Latest version of Firefox on macOS, Mac Mini M2 - 8 GB RAM and MacBook Air M3 - 16 GB RAM: Firefox malfunctions on launch - I have to force quit and relaunch it - Firefox starts to load then freezes. Firefox works, then I launch other applications like Chrome, Thunderbird, etc. Firefox freezes on the M2 8GB RAM but rarely on the M3 16GB. A few weeks ago, these problems didn't exist on either of my Macs - since an automatic update that I didn't notice, it's now a consistent occurrence.

For a few weeks now, I've noticed that Firefox will not open properly and gets hung with a rotating circle. I have tried all of the conventional fixes including installing a new version but it doesn't seem to work. In the meantime, I will use Safari and occasionally, up to an hour later, it will open and operate normally...until I restart my Mac at which point the whole process starts all over again. But usually, I just get the finder message "Firefox not responding"

Please advise.

I have been battling with Firefox for a bit now with this 'helper tool' download. Every single update it requests access, which is has, and then won't actually open Firefox. I have to uninstall and reinstall each time to get some level of functionality back.

Checking online this isn't a problem isolated to my own computer, but aside from getting the pro version, there were no great solutions.

Can this issue please be fixed?

I updated Firefox on Mac and was prompted to install a helper and now Firefox will not run. I've tried several times. I uninstalled Firefox and tried to reinstall but when I try it doesn't work.

On one macOS Sonoma machine, Firefox launches very slowly and then crashes. On another Mac with the same macOS version, Firefox works normally.

Even in Safe Mode, Firefox cannot start its GPU and socket subprocesses. Steps to Reproduce 1. Download the latest Firefox from the official Mozilla website. 2. Install it normally in /Applications. 3. Launch Firefox by double-click or from terminal. Firefox starts very slowly and then crashes or becomes unstable.

When launching Firefox in Safe Mode: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox --safe-mode [Parent 1846, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: Failed to launch gpu subprocess @MachCheckInListener TimedOut (Error:0) [Parent 1846, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: Failed to launch socket subprocess @MachCheckInListener TimedOut (Error:0) [GFX1-]: Fallback remains SW-WR [GFX1-]: Failed to launch GPU process after 3 attempts

• Reinstalling Firefox does not fix the issue. • Safe Mode does not fix the issue. • The problem appears to be related to Firefox child process initialization (GPU and socket processes). • The browser often starts in crash recovery state. • Automation tests fail with: “Browsing context has been discarded”

Firefox is currently unusable on this machine due to repeated crashes and inability to initialize required subprocesses. • Any recommended workaround or diagnostic steps.

I have tried to launch Firefox a number of times today and every time it has frozen and does not respond. When trying to select the option of opening the software in Troubleshoot mode, once again the software freezes and I am unable to open the software in Troubleshoot mode . I have tried shutting and re-opening both the software and my laptop but this does not resolve the issue. Can you please either resolve the issue of the software freezing or tell me how I can resolve the issue.

Whenever I click on the Firefox icon to start, instead of FF, AOL comes up. I looked on my C: program list and it is not listed so I can't delete it. It just started doing this in the last week. I tried downloading FF again with no luck. Its on an old windows 10 machine.

I am trying to sign in , Firefox is my browser. message come on that firefox is running but it does not open. I close it once and again as the same sign comes uo telling me it is running and close the attempts.

Do I really NEED to swithc to another browser to avoid this?

Tnx, Larry Yesterday I got a full page notice that told me my access to Firefox will be shut down because my Defender detected that I had stepped in some SHXT while visiting something in Firefox. They gave me a phone number of Microsoft something to call to fix it. I did not call because it seemed like malware, I guess it wasn't because soon after Firefox would not load. I will get this when I try: Says: cannot find server v3lpea6ndyxwl4.azureedge.net , I have run Malwarebytes and Defender and rebooted. Any ideas?

I can not open my firefox browser. I never had this problem before. When I click on the icon I have on my bottom of my computer it says I can not get on it says many different error messages being sent. I am not a computer whiz so what should I do? should I uninstall it and re-stall it? would I loose everything I have book marked. HELP

I'm having major problems with Firefox and was able to use it for a long time and I love the software to death. But it has given this problem that I have run into before which the only way I was able to fix it was a full wipe of my computer to factory settings. So with this I started to troubleshoot on what I could do and reinstall was the first and send commands to refresh the dns but I found to what seems to be a startup incomplete file in the Firefox software and it seems to create itself even when deleted. It could be this which is causing problems but all I know for certain that when I click on Firefox it won't open at all or startup. With the only evidence that it responded from task manager or a popup talking about wanting to refresh Firefox for 0.1 milliseconds

Restored FF to Imac. Attemped to open but get message “a copy of FF is already open to cannot open this one” Spent 6 hours with Apple Support to examine every file and delete anything related to FF or Mozilla except for the VPN program. This did not solve problem. Apple said could do no more and suggeted mozzilla support. How to get rid of the notice and enable opening of FF. on 2024 Imac M4 chip.

Hello, I have installed the latest Firefox on my Windows 11 desktop PC. I have created a shortcut to Firefox in the start menue Since a few week, I observed that I had to invoce Firefox twice in order to get is running once. The same happens if I double-click on firefox.exe in the intallation folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox): After the first double-click, the windows activity circle appears for a few seconds and then dissapears again (without staring Firefox). After the second double-click, Firefox starts immediately.

I can repeat this several times.

• first double click > nothing happens
• second double click > Firefox starts
• closing Firefox
• third double click > nothing happens
• fourth double click > Firefox starts
• closing Firefox
• fifth/seventh/... double click > nothing happens
• sixth/eigth/.. double click > Firefox starts

I have no idea what might have gone wrong. Any suggestion from the community is appreciated. Best,

Restarted W10 pc. Firefox is set to open on restart open previous tabs. Firefox did not open. Cannot open Firefox application manually. Running Ironscales and Sentinel One on PC. Running Privacy Badger on Firefox. Firefox was slow opening pages yesterday. I thought it was my INET connection.
