tire, but I've never bought anything from them online. Why would my credit card, email , credit card and phone number be compromised?

Hello, I need help. A virus has entered my computer through an infected file. Possibly a trojan. And when Bitdefender antivirus scanned the whole computer, it found viruses. It offered to remove them. I removed them. But after this action, all the emails in my mailboxes became invisible. I can see the subject of the email, but I cannot see what is inside. The email is white. There are no functional buttons to forward or reply to the received mail. Attached files are also inaccessible. It also does not allow me to delete the message.

I can delete emails from my sent profile. I tried reinstalling Thunderbird. It didn't help. I tried moving my inbox profiles to another computer - no help. I have a feeling that there will be some virus file in the profile that prevents the contents of the email from being displayed. Incidentally, I get a similar picture when I have archived an email via the compacting function.

The fact that emails affected by the virus are inaccessible. Newly arrived emails are visible and I can delete them.

I hope that someone else has had a similar situation and knows how to solve it. I would be grateful for your help.

I keep getting blocked threats and my email will not download because Thunderbird is blocking the threat. I deleted all emails that came in prior to the problem. not sure how to find the bad email

I would like to use Thunderbird on a shared computer at my universitys lab space (it is mainly my PC but other people have access and use it sometimes). However, as we are requested to keep mails confidential I thought it would be as easy as just setting a primary password and thunderbird would not start if that password is not set. However, that proofed to be a wrong assumption. Instead if I just cancel the dialog it will open and still display all the locally stored mails.

We are using IMAP server and I already set up that the mails are not stored locally. Still, some mails that I have used recently are visible. I am aware that there would anyway be the local copy in the profile folder but I guess none of the people sharing that computer would take the efford to check that, so I would be fine if I could simply prevent thunderbird from starting without the primary password.

Is there any option for that or any extention that would do so?

Thunderbird is configured to access my several email accounts.

Returning to my PC after several hours away not using it, I see a pop-up requiring me to sign in to one of those accounts. The account is a gmail account which I use about once a week. Is this suspicious? Should I be concerned?

[I have searched the but have only been able to find inquiries about 'master password' or 'password every time used']

I am trying to set up 2FA to access my emails in Thunderbird. There are several instruction on how to do this but none of them work. I can't find the settings they mention. Can you please help. A video would be helpful.

I am receiving e-mails minus any graphics, such as those in 'WHICH' magazine articles or other advertising messages. Have I accedentally deleted or altered a setting somewhere?

Hello, If I had to sign into my gmail account in order to download Firefox browser, does that mean that my new tablet (that did not have my gmail identity on it before) is now fully enmeshed with the Google identity, even though I will not use it on this new tablet?

I wonder if thunderbird (plus addons?) could help fight phishing in the following way. Say I need to check the authenticity of emails I get from Bob. Is there a way to

1) Get Bob to create digital signature (PGP?) and send it to me ahead of time in secure channel; I store this signature locally (on thunderbird?)

2) Bob sends me an email, with this signature

3) Upon receiving this email, thunderbird automatically verifies the signature against the locally saved one and confirms that the signature is correct

Note: I am looking for automatic verification of message/sender, NOT encryption.

If this can be done, do Bob also needs to use thunderbird (plus addons?), or is there a standard protocol for this (e.g. can this be done via gmail webinterface, outlook, etc?)

For about the past 10 days or so Tbird has been presenting me with a request for my user name and password for, i am assuming, inclusion as an added account. They want

The problem is that in have no idea who caldav is or where they got my link to Tbird. My concern is that this may well be malicious. They want me to authenticate with username and password. What user name and what password?

Does anyone in the forum know what this is all about and how i can get them permanently excluded? With all the fake / criminal challenges on the net these days, i am very nervous (77 years old).

I just set up a Rakuten account which alllows me to buy things on line. Mozilla-Firefox won't let me buy through this website (i.e., the Rakuten website). How do I get Firefox to allow me to do what I want. I have no idea which version of Firefox I'm using. I'm assuming that its fairly recent.

I sent a private email to one person, when I checked my email later on, "friend" asked a question about the previous person's sent (from me) email and its content! I checked my sent folder, and tried to figure what happened. I did not find her in my sent folder! How could this happen? I felt my privacy was compromised which it was! Please tell me what to do to protect myself from this "friend" with things that are none of her business, Sincerely, Chris Williams
