I rarely turn my laptop off, when I'm not using it I put it into sleep mode. Firefox absolutely hates this though, and after a few days it will slow to a torturous crawl. Everything becomes horribly irresponsive, feels like nails on a chalkboard. It can even get to the point where it will randomly delay my cursor in Windows 10 itself by 10 SECONDS along with some bleed into other programs while switching between them. Fully closing Firefox then re-opening it will reset the issue, starting the timer again, but I hate doing this because I have doing that set to log me out of various sites which I then have to re login to, letting the torture boil until I give in. This has been my Firefox experience on laptop for at least 5 years now. Other forks of Firefox have this same issue.

I am leaving Firefox in the torture state currently to troubleshoot here. Currently the memory usage on Firefox is 6GB at 54% of my total ram, which is being used at 84% total. Total CPU usage is 23%. Wrote this on my desktop for my sanity so that's why there's no troubleshooting information.

I use Brave, Firefox, Firefox Developer Edition and Thunderbird. Brave: 600mb Firefox Dev: 600mb Thunderbird: 200mb Firefox: 800mb Why is Firefox using too much memory? Especially as I am running Firefox Dev as a direct comparison. I don't have any plugins on Firefox. Firefox Dev has uBlock Origin alone. Brave has a few plugins.

I have been experiencing significant issues with Firefox for the past couple of months. The main concern is high CPU and RAM consumption during video playback, especially on YouTube.

This issue started appearing only for the past month or two; it was never present before on the same system, and no significant hardware changes have been made.

Crucially, this problem is exclusive to Firefox. I have tested video playback on other browsers such as Google Chrome, Brave, and Microsoft Edge, and do not face any similar performance issues with them.

Your assistance in resolving this is greatly appreciated.

Recently I've had this issue (on reddit) where after I expand a video in the feed, and start scrolling, all the visuals freeze.

I know it's only the visuals, because I can still interact with the website (usually unexpand the video, or pause it) with the image still frozen and audio still playing.

I can fix it by tabbing firefox down, and then up again. While researching I found the profiler, and finally managed to capture the moment it happened.

I'm no stranger to technical stuff but it's a loooot of data to process, I did a "clean" profile recording as well where I did the same action and where it didn't freeze, and I can't really make heads or tails out of what the issue is.

The recording managed to capture the phenomenon and I only clicked twice during that period, to expand two reddit expando videos, the second one is what caused the issue when scrolling. The only thing I see is a spike in memory usage

Not sure if I can (or should) upload the profile recording here or what, but it's been bugging me a lot.

It's pretty tricky to replicate because it seems to be random when and what triggers it, even expanding the same videos doesn't replicate it. Sometimes I go days without it happening, sometimes it happens 6 times in a single session.

I've added some screenshots of various views of the profiler/stack data.

I have an Nvidia RTX 5070ti GPU, hardware acceleration is on, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor.

I think I might have enabled some rendering settings in about:config, maybe it's related to that but I don't remember exactly what.

Maybe it's due to some windows "game optimisation" or the GPU and CPU-GPU fighting?

I have no problems watching videos while playing games or anything though.

i run Firefox on Win11. When i go to a website, and open several tabs, e.g., 10 or more, firefox just sits there and no longer works on that site. Basically Firefox is becoming quite worthless as a browser for me. The reason i use it are the extensions. This is something that has happened within the last 6 to 9months or so. What is going on. I recently got a new laptop with Windows 11 Pro. I installed Firefox from the Mozilla site. When I click to open Firefox, it takes a long time - 41 seconds to be exact. I uninstalled, reinstalled and restarted my computer. I cleared the cache. I tried to run as administrator. Not sure what else to try. As I wait for it to open, it reads "not responding" in the search bar area. Any ideas?

On my Windows 11 IOT Enterprise LTSC system firefox does not entirely close. After I installed my professional tax software from Drake Software LLC the following happens repeatedly: I open Firefox, look at a page, close Firefox, the screen clears and when I try to REOPEN firefox a popup says that it is still running and offers close or cancel. Neither button opens,closes or cancels Firefox. I have to reboot to make Firefox (147.02 64bit) close. This happens every time I open Firefox.

My firefox broswer is starting super slow since the last update. I am on a windows 10 lap top running McAfee anti virus software.

In my task manager there are multiple firefox icons running. See the attached screen shots.

I copied one of the crash report into the note section below.

If any one know show to correct this slow start up pleas let me know.

App is unusable. Freezes up frequently. Tried downloading again. Same problem. I am using Chrome temporarily and it is working just fine. Also ran Safari, no problem. Used it to download ESR 115. Worked fine. Definitely a Firefox problem.

Please view screen captures that best show the random issues I have with Firefox browser. This started a few months ago on my desk top PC. I have kept my Firefox up to date using 147.0.1. and still run WIN 10 Home. Although I am sure Linux is in my future!

The issue happens randomly where the top row of my browser disappears off my screen. I can work around the issue no problem but would like to know and understand the issue and if I can resolve it from happening. Firefox is the only app I have this issue with. And it is random and cannot be forced, I have tried....

My Firefox for multiple profiles. After opening one and downloading emails it freezes after a minute or two. I have been using Firefox for years, I am using it on a desktop Windows 11 Pro- version 140.60esr. I have donated to Firefox for a number of years. I have gone into the profile and deleted the extension .msf. It did not correct the problem is still freezes. How can I fix the problem. Many thanks.

Bogged down, slow: Win11 task manager(TM) shows more FF browsers than reality. Have 11 FF browsers in use but TM says 55 climbing to 77.... numbers vary up & down! but never accurate to what is in use. Attempted fixes: cleared cookies, ' Refresh', uninstall/reinstall. Troubleshooting Information: Application Basics said "Profile folder" click "Open Profile' for FF ...but no FF in that list. Tried 'clear Startup cache' and it jumped to 82 after... so worse. How do I get a true number of browsers open and not these 'extras'. Thanks in advance..

Lately when I reconnect to my Mac laptop after a period of sleep, the Firefox browser windows are unresponsive. It seems to be receiving input but does not update the display. I have to quit and reopen Firefox to get it to work again. The menu works, I am able to quit, so it's not like the whole app is frozen. Plus, if I clicked on the "new tab" icon while it was unresponsive, those new tabs show up open after I quit and reopen the browser.

Dear Mozilla,

I use Firefox as my primary web browser.

I am constantly having to Force Quit Firefox in order to free up storage.

Please work on making Firefox handle storage better.

I've disabled extensions, changed settings, and reinstalled multiple times, but Firefox won't quit stuttering constantly. Other browsers work fine on my computer, and Firefox doesn't seem to be using much memory.

Nothing is working after updating to the latest patch.

I cant open a new tab from any links at all. I cant copy an paste inside the browser AT ALL. My cursur looks like its about 25px off true. please roll this patch back ...why do they continue to allow engineers or coders to break it when it works fine?

Whenever I wake my mac from sleep, Firefox is unresponsive. I believe the app is not dead, just not repainting the window. Sometimes if I 'hide' Firefox window behind some other app window, then bring it back to top, it'll re-paint.

For a while I fixed the issue by disabling GPU usage in firefox. But now, even that isn't helping. Then for a while, removing and reconnecting the USB-C connection to my external monitor would fix it, but now that doesn't help.

Have to quit firefox completely and relaunch. Then the app is working again.

The browser is very slow when opening a new tab... When I've opened Youtube it says that the Page is slowing down the browser and it takes a very long time to respond... I'm using MacOs Monterey 12.7.6 and I believe my Firefox is up to date
